    Beautiful SUV from front to back with a stunning interior - combined with Acura’s reputation for reliability means their unit sales will continue increasing. Nicely done review, guys - have owned several Acuras in the past & was never disappointed! Cheers!

    Awesome review on a truly exciting vehicle. If I may add - it’s understandable that you didn’t mention it because your review was during the daytime, but a very cool feature in the 2022 MDX is interior Accent (ambient) Theme Lighting throughout. You can choose from 27 different themes in the Advance and it looks amazing when you’re driving around at night. Love it in mine (Fathom Blue Pearl/Graystone). 👍

  • @MercOne

    It looks much more upscale than before, like a true luxury product. The interior is an bigger leap for Acura. Now come spring/summer, when the Type S versions of this MDX and the TLX arrive, the real excitement will begin.

    I think this new MDX is awesome. I will shop it soon when I am looking for a family vehicle. I do think one huge miss on the 7K advance package is massage seats. They should be in that package. All of the German rivals have them as an option and they make difference on long road trips. Other than that, not much to criticize. The touchpad may have a learning curve. Saw one on the road and looks really big compared to the previous generation.

    After test driving the new MDX Advance and Genesis GV80 a couple times, I bought the Genesis 2.5T with the prestige package. I never test drove the Audi Q7. The Audi cost more with equivalent features compared to other vehicles and when I told the salesperson I just test drove the MDX and Q7 she said. "Ahh so you are just kicking tires" and then proceed to walk away.

    • @ahf5471
      @ahf5471 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They aren’t even remotely in the same stratosphere. The GV80 is head and shoulders beyond the MDX. The MDX however is considerably more spacious. That’s about all I can think of since the feature list is rather plebeian for a 2022.

    Howdy, excellent review as always y’all! Acura might not be as revolutionary as Genesis, but they are definitely pumping out some excellent cars! Infinity and Lexus need to play some catch up, and the Germans, Brits, and Sweeds might want to watch there back! I will say even though they didn’t do much with the power train, it didn’t really need it. In fact, my only power train complaint was the horrible ZF 9 Speed, which they got rid of! I do wish they’d made the 3rd row a bit better, but you can’t ask for everything, especially considering the competitive pricing!😸😸

      On a quality perspective, my dads fully loaded 2017 RX350 (he has the rare model with the high-end leather and wood steering wheel only available in 2017), is of much higher pedigree than the new MDX. Everything from the paint to the interior details to the fit and finish is much better. Even the camera on the 360 has more options (panning) than on the 2022 MDX.

    Although never an Acura owner, I always have a good impression on Acura, especially on its reliability, practicality and design (of some generations). I can see Acura's effort again on this new gen MDX. But my opinion that in order for Acura to improve its luxury game, there are a few more things it should do: larger and wider wheels (see X5 for example). Body-colored wheel fenders, not black plastics. This will lower the center of gravity to people's eyes, giving it a more sporty look. Leather/leatherette wrapped dashboard and door panels, or at least use some fake stitching. Those rough-grained plastic on the door panels are unacceptable nowadays. Of course, lots of these I mentioned are considered as impractical, unnecessary or even ugly. But other companies are doing these with success. If you cant lead fashion, then follow it.

    • @AlaskanSnowLeopard
      @AlaskanSnowLeopard 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm pretty sure it's not hard for them to do that. I believe the reason why they didn't do it is because they know that most people probably will not be using the 3rd roll anyways. But if they listen to the consumers, I think there is a very good chance that they will include that in the refresh model.

    • @ahf5471
      @ahf5471 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@AlaskanSnowLeopard they didn’t do it because they tried to cut costs. If you actually go to the dealership and look at the new MDX it’s quite disappointing especially compared to lesser priced vehicles like the Palisade and the Telluride. Consider that they are selling above sticker price and the lease prices are obscene. For less money you can get a decently equipped X5, a new LR Discovery, a base model GLE 4Matic, Lincoln Aviator Premium, not to mention the new pathfinder offers a lot more capabilities for a lot less not too mention the new Jeep Grand Cherokee L. I don’t see the advantage in the MDX.

    • @AlaskanSnowLeopard
      @AlaskanSnowLeopard 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ahf5471 you are correct. Cut costs is the true reason why, and what I stated before was just a good excuse for them not to do it. But like I said if they listen to their consumer there is a very good chance that they will include that feature on the refresh model.

    A little Mazda here, a little Volvo there, however I think Acura did exactly what they needed to do to keep their bread and butter vehicle current. While I do wish they would have abandoned the 20+ year old J-Series V6(and I deplore 2.0Ts, but Honda makes one of the best) in favor for a slightly detuned 3.0T coming up in the Type-S, there is enough here to be excited about. I do wish that Acura would not force A-Spec buyers to choose between it or the Advance to get some of the interior features of the Advance. Overall, this thing will sell like mad.
    @Car Confecions: What is that I hear? Is that a MDX vs GV80 comparison on the horizon? Too bad it is going to be tough to find a 3rd row GV80 because it is so limited in its offering.

      since they designed the screen far back , for safety reason they have to use a mouse pad .It’s dangerous for the driver to reach out far to use the screen 😁

    I think its nice......should have released the type S at the same time so that the choice was immediate. Also when anyone does a 1st year redesign i think there should be a discount or added warranty because your basically the "real world" tester for their product. And most 1st year products are not recommended due to issues being worked out. I am on my 4th Acura so i am very familiar with the product. Such a price difference with this right now compared to outgoing 2020 MDX they are practically giving away.

    My uncle almost bought one of these, but declined because the touchpad like interface replaced the touchscreen, and the dual screen in the previous generation was removed. He went with a passport elite, saved $18k, and got a vehicle with enough tech to make an Acura blush, but isn't overloaded with unnecessary touch crap.
    Beautiful car, shame about the insistence on a touchpad.

    I like the Acura MDX but the length is too long for my garage. Maybe Acura should consider adding an MDX model with a short length and get rid of the 3rd row seat for customers who do not need it. This will significantly reduce the weight of the vehicle and improve its gas mileage. I prefer 6 cylinders and I do not like Turbo. So, RDX is out of the question.

    Great review as usual gentlemen! Disappointed to see it lacks many of the features available on the Hyundai Palisade such as a touchscreen, 2nd row ventilated seats, 3rd row power recline and air vents, and power folding 2nd and 3rd row seats. I'm trying to find an SUV that is better built yet has all the features of the Hyundai Palisade I mentioned but that seems impossible at the moment. Any suggestions are appreciated. #Subscribed

      @@Grype I tested a Toyota Highlander and was really disappointed in the ride quality, ergonomics, and cheap feeling interior. I skipped over the Hyundai Palisade due to a class action lawsuit over it's windshield cracking, and customer complaints about bad smelling seats, touchscreens dying, and incredibly poor Hyundai customer service who didn't want to help the buyers and blamed them for their vehicle problems.
      I then test drove a 2018 Mercedes Benz GLS550 and was blown away by the active safety features, the luxurious air ride suspension, powerful engine and torque, the impeccable fit, finish, and ergonomics, the beautiful napa leather, and the driving dynamics of a regular sedan. I bought an extended warranty for piece of mind but current GLS owners are saying for the most part you won't need it because build quality and reliability is outstanding. I would heartily recommend any GLS model if you want the best safety features along with great luxury as well.
