    Got a 2005 SLE supercharged from the factory with 115k miles. Had it since 2012. Love it

    I had one that looked exactly like this except it had a few more options. It was a one owner that was well taken care of and had 100,000 miles on it when I bought it. I put a good set of tires on it after I got it and absolutely loved the way it drove and handled. Had no problems with it except for the fog lights which burned out often. I think they got too hot. I saw online where a guy said he drilled a hole in the top of the housing to let heat out and that helped. It was one of the most comfortable and best driving cars I have ever owned and I've had a lot of them. The dash and controls and seating position were perfect and Pontiacs had full gages that were very easy to read. Unfortunately I got carjacked when I think two guys mistook it for a GXP! It was found about 5 days later totalled out because it had damage on the front and both sides.

    Great choice and selection. I often wondered about the reliability on them. I was a fan of the Bonneville for decades. I own two Oldsmobiles. If I bought a third car, it might be a Bonneville SSE. I want all the features. You did well for yourself. Take care of that car.

    Really nice car! I have an 00 Bonneville SE and absolutely love it! They are so roomy and comfortable. I was really disappointed when GM gave Pontiac the axe. The 3800 series engine is really bulletproof. I have only had issues with old/bad sensors, and normal wear/tear items. My car tends to shake when I'm on the highway too... when I get up to around 70 mph and I'm not sure why. I've looked on the forums and it's a mystery. Also certain throttle body sensors can cause this car to hesitate when going up a hill or incline. Glad that's taken care of. Having said all that, these are really amazing cars. I love mine to death. Great ride and safe vehicle. Keep up the good work on your channel. Just subscribed. :)

    Really nice looking car. If you see any corrosion forming around the gas cap area where those seem welds are, just clean it, touch-up paint it and keep it waxed really well... I try to keep every inch of painted metal (and plastic for that matter) really well waxed to prevent rust and sun damage.

      Aye, I'm getting a SE within the next couple weeks. Platimum with 130k miles. I was really suprised it was 11 years old, it feels great. I think I like it more than my parent's 2009 Ford Fusion, which I would say is my favorite car i've driven, currently. Then again, anything feels great compared to my 99 Cavalier I just sold. Not too sure on the rare bit though, the dealer i'm getting it from has three bonnevilles. lol

    The 3800 V6 in my humble opinion was one of General Motors best efforts at a V-6 in all of their history. The 3130 400 we’re pretty good as well, but they don’t quite measure up to the 3800. And I am assuming that has the 4T65E transaxle which was not necessarily known for its reliability or longevity. Then again, I have seen some vehicles with that transmission with over 200,000 miles.

    • @benvw1999
      @benvw1999  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      There’s definitely been things I’ve needed to replace after 259k miles. I just did front rotors and one caliper as the slide pins were dry and rusted, and the caliper itself was sticking. Other than that, it never really had problems. Alternator went out once. Minor electrical things like backlighting for the buttons inside have burnt out and have been replaced

    • @benvw1999
      @benvw1999  4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Man, it was almost 5 years ago. I believe the code was P1811. The pressure control solenoid in the transmission was bad. It caused harsh shifting once it was warmed up. I band-aided it with a shift kit from TransGo, but eventually even that couldn't keep up and I had to replace the solenoid in the transmission. Cheap part, but labor is a complete pain in the ass.

      Only the early models had problems with the heads getting warped if it overheated. If it didn't get overheated they usually didn't have any problems. They put larger head bolts in the later models and problem was solved. The Northstar V8 was all aluminum and was actually lighter than the 3800 V6. The later model Northstars were very reliable.
