All these people saying that it's okay for him not using pushers because he's a professional. If he isn't prioritizing safety over all else, he's probably not a professional. Also, I'm pretty sure that professionals wear pants too.
+The Original English Martial Arts Channel well, thank you for the inspiration. I'm just building knife sharpening jig right now, so I'll do the sabre guard in some next episode. Do not forget to subscribe.
When I saw him on that table saw, I came down to the comment section ...it's exactly as I thought. lol Believe it or not, it's usually not the noobs who injure themselves, but one that's been doing it for decades and gets complacent. Worst table saw injury I got was from using push sticks and got a kickback into my ribs, but my little brother has scars on the tips of 2 fingers that still give him pain from 7 years ago and he was a 10 year exp. cabinet maker when it happened. Long story short, 2 weeks of rib pain beats years of finger tip pain (or missing finger tips), so best to use push sticks or buy a saw like my uncle that stops when it senses your skin.
I would not trust that blade to stay in that handle, over time it will work loose and hopefully no one gets in the way as it flies out of the handle as you go to chop something, it's the vibrations over time, it may seem well secure but suddenly it may just fly out.
flitsies 4 of mine has the traditional handle, no pin. 100% solid. I believe they hot fit and glue them in. You would either have to destroy the handle or whack it hard somehow with a hammer to get it off, if it's fitted correctly.
Ok fare enough, but were It my blade I would fit a pin just as a precaution, because you can't bring people back if the mistake is big enough. I recall a report on the radio some time back of a street road worker who was using his sledgehammer who swung it and the head came off flew across the road and killed a child, now that child would still be a live had there been some precautions on the connection of the head on that hammer. Also, just because things were done a certain way in the ancient times don't make it the best way, we progress to better safer standards. And personally I would put a pin even if it were a small pin just to give me a safety margin should the blade become loose.
Tie zdlhavejsie a casovo narocnejsie prac.ukony by som navrhoval vo videach trochu skratit a zostrihat.
First about the safety when u use your tools.. Second about the safety of the handle.. I give you half of one star cause beutiful artwork.. How its gonna be use when you cut into two pieces and glue it each other.. Its can use for heavy duty work? Hahah save your hand
welcome to TH-cam, where less experienced people give their 2 cents and opinions on channels of experienced semi professionals because they have nothing better to do
I may not know anything about this, but I think i've watched enough restoration videos to know you drop the blade in a bathe before grinding. I may be wrong since he clearly has more knowledge than I do, but i just found that a bit strange based on what i've watched so far.
That "sword" really isn't worth saving. Its obviously some kind of wall hanger or tourist item. The tang is a tiny rat tail tang and was probably spot welded on. If this is all you have or your just trying to get some practice go for it but I wouldn't try to use it for anything.
What they said! Lol. A neighbour of mine lost most of his fingers on his right hand in a saw accident. Not worth it. You could have broken another bit of ski as a push stick.
Angry Potato Being a proffesional is irrelevant .He shouldnt wear gloves either. he should use push sticks. I work with saws for more or less 32 years. its no joke.
Guys I'm pretty sure this dude know what's he's doing. stop worrying about his fingers and watch the damn video. This guy is most likely more experienced then you.
Just because you (maybe) know what you're doing or even do it for a living doesn't mean you should be so careless. One small mistake and he's a finger short. Worst case, a hand. Try and go to a carpentry school and use the big machines without safety features, get kicked out or seriously hurt.
Yeah I know I guess more of what I am saying is that there doesn't have to be 200 comments about it. Like 5 is enough. And if he does get hurt he will learn from his mistake. Sorry if that comment was misleading.
OR you could look up how to return the blade to soft workable untempered state and not have to keep destroying all your sanding belts and files ....then when it is all ready , look up how to heat treat and harden it to a nice blade ....unless it is just going to be a wall hanger in which case who cares.....
This is not proper hilt of saber, and not blade of saber ether. length and width of blade, it seems to cutlass or hanger. What ever name of this blade, you must make tang longer than grip so that spoke out tiny bit. You have to strike with hammer to that part to make wider than hole of grip. It called "pinning". Pinning's make sure blades are not shoot out when you use them. Your way in this video, is just what cheap chineses garbage-ish fruit knifes are.
Thank you for making the push stick...I was having anxiety attacks waiting for your thumb to go through that blade!
Amazing video, I love restoring old blades and making them nice again. Got a Sudanese kaskara in the other day I plan on doing for my next project.
Now that is a seriously cool blade!!! Well done!!
Wow. That guy is very comfortable with the saw blade.
Whenever I see someone operate a table saw with their bare hands it sends shivers up my spine.
Yeh, same to me. Than sanding by the machine and evertings gone. Thank you, stay in touch.
It's more dangerous to wear gloves than bare skin, perhaps you mean he should of used a push stick
Very good restoration. Now you can hang the sabre on your wall for decoration.
+Josip Koprivanac thank you so much., this one is to be used for real work. I appreciate it when working in my forest to cut the weed.
You are gonna learn the hard way about shop safety.
All these people saying that it's okay for him not using pushers because he's a professional. If he isn't prioritizing safety over all else, he's probably not a professional. Also, I'm pretty sure that professionals wear pants too.
Sťe velmi šikovný , a zručný zaslužiťe si vädšiu sledovanosť a viac odoberaťelov , skvelé video ! :)
That is *the most* backyard type of workshop I've ever seen.
I love how all these people that took shop in high school are giving this guy that uploaded a video doing what he loves so much shit.
lol I love the way you do your videos 👍
+Joel Moore thank my friend.
I see, safety is not your number one priority 😆
great restoration, never seen a tool like that before. do you know where it came from?
Nice video, I would have liked to see you make a sabre guard for it as well
+The Original English Martial Arts Channel well, thank you for the inspiration. I'm just building knife sharpening jig right now, so I'll do the sabre guard in some next episode. Do not forget to subscribe.
Holy shit I couldn't watch you slide that ski through the table saw without a scrap piece of wood.
Straight up sharpening a sword in his boxers lol good vid
Use push sticks man. I you count on your fingers you can buy 7.
If it was a "Wait for it" it would be placed on Live Leak!

