When I'm cleaning house I pretend like I'm the babysitter and that this isn't my house but I'm cleaning it for the parents and admiring all the grown up stuff they have and their cool dishes or furniture and how awesome it'll be when I have that of my own. It gives a new perspective for my 13 year old self to appreciate what my 60 year old self has accomplished in her life.

I started doing this after a couple of random women stopped dead to compliment me. I felt amazing all day, so I started doing it. To see their faces light up is totally worth it!
I listen to books (audible) when I work out or clean the house - it gives me a reason to look forward to these activities. For audible books, they need to be pretty light. For deeper books, they need to be print

If you do have like 30+ mins, it can even turn into an effective cardio workout, that can be as high or low-intensity as you want it to be. 😁
Anna, I LOVE your weird habits! I've been complimenting strangers for years!! It's a beautiful way to spread love and kindness in a world that sometimes isn't so kind. My favorite memory is complimenting a woman about her gloriously beautiful shiny white hair and style. Her eyes literally welled up and she shared with me that it was her first birthday alone and that my compliment changed her perspective!! I was so moved, I asked to give her a birthday hug which she gladly accepted! It was such a beautiful moment for both of us! ❤ Anna, keep up your not-so-weird habits!!
Anna, Your videos are more than just fashion and lifestyle tips! I always watch them when I'm feeling a little down because they make me feel like I'm chatting with a good friend. Thank you for your fun, sometimes chaotic, but informative and impactful content😂❤ tons of love from Texas
The other day , I told a woman I loved her coat and asked her where she bought it. She was so happy that i liked her coat. I always do this if i see someone wearing something nice or wearing a lovely perfume.
I have recently started complementing people(of both sexes) for one reason or another and they were very receptive. As a 77 year old women I am genuine in my compliments and they are received as such. I really like the warm smiles I have received. And have received some good information in return if it had to do with a product. I have also been a recipient of such random compliments and do appreciate them myself. Sometimes it just makes my day!
I have always complimented people that way. I love talking about clothes & fashion & it’s a great way to connect. Recently, I complimented a woman who I met through work. I told her I liked her outfit & said I thought she had a great personal style. We are both attorneys & we were at a weekend-long conference. She was massively offended & gave me a lecture about “patriarchy” and “society’s expectations” for what female attorneys should wear. For the rest of the weekend, she made negative comments about my clothes every time we were together& even criticized me for changing out of my workout clothes for dinner. 😢
I love this!! I’m always seeking inspiration to channel into my outfits. Recently Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy popped up on my feed…. Instantly I’m in a white shirt, black trousers & a red lip. Even though I was only going to Costco that day I felt very elegant & confident. Amal Clooney has inspired my grooming… to me it’s not her outfits so much as her beauty….you never see a photo of her with bad hair. When I’m tempted to go out with dirty hair I ask myself what would Amal do?
I liked your dancing suggestion the best! When I feel depressed I crank up the music and dance!! It really helps! I always enjoy your enthusiasm about whatever you’re talking about❤ T. Y. ❤️
Anna, I love your habits and do several of them myself already but I fully intend to try the others. You're so inspiring and entertaining. Thank you! XXOO ❤️
Here’s a couple of exercise hacks - when you get up in the morning put on the clothes you will work out in. You don’t change until you’ve done the work out. I use TH-cam for free 30 minutes workout and all the variety I want. Walking, strength training, Pilates, yoga, kick boxing, running, anything you can think of. Nobody sees me, it’s done in 30 minutes, and it’s “me time” that I look forward to. You can do it in hotel rooms to, so you never have to break your routine.
Your Tip #3 is something I adopted during the pandemic -- not only it remind other women that even with the mask that would cover the majority of their faces, they were still beautiful. I haven't given up doing it - the stresses of our current situations have made even the smallest of compliments worth more than gold!
It's so true about the dancing. I took up ballroom dancing 10+ years ago, and I've noticed that if you don't feel like going to one of the dances, but you do anyway, after one dance, your mood is lifted. You just can't dance and feel bad!
