Thanks for the great video. I recently took the Red-Tag to the central Drakensberg South Africa 🇿🇦 The result was the best stream fishing I have ever experienced. The pattern was irresistible to the wild spawned Brown and Rainbow trout. The fish in this area are known to tough to catch. I was amazed when I saw trout dart across entire pools to chase down this fly on the drift. I fished it under a small indicator.
This video is well done. I’ve tied flies for about 50 years and really get a special joy out of catching a fish on a fly I have tied. This man communicates his excitement and his passion for the same things: tying and then fishing his ties. I was impressed with his tying room, very beautiful and calm! Thanks
The flies are fantastic. I am sure they will work in Colorado. I learned so much watching the fishing segment on Euro nymphs for and Grayling as well. Thanks for taking the time to share your talents!
I found this video to be very informative and enjoyed watching it, I was very impressed with the information and the ability to catch numerous trout and still have the nymph looking the same as the day it was tied
These are great flies. I would love to fish these flies. I have had a long fishing career and have caught countless fish; mainly trout and steelhead. This week I took a younger man up to my favorite spot on the Deschutes River in Central Oregon. I’ve been teaching him how to fish. We were doing tight-line nymphing. I was blessed with a large strong rainbow but he did not get into a fish. I would have him use these flies and hopefully he would hook into a nice rainbow. I sent this video to him. Thanks for your great work!
The quality of your videos is simply fantastic, although I prefer the dry :-) You have managed to make the best nymphing video I have seen and you give very valuable advice. Thanks for that! The tying video is very clear, and I can see that you make the flyes really durable! I am crazy about fishing and I would love to try your flies wherever I go, this summer I will try to go to Finland. Tight lines and thanks again!
Hi guys! Every year we go fishing in Sweden and Noregia. I like to fish for trout on a nymph, and my husband likes to catch grayling on dry fly. We like your channel! All videos are nice to watch. and they are also very informative. It would be nice to add a Russian subtitles.
Great style and thoughtful comments. Love the white fly display stands too. Fishing for grayling on the ruby in Montana. Simple but effective fly tying tying techniques.
Hi, great videos you make. Yes, less on the hotspots. Here in NorthCal here is a high pressure on the fish. Guys use alot of beadheads now days that really scare the fish. Here, one of top 3 flies definetly is zebra midge. Super simple to tie, natural and effective.
The pattern that have worked best for me (and have been given most time) is a frenchie like yours but with salmon pink dubbing as hot spot. I’ve got to try the peacock dubbing though👍🏼 Love the technique twisting the fibers around the thread! Thanks Cato!
Fly tv is always a great show. Thank you for a inspiring fly tying and nymph fishing. Im planing a trip to Åre this summer and would love to try this nymph in the amazing waters for graylings and trouts. So I do hope you send them to me… thanks for a great show…
Merci pour cette belle vidéo 💕 et enfin les sous titres bravo, j'espère que tous les monteurs étrangers vont le faire, c un plus pour nous les français qui ne domine pas l'anglais, en plus le montage est très très bien expliqué 👍🎣
I have tied a similar peacock herl fly for years with no hot spot. It is my biggest producer so I have named it the suction fly. I just tied some with the hot spot and am anxious to try it. Thanks for the tip friend. Should crush fish on the Tuckaseege River in N. Carolina.
Nice nymphs! What size hook do you use for the Red Tag? I saw on the package in the video that it is a Partridge Cech Nymph hook size 20. Is this correct? If I see the flies lying on the table and the other two flies are made on a size 14 jig hook than it doesn't look like a size 20. Thanks for sharing the patterns. I am going to make them to use them in Finland.
I use cdc as a collar on nymphs as well, , but I tie the feather in at the tip and 2-3 turns. . If the cdc is too long grip it with thumb and forefinger near the hook eye and tear off the excess.
Loved the nymphs and your presentation. I especially like the simplicity of the patterns and this series of flies would be wonderful to try in my home waters here in Wisconsin USA. Thanks for a great tutorial.
Great Video...thanks for sharing...just beginning to ty my flies, but with your instruction I enjoy....thanks and go ahead making great fly fishing videos
Thank you for a great video, I like the way you present the videos, and the way you explain things, I have tied up a couple of the Red Tags and the Hare's Ear Nymph and they look great with the Peacock Green dubbing.
Really nicely done, Cato. Your tutorial gave me some new ideas and I'm going to try them myself. Of course, if you want to send me the flies, I'll probably keep them as models for tying. 🧐
Without the bead the orange tag is also great for rudd in smaller sizes and Ides in bigger sizes, especially with fluor green instead of red or orange and with a big black hackle instead of cdc.
Brilliant video. Thanks for sharing. I'd love to try those flies. I'm going to tie them and some variants. Looking forward to your next video. Tight lines.
Great video. Excellent presentation, camera work, and narrative. What did you use to spin the dubbing loop? I have seen videos showing a dubbing loop, but none that go into the basics of “how to” do I a dubbing loop.
My number one fly is a pheasant tail that i tie almost exactly as you do your pheasant tail. However, i use black peacock dubbing instead of green. Do you think i would catch more fish if i tried green?
Very nice, I’m learning to tie euro nymphs I picked up a lot of good tips!! Do you have a video of that whip finish by chance? Love the flys and explanation. Thanks
I forgot to ask about the fluo-markers you use to paint the nylon to serve as strike indicator. Are they normal ones or of some specific kind? Thanks in advance!
Hi ? thank u good picture!! I try to make flies, which I have no natural or grey cdc feather, using white cdc. Rainbow trout does not byte...OTL.;; Ahm.. Cdc color infruence to byte the fries ? I think so. What about u ? Where can I buy the natural or grey cdc ?
Cato, congratulations on an excellent and very instructive video.....and for solving me a problem. I am trying to standardise on just a dozen or so patterns to replace the many, many, many, many, many flies I already have and these three are destined to become my ONLY nymph patterns here on the Yorkshire rivers for wild trout and grayling. My other favourite flies are of course Yorkshire Spider patterns, hope you have tried those early season on your waters? I also liked your bead box, where might I get one? Should I win, your flies they would be great models to work from and then displayed along with those I've been fortunate to get from Oliver Edwards and Marc Petitjean and Hans van Klinken Thanks Again and Regards
Hace 1 año que vengo pescando con esas ninfas y realmente son letales, mueven truchas grandes. Yo las uso con un dropper o para la pesca al hilo y van súper bien...
those simple suggestive patterns will catch fish all over the world..nicely done..you are definately better off making a amore durable fly when you counterwrap your material then wrap your wire rib in the direction of your thread yet most everyone does it the opposite way..if you think about it when u counterwrap a wire rib you are actually somewhat loosening it when you tie it off because your thread is not going the same direction if that makes sense but it is 100% true..
Nice nymphs dude and really well demonstrated too. I actually feel I might be able to manage these following your clear instruction! lol. I’d give them a go on the Upper Thames.....
Love your detail any simple instructions I’m over 70 but love fishing your patterns would cherish to have theses flies!!!!

