In an alternate universe/timeline, this would be more of a mid/late 60's movie, than a mid/late 50's movie. For historical context, films in the 50's were dominated by the Hays Code, which dictated what could and could not be allowed on film. However, with the social and political changes of the 60's, a film like this could be gotten away with, but not without generating controversy due to the "mature" subject matter.
this is more like a movie filmed today, based on a retro era... so we're not restrained by the historical context... thanks for your comment though, i appreciate the enlightenment ♥
I can understand why the girls wear the colors of the rainbow. But the guys? Are they trying to prove how non-macho they are? Are they trying to prove how non-masculine they are? Are they trying to prove that they are beta-males? We know who will be wearing the pants in their relationships, assuming they even find their female classmates attractive. To each his own. But you would never see Clark Gable, Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Gary Cooper, Marlon Brando, James Cagney, Kirk Douglas, Gregory Peck, Cary Grant, Edward G. Robinson, Sidney Poitier, Burt Lancaster, Robert Mitchum, Sean Connery, Peter Lorre, Frank Sinatra, Yul Brynner, Lee Marvin, James Earl Jones, Clint Eastwood, or Vincent Price in those flamboyant outfits. Even Mister Rogers would never dress like that. The boys in this posting do not reflect the 1950s.
Oh, henny, the 1950s called-they said it’s time to evolve. If masculinity is so fragile that it crumbles over some color choices, it might be time to reconsider the definition. If wearing rainbows is what gets you so flustered, maybe it’s not the outfits that need a re-evaluation. ✨ Times change, and so does fashion. Deal with it.
@@TalesFromForever One thing that does not change is folks not able to handle being critiqued for their public postings. Only lemmings need post flattering comments. All other comments, regardless of reality, trigger a red alert. Yes, times change, and fashion changes. But the actual reality of a period in time is what it is. That snapshot in time does not change. The men of the 1950s were not as depicted in this posting. So when history does not suit a radical, then the radical attempts to change history. Attempting to re-write history also never changes, and this video is case in point.