Love these tips Anna. I do a few of these habits daily and will try the others. Dancing truly is uplifting in the kitchen, closet , etc. My habit is when I’m walking out the door I stretch my arms in the air and stretch. You can do that with a feeling of thanks and it’s an instant mood booster. xo, Cowgirl Deb
Anna, I LOVE the type of person that you are. I have ADHD and girl... I relate to things you say, ESPECIALLY in this video... I wonder if you could have undiagnosed adhd (I'm not a doctor but I do have many years of experience with ADHD) lol
For cleaning, Flylady method for the win! Even if u dont do the whole system, the basics of it makes cleaning and decluttering totally doable and low stress.
I have been watching your channel for a couple of years and what I love is how comfortable you are discussing a variety of topics now. This is so helpful for many and I believe that if we have a hack for something that has made us, our life better then let’s share that …throw it out there! I bet more viewers enjoy it than they’ll admit. Well done! Love your style sense and your life hacks of overcoming what holds us back ❤️
Great video.....I have been complementing women I see in stores, etc. for awhile and it does make me feel good as well as the other person. Also, when I was young, I’d go into my room, turn on some music and dance in front of my mirror. Not sure if it helped my anxiety but it sure kept the weight off. Maybe I should try that again 😊
Not weird things at all Anna. Whatever works for you. I have always complemented women strangers for as long as I’ve been an adult. And every time you can see that they light up. It gives someone else confidence and makes them smile. It’s a great feeling. Love the shoe choosing hack.
I love expressing compliments! I love when I see people open up and shine….it warms my heart and really look around… most people have something unique and lovely and most aren’t even aware of it
Thank you first of all being honest, and vulnerable! I We appreciate the tips, they are all good, and definitely will try some. Will pass on some to my husband as well!! I use a similar way, I help/counsel people with their problems, it puts things in perspective of what your issues are!! Most the time, you realize your issues aren't so bad. Don't discredit them. Allow yourself to be in the moment, but be grateful, you aren't in their shoes!! ❤
Amanda from This Crazy Life on TH-cam calls chores like toilet cleaning for you, Domino Chores. Those are the chores that once started help you progress onto other chores. That really helped me get started.
This was a wonderful video! I loved it! I’ve suffered from anxiety and overwhelm all my life and in addition to yoga, exercise and dancing, I’m starting to pray. It’s sad that I feel almost apologetic for saying this but I’ve gone back to mass✝️ and relearned some prayers to say every time I need it and it is really helping me. Thank you Anna🙏🏼💕🫶🏻🦃
The yellow and green color block sweater was very flattering on you. Love e your videos❤. One weird habit I have leaves a smile on everyone. I make jewelry. When someone compliments my necklace, I take it off and give it to them. I call my "low profit" business Agape Designs by Marcia. Most people consider this to be a strange habit.
You look so beautiful in this video. Im not just following your advice to compliment people, I do that all the time and think its fantastic. But you really do 😊
I struggled being consistent with workouts until I joined a Pure Barre studio. Highly recommend going in person in the beginning if a studio is available to you. The exercise is odd at first, but it has really changed the shape of my body while being low impact. Weights are used, and you will feel yourself getting stronger while toning within 1-2 months!
I absolutely love you Anna!! I always look forward to your latest content. My #1 favorite habit is to compliment someone on their looks or outfit or even comment on how I love that their child is behaving well or how adorable they are. I remember when my children were small, it would have meant the world to me that a random person would admire how well they behaved in church or out shopping. Keep up the great work!!
Love this, they where all great. I love the one about seeing somebody picture yourself what would they wear. When I get anxious, I act like I have to change the channel in my brain. I just stop thinking about it. Don’t ask me how to do. But I love the dance idea!
Great list, thanks for sharing. I can endorse Atomic Habits and habit stacking. Recently I decided I needed some help remembering to take my basic supplements -- multivitamin+, D3, nothing weird -- which it seems should be SO EASY to remember and yet about half the time I didn't. Solution: stack that habit with eating breakfast, something I do literally every day. Also, ChatGPT and I are on very good terms. We have frequent conversations about a wide range of subjects including exercise and nutrition, how to store homemade bread, the differences between poblanos and bell peppers... I've asked it to write fairy tales and poetry for me. I asked it to help me create a menu for a dinner party. My husband thinks I have a new boyfriend because we have such great conversations!
