    Hmm, a person reading extremely fast during a presentation indicates that he/she is bored and simply wants to get through the mundane task.

      Back when I made this video TH-cam had a max length of 8 minutes for videos. That is why I was forced to talk so fast. Sorry if you didn't like it

      Antlerbob it’s a lot of information for me if he went slow I would become uninterested. But speaking faster keeps me engaged in what he is saying.

  • @derekbanas
    @derekbanas  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Sorry about that. Back when I made this video the maximum length for a video was 8 minutes. That is why it is 7 minutes and 57 seconds long. I decided it would be fun to put everything in one video.

    The funny thing is that when I made this video the maximum length for videos was 8 minutes :) That is why I spoke so fast. Sorry about that. I remade a better version of this tutorial called gestures and body language 2

    I do my best :) If you want to control the types of videos I make send me requests. People often ask why I seem to only make programming tutorials. It's because that's what I get requests for. If you want more psych tutorials ask for them and I'll do my best to deliver. Thanks for subscribing :)

    after reading numerous books on body language and gestures I am not sure it pertains to everybody. one must factor in a persons culture and how they were raised. its very very subjective. I know whenever someone makes an observation about my mood or what I am feeling based on my body language, they are always wrong all of the time.

    I like this video, very informative. The only issue with this video, and is probably the worst part is that; the person speaking in it is almost speaking in the speed of light. It seems like he is either so nervous that he can not wait to get this over with or, really late somewhere. Educational videos need to be fully balanced to draw attention and the desire of wanting to understand and absorb the information instead of letting it pass right by us. that way they are introduced for people to understand and grasp. I found myself pausing and rewinding because I couldn't even hear some of the words, you are speaking that fast! The video is great and the information is very valuable, please have patience and try to breath through an introduction of data that way you might become even more informative and you might even be able to think about more ideas to share meanwhile. and it would also be easier to the person watching and listening, a slower voice tone is a softer and easier tone to the human ear. Thank you for this info, it helps a lot.

    • @Wizardi1111
      @Wizardi1111 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      There's a lot of info in the video, it probably took a lot of time to put it all together, EVERYONE would want to get it over with fast. Also people don't have long attention spans, so short video's are a must. And I had no problems understanding anything he said, and english isn't even my main language.

    Yes if people aren't aware that they are being tested it works a large percentage of the time. I was part of an organization that tested thousands of people unknowingly and we came to the conclusion that it works. Even though a few studies say it doesn't I'm 110% convinced that it does :)

  • @derekbanas
    @derekbanas  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    All I can say is that I have met thousands of people in my life. What I learned was that those people that we are supposed to dislike are very often very quick to show their best side only because I did not judged them. I have met many other people that society puts on a pedestal that didn't have a single redeeming quality. I value people purely based on whether they are kind to others. Nothing else has ever mattered to me :)

  • @derekbanas
    @derekbanas  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yes I agree. I have commented numerous times here that base lining is extremely important. I think it is very important to practice these techniques on people before any judgements are made.

  • @derekbanas
    @derekbanas  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Sorry about that. TH-cam used to have maximum length requirements. Gestures and body language 2 is easier to follow

  • @derekbanas
    @derekbanas  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Trust what is written in the presentation. We turn the soft part of our body towards that which we feel is safer, or that which we prefer

  • @derekbanas
    @derekbanas  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Check out gestures and body language 2. You'll prefer it. I made it much more understandable

  • @derekbanas
    @derekbanas  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    I can only tell you what I experienced. I worked for a company that crafted sales presentations for phone and in person sales. We were lucky enough to test this theory with regular office managers in hundreds of locations. The subjects were unaware that they were being tested at the time. Over 80% of the managers found they could tell when someone was lying based on eye movements. This fell in line with research that found 85% of people move their eyes in certain ways when making decisions

  • @derekbanas
    @derekbanas  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    That is why people shouldn't make judgements based on one sign. These signs need to be looked at as a group. I agree with you.

