John Taylor's bass playing deserves its own spotlight!
This is one of those rare bands of this vintage that has maintained or improved over time. Incredible.
I wouldnt say improved. His vocals are nowhere near as good as they used to be. Still good, but definitely not an improvement

John Taylor is the most underrated bass player in music.
He's not known for taking risks with time signatures and Alternate music styles. Underrated? No Perfect for that band? More likely boy band member that could play

Can you imagine looking around at your mates, with whom you’ve played these songs thousands of times, and thinking, “who would’ve thought we’d be here??” I saw them on tour this year, and now catching all of these videos- and the thing that strikes me (besides how under-rated they are) is how much joy they have for their craft and for each other. Just really cool to watch

Ironically, they were always a real music band, and discarded initially. And I listened to DD from 1982 i also thought before I listend, at age 11 they were girly. That was until I heard Planet Earth. Then the world of DD opened up.

He finally got a vocal coach a few years ago after he lost his voice suddenly. Really paid off.
The 80s sound will be placed in a Museum those Hypnotic and Atmospheric sounds will be held dear for all of us for now and the future.

Dave air drumming is EVERYTHING
At their live show; The Edge of U2 keeping the beat, Dave Grohl of Nirvana & Foo Fighters playing the air drum, Pink and Gwen Steffani singing and dancing along to the songs, Ed Sheeran and especially Lionel Richie giving a standing ovation must be more valuable for Duran Duran than being elected to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. What a talented and diverse audience ! We love them 🎶

I was a bit unprepared for how amazing they sound in 2023. Simon sounds better now than 30 years ago. A bit of technology has really helped there although the man has taken care of the vocal chords over the decades. After trying to ignore and make excuses for how pale the recent Madonna concerts sound I can breathe a sigh of relief concerning the boys, Duran Duran. One of the best sounding Rock and Roll induction medleys I have ever seen.
He's been through it...almost lost his voice a few years ago but got a vocal coach and it helped tremendously. I saw them live last June and they were great. Just imperfect enough that you could tell they were doing for real if that makes sense

I saw them in L.A in October, 1981 at The Roxy Theatre. I think it was their first American tour! It was awesome!

Live and no backing singers…. Still tremendous musicians into their 60s, this is real talent and a well deserved accolade!

Duran Duran is one of the all time greats. They've got their unique sound, everybody who is born 70's or before will know immediately when they hear what band this is.

I grew up listening to the 80's songs, particularly New Wave. Duran Duran is always at the top of my list ! They truly deserved this ❤ What a legendary group!
I've been waiting to finally enjoy this performance and I was not disappointed at all. They sounded so good. I am happy to see them get their due recognition.

I live in NE Ohio and am honored that Cleveland was chosen for the rock and roll Hall of fame.
Saw them in 1984 at the Worcester Centrum (Massachusetts). My friends and I were 18-19 years old and this was our generation's "boy band". 2 of my friends camped out overnight at the Centrum box office to get tickets. We ended up in the 3rd row. Only paid $25 a piece for those tickets back then. Could never afford those kind of seats now. I'm glad they sound as good live now as they did back then - Simon's voice is still great. Really wish I caught them back in September when they were in Boston. Hope they tour in this area again soon.

I saw them in 1981 - their first UK headline Tour.
I know these guys, I certainly know them, the older they get, the better they get, I know Le Bon had a difficult time but I'm very honored that together they started the "Giants" again a hug ❤

RHOF DD show was Great! It was amazing. DD waited 40 years but they made it. They sound the same as day one. I'm glad I was there.

My favorite new wave band ever by far
Hungry like the Wolf is def my favorite Duran Duran song, but the most underrated is A View to a Kill. The best Bond theme song ever.
I'll almost agree with that. Live and Let Die is the best Bond theme ever, IMHO, but A View to a Kill is a very very close second.

Although he did not perform with them hear, for the first time in many years Andy Taylor performs with them on their new album in 2023: Danse Macabre. Also on the album for the first time in years on a few other songs is Warren Cuccurullo. It may be their last album but they brought everyone back for it. This is despite the fact that Andy has an untreatable cancer Some say the best new song is Black Mightnight is one of the songs Andy Taylor did. I have always been amazed that even in the last decade they have had a few successful hits, such as in 2015 on Paper Gods which had Pressure Off, featuring Nile Rogers return and their return to the top 20 in the USA. Not bad for a band which started out over 40 years ago.
Last album? They've already mentioned plans for their 2024 project
@@michaelengle9062 I meant the last album for Andy Taylor. It is doubtful he will make it to the next album. Maybe Warren will appear on it but I have my doubts.
