He might be a good player, but at this concert, his guitar was tuned down too low......Girls recording requires the guitar part to be upfront or loud in the mix. The guitar carries the tune, but not here......it's the vocal and the keys. The guy at the mixing board blew it.
the 5 original members are irreplaceable, the truth is that Andy Taylor should never have left the band in 2006, he always put the classic rock touch with his guitar. I pray 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼that one day he thinks it over and returns to Duran Duran. Without Andy the band doesn't sound like a lot of people want😟
This is the best Live Version of Girls on Film I ever heard I was really impressed with Andy's style of Guitar he blew the rest of the band away I mean you see it in John's face towards the end of the song! I still Love Duran Duran but never the same without Andy Taylor Hoping one day he will again do another reunion with them.
Anyone who really knows knows that this performance at this moment with this lineup with this particular song with this london crowd and recording quality is the best version of Duran Duran live anyone will ever hear. This is them at their very best. Andy brings an urgency to the music that is sorely lacking in their other manifestations. And I love songs like Notorious and Come Undone and many others without A.T., but he is the only who can play these classic Duran Duran songs from the first 3 albums the way they are meant to be heard. The others are great guitarists, but Andy is the greatest guitarist for DD.
This is the post punk new wave, not funcky of the 70's..Andy was there for some reason, their sound was suppost to be not just one more synth pop, pop funcky band. And Andy is not only a guitar player to play whoever pop songs...I'm not saying Andy is the best piece of DD, but they are not Roxy music, OMD, Human League... They are a best set of five: SLB, AT, JT, RT, NR. It's what it is, and that is Duran Duran.
Everyone talks about John being a great bass player, but lets give props to Nick! If it wasn't for Nick, Duran Duran wouldn't sound the way they do! Roger is awesome on the drums!
Before Roger quit the band it seemd like he had a sort of sadness about him. Like he didn't want to be there. But now that he came out of retirement this is the happiest that I've ever seen him.
Ladys and gents, on the stage: Mr Nick Rhodes, Andy taylor, Roger Taylor, Simon le Bon and John Taylor, 5 extra top musicians, yesterday, today and tomorrow, enought said.
This concert was DD's best live performance ever by a mile. Much better than anything they did in the 80's. As well as this great ending - Ordinary World and Come Undone were unbelievable. These things that we thought of as pop songs back in the day we rightly recognize now as masterpieces. All of the band are good in their own rights but it has to be said that this concert was as good as it was because of Andy Taylor. The best songs of the night were all centered around his guitar playing. He didn't write or play on the studio version of Come Undone and he doesn't play it the same way that Warren did. He simplified the guitar parts on the verses and hardened them up a little bit in terms of the sound. But those alterations completely changed the nature of the song. In the studio version it feels like the beat and the pace of song has already set and the guitar is accompanying it - not in the background exactly but it's playing on top of what's already going on. The way Andy plays it transforms the guitar part into the main driver of the song. Don't get me wrong the studio version of Come Undone is fantastic - DD's best in fact. But this live version is better. In my view and regardless of the rights and wrongs of who left and why, Duran Duran is simply a better band when Andy Taylor is in it.
TheSmithDorian Very Good observation on Andy's excellent guitar playing. He was exceptional that night, gave the songs that extra grind and heavier sound.
Nobody else can rock it in concert like DD!!!! Today's "musicians" can compare to DD's live shows!!!! Play the F*******ing bass John... Just the best bass player out there!!!!
Can't say they were my cup of tea back in my teen days when they first hit the scene in the early 80's. But effin-a they were talented. It's just when you grew up listening to all your older brother's Zeppelin, Stones, Areosmith, and Deep Purple albums, it was hard to morph over to this style.
7:56 Wow! Look at how happy Roger is. I don't think he was ever this happy before. I think that now that he's back in the band again he seems so happy. Whereas before he wasn't very happy at all. :(
I've seen DD live 4 times and this tour was the best by far. They were all at the top of their game. I feel so fortunate to have gotten to meet them backstage and have a ring-side (closer than front row) view. They did not disa
Everybody is arguing over who was responsible for D2's sound but I'm of the school of thought that if a drummer doesn't know how to keep the rhythm going then there's no way a band like this will EVER sound as good as this.

