I've lived my whole life in New England (as did my parents, grandparents, great grandparents, etc.). When I was a child in the late 1940s and early 50s, the whole family would get together each summer for a clambake on the beach. My grandfather would take his clam rake and youngest grandchildren to the edge of the ocean and dig clams which we'd collect in buckets while my father and uncles would be pulling up their lobster traps. Our meal consisted of chowder, corn, lobsters and crabs, potato salad, and clams with watermelon for dessert. I was happy to see real clam chowder like my grandmother made with the clam broth and not the thick, floury variety restaurants sell to tourists. All your programs are excellent and I've watched each one multiple times. Many thanks!
Hi Mark, We just returned today from Boothbay Harbor and the Great Clam Bake. It was everything you said it would be and more. We had a wonderful time, we took pictures with the brothers and just watching them prepare the food was an experience all in itself! The family thanks you for the exposure. Great job and keep sharing your experiences so I can go more places.
You’ll never forget it. Went with parents and camping group 1965, still remember the lobster’s and clams. Dad said it was good price $2 per lobster, $1 for all the clams you could eat.
Today’s prices….lobsters $20.00 a pound and clams can go for almost $1.00 each. The amount on what was given (clams) is probably close to $10.00 in a restaurant. So I save up and will enjoy both on my vacation to Cape Cod in September. 💜🦞💜🦪💜🥔🧅🌽🥚💜

All my grandparents were from Maine, and I grew up spending my summers between Augusta, Freeport, and Brunswick. My uncle put on clambakes like this one every single summer. One of my grandfathers was a lobster trapper, and would bring in BUKUS of lobster for the feast. My uncle and I would head down to the end of Simpson's Point Road and collect many large trashbags full of kelp from beside the boat launch ramp. The kelp had little bulbs on it that were full of seawater, and as the fire heated them up they would pop... spraying seawater all over the food, and keeping it wet. AWESOME!!! Thanks for the memory!

Being from New England I used to camp at Sebago Lake in Maine. Maine is amazing. Can I also say how proud I am of my fellow New Englanders working this clam bake. How hard they work to serve others is very commendable.
Wow! NEW ENGLAND CLAMBAKE! 298 LOBSTERS, 5 PDS OF CLAMS, SWEETEST CORN ON THE COB EVER, POTATOES SO MOIST, BLUEBERRY CAKE WAS PROBABLY AWESOME. Wish I had that whole tray.. Oh what a beautiful setting! Maine is the most stunning state in the US. YOU ALL JUST LOVED IT.
living in new england.... lobster is lobster..... literally only outsiders think theres a taste difference between frozen and fresh lobster, they are cockroaches of the sea, theres an abundance of them. and honestly 1 lobster roll a year is enough to fill my craving. usually, I'd rather have a hot dog and not break the bank on a mediocre food thats put on a pedestal.
@@benm4985 well sorry Ben, my opinion is different from yours. I live in New England too and I go to maine 3-4x a year and I’m a seafood lover.. There’s a difference between frozen and fresh, how it’s cooked, boiled or steamed with seaweed and if it’s freshly caught or living in the tank for months.
I watched every episode of Mark's New England seafood tour and then watched Marks trip to sample seafood in Denmark and I was struck by the contrasts. In Denmark they go to great pains to serve the food in an elegant manner but honestly, at least to me the food in Denmark just doesn't look as good. The colors of the seafood in New England are more vibrant, the freshness is incomparable, as well as the quantities and that is borne out in that Mark and Jeffrey appeared far more enthusiastic about the experience in Maine.
Mark...you should show your son more often. Everyone loves watching how your kid reacts to things and to see his own opinions about things he comes across.
It’s after midnight and I’m in lockdown and damn Wiens is eating lobster. And clams and sweet corn….on a beautiful island off the coast of Maine. Bugger!!!
I just watched the Philadelphia cheesesteak tour. I then spotted this. Think how good a price this is. It includes a boat ride out of one of the best places in Maine. It includes walking around on Cabbage Island. Oh lobster, clams.... wonderful

Main and NewEngland in itself is one of the most beautiful places I've ever been too!
Maine
Sometimes auto correct is wrong! Lol. Maine... I've been there a few times and loved it.
This is my home! 🥰 Maine is such a special place. ♥️
Being from New England I used to camp at Sebago Lake in Maine. Maine is amazing. Can I also say how proud I am of my fellow New Englanders working this clam bake. How hard they work to serve others is very commendable.
I’m from Maine and never new this island existed.
@@neko_ch. Nor should you necessarily. I live in Mass, which is much smaller than Maine, and I couldn't tell you what's in 99% of my state.
The scenery, the lobster, the corn and the cool people.. 😍👍
I just got so hungry 🤤 one day I wanna travel like this ‼️
Yeah girl hit New Zealand too .. natural cooking hangi
Me too! Vallita
Everything I watch his videos I just want to climb in
This man is just so happy eating and Im happy watching him ☺️
If I bump into Mark here in the states, I’ll be in shock and PASS OUT!🤪💕🍝🍜🍷🥤
I did this 5 years ago.. it was amazing. Going back in September. It’s the best lobster you’ll ever have.
living in new england.... lobster is lobster..... literally only outsiders think theres a taste difference between frozen and fresh lobster, they are cockroaches of the sea, theres an abundance of them. and honestly 1 lobster roll a year is enough to fill my craving. usually, I'd rather have a hot dog and not break the bank on a mediocre food thats put on a pedestal.
75 for a ferry ride AND a clam bake? That's actually not bad! :D My husband and I are considering doing this now. Thanks!
Trust me you'll love it
Don't forget to leave a hefty tip. That was a feast we will never forget.
It’s $83.50 this year. But even still, not bad considering what you’re getting!
Not bad!? It’s a steal! The lobsters themselves are easily worth the price of $75 for the plate of 2. What a bargain!
Mark...you should show your son more often. Everyone loves watching how your kid reacts to things and to see his own opinions about things he comes across.
Going to this place just became a part of my bucket list.
It's great here
AMEN Jesse.... Me TOO.... as Cabbage Island could very well be The *1st* Flight that I take after this "Covid Thing"....!!! 🤪
Dude what the hell. 200 lobsters and 70lb of butter. They eat lobster with their butter bro.
Was about to say this
It’s after midnight and I’m in lockdown and damn Wiens is eating lobster.
Oh lobster, clams.... wonderful
Jeffrey reminds me one of my uncles, we call him the Cannibal.
Very good!!!! When I see Jeffrey, I feel comfortable! Ha! The Comfortable Cannibal !!
Captain Comfortable Cannibal to you! 🤣
Jeffrey has presence on the screen.
😂😂😂
@@RH-cl1wn Thank you!🧨