OMG I LOVE this, Melanie! First, love the vitamins with breakfast! I do the same at night except it's vitamins with a Recess drink. I do the same with ChatGPT. Currently I'm picking it's brain for wellness retreats in Sedona that aren't an arm and a leg and still feel fancy... it doesn't judge me at all 🤣🤣
A stranger tapped me on the shoulder to tell me that she loved my haircut. Actually it has happened a number of times; haircut and highlights. It always makes me feel so good; my thought being that a stranger doesn’t owe me anything, so it must be genuine. I always remember to tell my hairdresser the next time I see her, and I do compliment strangers when I like something about their appearance. I don’t run across the street to do it, but if we are going through a door at the same time or waiting in a line I will say “ I love your….”
I read once that you should start your cleaning in a different room each time. We usually have a favorite space to clean(mine is my closet) and we can spend all our time and energy in that space before we get through the whole house. Starting in a different room means every room gets cleaned at some point.
Oh I like the timer idea! One thing that helps me is I go to an overwhelming space/room and pick up 10 things. It can turn into more, or I can stop if I want to and go back and do it again later. 😊
Great video!! I’ve used the what would wear approach, too! I also genuinely compliment others because I love connecting with people around style and beauty. And my “set-a-timer-type” habit (I’m going to try this one!) is a “set of three”: I determine the top 3 things that if I were to complete would make me feel good and accomplished. I also use this approach to remembering things (it would be wiser to write them down but sometimes these things come to me while I’m in the showers or driving). What are three things I need to remember to do. One last thing I try and do is channel my wiser self to determine effective solutions to challenges.
I have been really conscious of telling people the look nice, or their hair or outfit I very pretty. I do this a lot in grocery stores as I notice that many women look like the really made an effort to dress and comb. Especially those a little older and those who are younger. Another tip is to note their name tag when you walk up to the register. And use their name, thank you fran or jim and the same with baggers. I feel good because they smile and they feel good because I recognized 4:31 them.
Hi Anna, interesting ideas! Thank you for sharing. I wanted to let you know that the orange stripe sweater you wore for this video did not do you any favors, unfortunately. BUT, you looked absolutely amazing in the bright green multi sweater you were wearing in the end! Wow, what a difference to your face and your skin tone! Maybe the lighting was different--I don't know, but it's obvious you look best in clear bright vibrant colors, vs the whitish color with the orange stripes.
I do the one with reading a page turning book as a motivator to hop on the treadmill. I’ve been reading the ‘Court’ books by Sarah Maas, which are perfect for this! My other guilty pleasure is actually YT videos, lol. 40 minutes of exercise fly by when split up with short 10 or 15 minute videos (and yes, that it what I’m doing while I watched this!). Can’t wait to try the 5 minute dance one. That is such a cool idea to tap into that ancient impulse to be free and feel the beat. TY!
So funny you said dancing! When things are getting heavy, I’ll start doing sort of funny moves while I talk to my teens. I guess you’d call it dance 😂 or I’ll talk like I’m in a musical. It really brings laughter and smiles and changes the entire vibe. The point is to truly be goofy. It’s sort of carried over in real life, and people have responded really well to it!
👍 Great tips! I've given up coffee because it wasn't helping my anxiety levels. I'm drinking Mushroom coffee substitute now - I'm on week three. It's starting to help. Supposedly, by weekly 10 I should feel like a new person (less anxious).
They did a study on sour candy and it's positive effect on reducing anxiety. Have you tried??? It saved my life in an emergency (I.e.airport..) Love your dance rec.
LOL, 😂😂😂 Dancing is my release! I am sure my neighbors think I’m a little nutty bc I’ll be dancing in my kitchen while doing the dishes (cause I hate doing that) while I’m dancing around my island. This happens usually at night when all the lights are on and I can be seen through my windows! So, you and I belong to the same tribe! Not weird at all! 😝 Oh, and the complimenting other women I have been doing for years! It’s a lot of fun! Thanks for the video!
you're always inspiring Anna! great tips! love that level of saturation of lipstick that you wore in this video - really compliments your skin tone! Also adore your sweater @ 20:40
My husband laughs and calls me weird when I approach strangers to tell them I like something they’re wearing or something else 😂 I don’t hold back .. I file it under , “if you see something , say something “😉 The habit stacking is smart ! I guess I’ve been unwittingly doing it .. watching you or another TH-camr while stretching or doing a Mat workout at home where I’m lying down and watching AND working . The toilet clean is a great jumping off point , smart ! I feel the same about my kitchen sink since I heard they can be as dirty as our toilet 🤢 Thanks for you Mr fun content ! Your eyebrows look great !
