Seattle Stories - Mathew, person experiencing homelessness

Mathew's journey has been marked by an incredibly challenging upbringing in Vancouver, Washington. From a young age, he endured physical, mental, and emotional abuse at the hands of his stepfather. Meanwhile, his biological father's involvement in biker gangs and frequent incarceration cast a shadow over his family's life. Tragically, both his grandfather and father succumbed to suicide.
Despite the grim statistics stacked against him, Mathew is determined to rise above his circumstances and be the best possible father for his four children.
At one point, Mathew was employed at the Safeway gas station in Rainier Beach. However, when his wife, who suffers from schizophrenia, went missing and was living on the streets of Seattle, he made the difficult decision to leave his job and search for her.
Mathew is currently fighting to overcome drug addiction while surviving on the unforgiving streets of Seattle. This is part if his story.