This guy can't be a real feather bender. look at his desk, so clean, so pristine.
It's just a rented log cabin for a day or two near Kuusamo Finland
@@anttitapio4145That’s correct 😊 It doesn’t look that clean in my own workshop home!
I found this video to be very informative and enjoyed watching it, I was very impressed with the information and the ability to catch numerous trout and still have the nymph looking the same as the day it was tied
The hares ear with cdc has worked very well for me. Thanks from Canada 🇨🇦
Great video. I have learnt stuff I wish I knew long ago. Simple ties which I don't I doubt will work.
No fancy vanity stuff, just common sense.
Please! More vodeos with this guy! Amazing video! 🎄happy new year!
Using UV reactive thread as ribbing is a great idea. Great video
The red tag broke my slump. Even caught a smallmouth with it. Great pattern can’t wait ti try them all again.
Lovely! Cheers Danny
These flies look so good!
Thank you, and they are really effective!
I love that custom whip finish tool!!! 😀😀😀❤️❤️
Ha-ha, custom made by a good colleague and friend :D

I tie very similar patterns down-under in NZ. I really appreciated your informative video. Well done and thanks.

@@troutmc1000 Hi Patrick, I'm not sure what It's called. It's an old indian spinner. Cheap.

Awesome video man! I'm going to the North Platte River for the 1st time this fall would love to try these three buggers!

Yes !My first from you is ready:-) Thanks vor instruktion !!
I always take 1 turn of thread under the CDL tail fibers. It helps to hold them up and out.
Smart move!
Not many flies work in the rivers here but I'm betting that cdc style thorax will really help... Thank you!!!
Nice flies man, subscribed right away.
Pick me! Pick me! 😊 Those 3 flies would make a great addition to my shadow box. 😍
Really nicely done, Cato. Your tutorial gave me some new ideas and I'm going to try them myself. Of course, if you want to send me the flies, I'll probably keep them as models for tying. 🧐

Really like that box for the bead heads...any idea which on that is?
I will test them in NZ!
So will I 😂😂
Great video and so fun to see what an experienced competitor are fishing with (but I guess you keep your secret patterns for your self;)
Want to start winter grayling fishing and need to know what flies to use many thanks
What kind of box do you have your beads stored in?
Thanks for the great video! Your 3 fly choices look very effective and would work perfect where I fish. Hopefully I can get a few!

Great looking flies!! Going to try these here in BC for greyling, whats the plastic clip your using to put the CDC in the dub loop?
bravo la traduction est bien belle mouche . merci
I'm going to fill my box with these.
These are absolutely my favorite nymphs, they have worked amazingly for me this summer. Will you be doing more patterns? I hope so.
Glad they worked, Danny! I will publish more patterns in the future on me and my friends TH-cam and webpage. Cheers

Fish on Productions do a nice box of tungsten beads in either countersunk or slotted, good quality

i can't see what you're doing with the feathers
Can i buy these somewhere?
Dont pick me. As i will just tie them myself nothing matches the excitement of catching a fish on something you made yourself. Fishing rod included.
How do you make the flyline!?
