    Man, Im so happy to not have to move theese 50kg front weights any more. I always did put them on a palette on a forklift, to not have to drop them on the ground. Also I did not have to pick them up from the ground then. And they are movable by the forklift, so that I dont have had to see them in the meantime. ;-)

      @peteparker7396 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      bmw1894 they are called suit case weights, hence the handle! Most of them have a wedge with a bolt in the back to keep them tight. I’m guessing Warren did away with that when he overhauled this tractor... after so many years in the dirt those bolts get froze and just twist off.

    How many clutches in that bad boy? I used to work for a Same Deutz Fahr dealer and some of the newer powershuttle tractors had 6 clutches. 2 per range. Pain in the arse when one pack would leak. It would get stuck between 2 ranges. Keep up the good work

    • @Kfarming

      Dave McGarry those power shifts have 11 directional clutch packs, with a park brake and if it was a wheeled tractor the MFWD clutch would be in there as well.

  • @peteparker7396
    @peteparker7396 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Always wondered how you split a T,,,, you’re right, tractor with front wheels is easier I’d say!!! But I like how JD did with the 8000 series, makes them a whole lot easier to split then the old 30, 40, 50, 55, and 60 series wasn’t as bad but pretty close. Power shifts are great until they come apart,,,, lost one in a 50 series in 98,,,, it was 15 grand back then,,,, can’t imagine what they cost now. We just trade before they get to many hours on them 😁

    I really enjoy your videos, you are truly a master of your trade. The only thing I find is that you are indeed informative about the repair but not on why it's there in the first place. Obviously you are telling us the way to tear it apart but why? What's wrong with it? Or how old is it? Is it expensive piece of equipment? Those things I'd like to know before you start. Again you are truly an awesome with mechanical issues, thanks for sharing your thoughts and videos.

    • @buffsheeri
      @buffsheeri 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@Johnditit Thanks for reply, but the description is very vague ...why tear it apart? Whats broke? How old is this machine? Whats a powershift? If you are not familiar with farm equipment this info would help a lot.

    • @scruffy6151
      @scruffy6151 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@buffsheeri the only way to find what is broke or not working is to take it apart. Powershift is a tranmission. The only way to get the tranmission out is to split the engine and tranmssion. What year the tractor is google it.
      Just trying to help ok.

    • @maxwellw70
      @maxwellw70 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@buffsheeri he mentions it's age in a previous video I believe. If you want some info particular to this tractor www.tractordata.com/farm-tractors/005/9/9/5995-john-deere-8300t.html is a good place to start. This channel is more of a passive educational style, more "let's do a thing" instead of "here is how to do a thing". Pretty good, shows you what the work/pacing is actually like for this kind of job.

    • @maxwellw70

    Sir, I have a question I'd like to ask. I know some of your viewers will think that it is a stupid question, but i have to ask, and see what your opinion is on this idea. I noticed that when you pulled the intake piping, that you didn't tape or cover the openings with a rag or tape ir or such. Now I've noticed some mechanics do and some don't do that. The ones that do claims it's to keep dust and dirt out of the intake. The mechanics that don't claim they just wipe everything out as it goes back together. So my question to you, sir, is it important to keep the intake clean during teardown or just during reassembly....

      Joe Franklin , our 8200T did 9800hrs and then started slipping on one clutch pack. We put a JD re-man box in it because nobody was sure they could rebuild it properly over here in Scotland. Large portion of the bill was labour, don’t want that bill twice!!!!

    the engine was designed by a mechanical engineer who only cared about tolerances, the wiring was designed by an engineer with the thought of solid connections only and did not talk to the mechanical engineer. neither put into thought that someone might have to fix something until after the production run started and a book was made on how to fix the mess.