Hi Anna, love you and your videos, small request, could we possibly do away with the slasher movie transition sounds they’re seriously freaking me out, especially when I’m listening as I’m doing something! 😳

I got breast cancer at 30. When you start having health problems and taking lots of pills, it can cause a lot of other gut and immunity issues.
Yes! Same! You never know what kind of day someone is having and to hear a genuine compliment is gold ❤️
I’ve found 3 of my favorite hair people by complimenting someone’s hair!
I switched to decaf last year. I know it still has some caffeine but not as much as regular coffee.
What a great video - I’ll try many of these!
Alter ego dressing
Book to do annoying tasks !
Great ideas
I love the name thing! I worked in a grocery store in high school and when people noted my name it stuck out ❤️❤️
You wrote my story
Thanks SAM😊😊😊
I gave up coffee for Lent 2 years in a row. The third year I was EMPHATICALLY TOLD to give up something else! Thank You for this video
Great helpful sharing advice as always.Thank you
❤️❤️❤️
TY!
Oh girl. ACOTAR - I wish I could read them all again for the first time! Such a guilty pleasure series! ❤️❤️
Anna, I guess I’m weird. I think out my outfits for the days activities and plan. Does make getting ready easier. Thanks for the good content.
These were fun and helpful! Great video!
Love all these tips! Great video
Glad you liked this one! ❤️
Great video!! I definitely need to try some of these ideas. Thank you!!!😊
Love this! 💕
Anna. Your makeup looks so good. Particularly that lip colour.
Anna you are so special. Thank you for sharing
You are so welcome! ❤️❤️❤️
I definitely get times of anxiety and I think I’ll take your dancing tip to heart! Thanks Anna!

❤️❤️❤️
Loved the tips. Some I will try right away.
Awesome! Glad you liked this one! ❤️❤️❤️
Thanks! Interesting
Great suggestions!
👍 Great tips! I've given up coffee because it wasn't helping my anxiety levels. I'm drinking Mushroom coffee substitute now - I'm on week three. It's starting to help. Supposedly, by weekly 10 I should feel like a new person (less anxious).
Love mushroom coffee! I drink it in the afternoons if I want a coffee but not the caffeine ❤️❤️❤️ Love Rasa and Mud water!
Anna makes me happy
Thank you, Susan!! ❤️❤️😍😍
I like that... I like the tip about taking the attention off yoursef and putting it on someone else...a random stranger. That is awesome.
Thanks for the tip on Chat GBT! Never heard of it, but sounds amazing!!
you're always inspiring Anna! great tips! love that level of saturation of lipstick that you wore in this video - really compliments your skin tone! Also adore your sweater @ 20:40
Gasped at giving up coffee lol. Funny about the complimenting... I just complimented you on another video. : ) And it is genuine.
Great tips!!
Glad you like them!❤️
My husband laughs and calls me weird when I approach strangers to tell them I like something they’re wearing or something else 😂
I don’t hold back .. I file it under , “if you see something , say something “😉
The habit stacking is smart ! I guess I’ve been unwittingly doing it .. watching you or another TH-camr while stretching or doing a Mat workout at home where I’m lying down and watching AND working .
The toilet clean is a great jumping off point , smart ! I feel the same about my kitchen sink since I heard they can be as dirty as our toilet 🤢
Thanks for you Mr fun content ! Your eyebrows look great !
l like the "start with the shoes " idea
Hi Anna, love you and your videos, small request, could we possibly do away with the slasher movie transition sounds they’re seriously freaking me out, especially when I’m listening as I’m doing something! 😳
Well done. Not weird Thank you for the tips
You are fantastic! So glad that I found you! ❣
I start with cleaning the toilet too! I never thought it was weird. It does lead to cleaning the rest of the house usually.
Thank you Anna I really really appreciated this video!💛
Hi Anna, great video. You look so beautiful and I love your lipstick. Can you share the brand and color? Thanks for all your videos.
Yes! I always forget to list it. It's the lip liner called SOAR from MAC!❤️
Hey Anna...could you please share what white tee you were wearing whe you were discussing AG1? Thanks! 😘