  • @derekbanas
    @derekbanas  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yes I live in Pittsburgh :) youTube used to enforce short videos, but I've kind of adapted to always cover a bunch of data into each video. I'm glad you liked it

    Thank you :) Feel free to send me a direct message using TH-cam, or send me an email derekbanas@verizon.net. I'll do my best to help

  • @derekbanas
    @derekbanas  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thank you :) People do what they do because of about 30 decision making principles. I talk about them in other videos. They are all based of of past experiences. People normally do bad things when they have a very limited number of actions to pick from. I'm planning another video on this topic. Thanks for the request

  • @derekbanas
    @derekbanas  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Everything here is based off of research done in the US. I have been told that many things don't apply in other cultures. I'll cover other cultures if I come across enough information that I believe is legitimate

  • @derekbanas
    @derekbanas  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    You are correct. People expose the soft parts of their body towards the people they prefer or feel safe towards..

    @derekbanas  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    You're very kind to say so :) I very much enjoy making the videos and I'm amazed that people all over the world are watching them.

  • @derekbanas
    @derekbanas  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    I vastly improved on this tutorial in Gestures and Body Language 2 because of input I received on this video

  • @derekbanas
    @derekbanas  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yes that is called mirroring. People mirror others that they like all of the time. It is very common and it happens naturally

  • @derekbanas
    @derekbanas  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    I agree. It is always important to baseline and not immediately judge someone

  • @derekbanas
    @derekbanas  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Most of this comes from law enforcement books I got off of EBay. I cross checked everything with other common books. I get into using negotiation tactics, decision making, etc. in other tutorials. The sales tutorial can work for any form of negotiation. I used to write sales scripts for the biggest telemarketing company so this stuff has been tested hundreds of thousands of times. Feel free to ask questions

  • @derekbanas
    @derekbanas  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thank you :) I improved on this in Gestures and Body Language 2. It is nothing but pictures

  • @derekbanas
    @derekbanas  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thank you :) It is just an overly animated type of body language. They tend to have high self esteem and are easily excited

  • @derekbanas
    @derekbanas  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thank you :) Yes it completely changes the way you see other people. It almost made me feel like I was awake in a new way. If you combine this with knowledge on NLP it will really open up new doors. I'm very happy that you like it.

  • @derekbanas
    @derekbanas  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    That is an important point. You should never make judgements on just one sign. Look for a combination of signs before making judgements

  • @derekbanas
    @derekbanas  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    That is a great position because you are both open and aggressive while at the same time completely protected

  • @derekbanas
    @derekbanas  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yawning is very contagious. If you see someone yawn you instinctively yawn soon after. If 2 people have good rapport they mimic each others actions. Since this is a 2 way street and we can build good rapport by mirroring first this provides an easy way to get someone to mirror your action (a yawn) and immediately get them to mirror you. Does that help?

  • @derekbanas
    @derekbanas  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    I worked with a company that analyzed how to use body language among other things to dramatically improve negotiations over 2 years. This is just the tip of the iceberg of what we discovered.

  • @derekbanas
    @derekbanas  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Basically everyone is different. Chances are very great that you are not maintaining uncomfortable eye contact because if you did people would tell you. Also you are correct that comfortable eye contact is considered to be a good thing. You also don't need to worry about most of what is in this video because less then 1% of people are even aware of body language on a conscious level. Sorry about any confusion I may have created :)

  • @derekbanas
    @derekbanas  11 ปีที่แล้ว

  • @derekbanas
    @derekbanas  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thank you for taking the time to respond. I'll take a look at the books you listed. I want only to provide the best information. I however always had trouble with eye dilation, tonal changes, changing weight distribution, etc. because they can't be analyzed without equipment and a very good eye. I'm no expert, but I was able to work with experts in a very large study. I learned a great deal while teaching machines to do this work. I'll research everything further

    That is why it is very important to baseline and establish good rapport before you analyze someone

    I covered decision making principles in depth. I also showed how to use indirect hypnosis techniques to sell and negotiate. Yes, I love Derren Brown and I've seen all of his stuff :) Pretty much the only thing I haven't covered is hypnotic storytelling. I always felt weird about teaching it to just anyone. If you have ideas on videos, you should make them and maybe make a few bucks. I'd happily promote them for free if I like them

    Thank you :) Yes I spent a great deal of time testing what you can accomplish with NLP. It definitely provides an excellent set of skills. I'm amazed more people don't know about it.