I have to say that is the funny thing I have seen with Simon sitting by the drums after John finishes his solo saying,"I'm just gonna sit here and no one will know that I've gone." Then he starts whistling. Nick goes thru a list of his former occupations before joining Duran Duran, and then introduces him. Even Andy is smiling at this whole thing. They look so close then. Too bad it didn't last.
Oh my God! I love Duran Duran in concert! Can't believe I didn't see this video until now. Start at 3:00 mark for best jam session ever. Guitar & bass riffs at the end are amazing. You could tell John, Rog & Andy had a blast jamming together! You can definitely hear each instrument & every crazy sound that Nick & Simon can possibly bring forth!
Watch Andy when Simon is sitting down near the drums near the end of the song when Nick introduces Simon. You can see Andy smiling and looking at Simon as Nick goes thru the various occupations Simon had before joining the band especially when he says "milkman's assistant." Then when Andy plays his solo at the end Simon and John smile and seem to be enjoying it. Simon even starts dancing around to it. That is what I meant. They seemed to be having fun 2gether then.
This song makes me wanna play the bass guitar. Wow John Taylor is a beast on the bass guitar on this song. He should join the who he kinda plays like the late John Entwistle with that punchy bass lines
no matter what, DD will always be perfect. maybe not to you but maybe to other people, that solo that nick did was awesome. but its ur opinion and I respect that.
Only WORLD CLASS musicians can deliver live music like this.
Very true. Loved them in the eighties. And still do.
Andy Taylor is probably the most underrated guitar player of all time. He’s good….really good.
Both with the great John Taylor that really really is amazing.!!
He might be a good player, but at this concert, his guitar was tuned down too low......Girls recording requires the guitar part to be upfront or loud in the mix. The guitar carries the tune, but not here......it's the vocal and the keys. The guy at the mixing board blew it.
@@johnmaer nah the bass was waaaay too quiet here. The bass drives those early records, especially "Rio" the song
@@rachelar Never equated bass as the prominent sound in Duran. Keys, guitar....yes, but bass it always got slighted in the mix.
Andy and John are 2 of the best by far at their instruments
There are a small handful of bands who's live shows sound way better than their albums and Duran Duran is one of them. Iconic!
John Taylor's bass line is fire.
John Taylor, now and then the sexiest man in Rock and Roll ever.
Agreed.

Denise B watch the Fashion Rocks 2003 version of Girls on Film. Love it and Andy rocks that one like no one's business!
the bass is where it's at
Andy kicked ass!
They all kicked ass But Andy rocked it!
@@mad5210 I got a chance to see it & i agree 100% with you on that one
finding andy taylor, john taylor, and roger taylor not as a brothers, now that's a band miracle.....

They bring something that is TOTALLY missing from today's music musicianship!!!!
There aren't many musicians that sound as good live as in the studio. Duran sound better!! Utterly amazing.
The most perfect band ever!!!
@Peter Angles They are not Pop, they are New Wave....
@Peter Angles wdum synth pop and new wave rocks
Most perfect band ever? Did u heard Led Zeppelin ?
@@fabiannaya2067 led zeppelin are far from perefect
Greatest band EVER!!!Just wished Andy was always with them.He adds a unique sound to them
Wow! If this song doesn't describe the sound of the 80s I don't know what does.

So great to see Andy on axe again. And he rocked it, much to the appreciation of the rest of the band!
Miss ya Andy!! Love ya man!!
most rockin' version of them - great!
P.S. Andy we miss you!

My fave Duran Duran song, oh the memories
Was no mega fan back then, but as the years rolled on, there is no denying their collective genius.
Been a fan since 1983 ,the greatest band ever ,DD forever ❤️🤍💙🇬🇧❤️🤍💙🇬🇧X .
Nice to see Nick bringing his Jupiter 8 out of retirement. Far too valuable to take on tour nowadays
Lucky sod has 3 of them.......
Before Roger quit the band it seemd like he had a sort of sadness about him. Like he didn't want to be there. But now that he came out of retirement this is the happiest that I've ever seen him.
the bass is so awesome in this song
Who ever called this a boy band is NUTS! FUCKING brilliant!!!!!!
True, look at these mature dudes just doing their thing, experience, what a turn on!
