The new MDX gives us hope that Acura seems to have found their mojo again. We look forward to trying out the Type S models later this year! 28:28 DISAGREE on the plug-in hybrid for "slightly better fuel economy". In the first few years you'll be saving a little on fuel but after 5 years and 100,000 miles? The expense of replacing/repairing that battery system more than eats up the slightly better fuel economy savings. So you say, why don't we lease it or sell it before disaster strikes? Well, considering you're paying a premium up front for the plug-in hybrid upgrade, it would take you 5 years or more to recoup the cost of the upgrade. Ultimately, the ONLY reason to get the plug-in is for (1) noticeably better performance (2) the convenience of not filling up and (2) noticeably better options not available on the regular car. Until hybrid battery/system repair and replacement costs come down, this is a nightmare in the secondary market. Stick to the V6 for now.
What about getting the Toyota hybrid system? That’s a lot cheaper to attain than the plugin hybrids. They’ve lowered the price difference from gas to hybrid by a lot

The RX-L is completely useless and they tried to squeeze a row in just to compete with the MDX. Just get the two row RX. However now Lexus in general is becoming really dated compared to Acura.
I thought Lexus was dead because all the competition has made Lexus irrelevant. Lexus is just there as a placeholder for the sake of high sales and reliability.
Acura did a great job with this MDX. Although, we all know they held back features, and other options, for the Type-S. It makes sense though, and that’s what I’m waiting to see 👍
Really frustrating Acura still wont allow customers to combine the A-Spec and the Advance package still. Still, a huge improvement over the model it replaces. I like it.
Acura really is stepping up! FINALLY a panoramic roof!! It only took 20 decades LOL! They should’ve put one on the TLX! One thing Honda needs to do, is definitely give better rim options, because they always look so basic, and not aggressive! But the ones on the MDX are amazing! Great job Honda/Acura
I can’t wait to get the MDX. Should be here in 3 weeks but when I test drove the touch pad, I honestly hated it but I gave it a chance and learned how to use it. It’s actually not bad. I do wish there was a touch screen for typing but navigating the system and menus, it was pretty easy.
The way these newer vehicle start up so slowly with the electronics coming to life and the steering wheel moving into position... Does anyone know if that's annoying for things like just pulling the car out of the garage?
@@dravidianking1298 yes because they are upmarket Honda’s. Same story with Lexus and Infiniti. In their home market the Japanese don’t care as much about a prestigious brand.
You should interview someone at Acura and ask them why they force someone to choose between a spec and advanced. Literally the one thing that keeps me from considering the brand. I'm like you I want the sporty looks with the features. Maybe the type S will give both.
Completely agree. Why not include heated steering wheel and 360 camera on the A-Spec? Or all an all in one package for a premium price. It’s ridiculous. Watch them release some BS PMC edition too which will include both, in the coming years. At least give us the option of adding certain things to the A-Spec.

I’m so glad they didn’t put that 4cyl engine in the new MDX. The new RDXs feel cheaper, less refined, and louder because the 4 cyl is just so much less refined. Initially I thought I’d like it because, on paper, it should be stronger. However, I agree with the professional critics that, in reality, it feels like a step backwards. Buyers who are used to higher-end vehicles will certainly expect the nicer V6, or a V6 with a Turbo option, which is coming.

Also EV tax credit for PHEVs narrows that price difference between gas or gas and electric motor quite a bit
Really excellent update from Acura. I only wish they kept the n/a V6 for the TLX as well.
Drove all the luxury SUV'S the 2022 MDX, Checks all the boxes. Paid cas 14 miles on odomitor, same great red, light interior, lot more room than the others, very silent inside, love tech, everything! Honda/Acura makes great engines. Great service too! Total makeover, great job.
I would take this over the three row RX. (Lexus Owner)
If you're going to spend that kind of money on the RX-L, you better off just getting a Highlander or the Acura MDX. Otherwise just get the 2 rows RX.
Lexus has kinda stalked in design and tech of recent in my opinion. I stand to be corrected
The RX-L is completely useless and they tried to squeeze a row in just to compete with the MDX. Just get the two row RX. However now Lexus in general is becoming really dated compared to Acura.
RX-L is useless in the 3rd row seat. Lexus hasn't changed much.
I thought Lexus was dead because all the competition has made Lexus irrelevant.
Lexus is just there as a placeholder for the sake of high sales and reliability.
Finally a worthy upgrade design and technology. Currently still rocking the 1st gen 2002 MDX.
I like it.
Agree. Love the A-spec rims but it lacks 360 cam among other features!
A Highlander has had the pano roof since 2014 redesign...

That’s what I like about Acura..you get more bang for the buck!
The way these newer vehicle start up so slowly with the electronics coming to life and the steering wheel moving into position... Does anyone know if that's annoying for things like just pulling the car out of the garage?

I love that they're using a naturally aspirated V6 here. The Advanced MDX is a keeper for me - looking forward to upgrading in the near future.
We have asked Acura that and they go by what customers want. They claim that if dealers and consumers continue to ask for it, they will look into offering it. We believe they are limiting it now in order to simplify production costs.
I just bought a 2022 MDX A Spec and had the heated steering wheel added. I’m sure I’ll be back for that S model when it finally becomes available.
@@DJDynamik i hate to agree but, i do. I am months away from buying an A-spec and i cannot believe that it will not come with the full backup camera and heated steering wheel... .like... base model pickup trucks have them and cars much cheaper. Ridiculous.

At $58k you’re not even at the base price of an X5, and barely above that of a GLE or Q7. Good luck finding anything else this nicely equipped for the price, not to mention all those have 4-cylinder engines. The MDX continues to be a screaming deal.

I just picked up my 2022 ASpec in Blue with Red interior. OMG. I absolutely love it. I traded my 3 month old Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited X for it. The previous gen had a sport hybrid with 327hp that was even quicker than the base engine.

100% correct, as he ask for the plug-in hybrid with the competition moving forward and full EV leaving many who travel long trips, etc. do not want driver anxiety. Hello, thanks a lot for the all awesome review. I have an question. What do you think about the 2022 Acura MDX technology package AWD or FW?.
Get the AWD. It handles like it is riding on rails.
I hope they port the 12" display and full digital instrument cluster to the RDX. This interior is a class above the previous generation!
The magsafe case also does not work in my 2020 Explorer ST for wireless charging. It will connect for 0-5 minutes, but then say the phone is misaligned. Not sure what's going on.
Like it, but dumb that the wheel is only heated on advanced spec.