Skin sensing won't save your liver from kickback.
Kickback comes from using push sticks. Which is what happened to me. Using your hands, kickback is _much_ less likely!
Raising the stakes like by not using a push stick won't make you pay less (averaged over 5000 user years). Using a rriving knife will.
I would not trust that blade to stay in that handle, over time it will work loose and hopefully no one gets in the way as it flies out of the handle as you go to chop something, it's the vibrations over time, it may seem well secure but suddenly it may just fly out.
Ever seen Japanese knives?
Don't they normally have a peg that goes through the handle, would make sense and easy to do.
flitsies 4 of mine has the traditional handle, no pin. 100% solid. I believe they hot fit and glue them in. You would either have to destroy the handle or whack it hard somehow with a hammer to get it off, if it's fitted correctly.

Or even a wooden peg, If I recall didn't the Japanese sword makers use bamboo pegs, and the early knife makers use wooden pegs.
good video man
from around 6mins I found myself trying to count how many fingers you had left

Socks and Sandals alert at 5:10
Socks and sandals socks and sandals bitches can't handle my socks and sandals
Great Video, but maybe saying a word or two would be nice to :)
ok, thanks for recommendation, stay in ouch.
Shit dude, ever heard of fucking pants?
Andrew lol😂😂😂
I guessed he didn’t?
sound like happy tree friends in the background
WOW this guy took a piece of junk and made it into more junk but he showed me how to cut off fingers the quickest way. Thanks Dude.
just a fun fact, but if you soak a rusty weapon in vinegar overnight it removes the rust and all you have to do is clean it up with steel wull
Yes, you are right but the final surface is not the same as grinded one.
fair enough, i though i might just pass on a tiny bit of knowledge that i picked up great vid by the way
Thank you so much, I suppose I will use that vinegar technique in some other episode.
oh cool.
nice work on your cutlass but you forgot to add a knuckle bow
“Now remember... safety is #1 prior...” wait who tf is this guy
So... no hilt (handguard) or pommel? Odd for a Cavalry Sabre.
welcome to TH-cam, where less experienced people give their 2 cents and opinions on channels of experienced semi professionals because they have nothing better to do
check every professional woodworker they all use push sticks ... he isn't professional he's careless
Your comment is a prime example of these things
Joel Gregory
Ahhhha !!!!! 👆🏻 There’s one right there lol
Bufford Evans xD
Bufford Evans he even made one in the video amazing xD I don't think anyone pointed that out
I may not know anything about this, but I think i've watched enough restoration videos to know you drop the blade in a bathe before grinding. I may be wrong since he clearly has more knowledge than I do, but i just found that a bit strange based on what i've watched so far.
remove that saw blade so you can cut wood safely

Hi Karl, what a great idea, shoud do some.
why would you not pin the tang in properly, epoxy is good but not fullproof.
+Fat Roller I made a lot of work with it and it's still ok.
Id be inclined to avoid being in the area while you swing and use it. it will fail at some point
Flea market?
That's a lot of metal for such a small handle and nothing but epoxy holding it in
+cody lefler I already made a hard work in forest with it and still ok, will see.
plz be careful round saw bench or table saw plz hand safety first plz
+Malik Atta will be careful, be sure. The distance on the movie seems closer than it is in real.
Stop worrying about this guys hands,he is probably so experienced that he doesn’t need gloves

Michal Kadlec dekuji za pomoc
Man, you have too much fingers for the guy who work with the saw like that
That wtf-looking tang though.. Not sure I'd use it for cutting.
... šavličku měl nabroušenou, na boku ji nosíval... :-DDD
more of a tulwar,or a shamshir then a saber without the guard
this man never uses nails he jsut glues
Další super video.Nechcete skusit vyrobit karambit ???
Guys I'm pretty sure this dude know what's he's doing. stop worrying about his fingers and watch the damn video. This guy is most likely more experienced then you.
and guess who drones the most? people who knows how to swim. never forget safety.
Yinan Liu Drowns*
yeah u r right. drowns* sorry
Just because you (maybe) know what you're doing or even do it for a living doesn't mean you should be so careless. One small mistake and he's a finger short. Worst case, a hand. Try and go to a carpentry school and use the big machines without safety features, get kicked out or seriously hurt.

I think the handle is too short for that sword
looks like a small falx.

That's a hanger or cutlass. Too short for a sabre.
french briquet sabber
You forgot to put a hilt on it
Russian saber ?
wow your going to cut your fingers off with your table saw
And the coffee ? Jjjjjssss
Ramon Campos haha, this is actually old video, the coffe part came later to my videos.

Stronger swing and see how your saber flew away from you. The handle is bullshit.
