    What do you think of the 2022 MDX? Is it everything you wanted and expected? I think they did a great job, although there are still some features missing that make me scratch my head, like the simple touch of power folding seats in the top Advance model. Aside from minor things, it's a great SUV overall.
    Here's the MDX night review: th-cam.com/video/L37MKuMclhQ/w-d-xo.html

      Totally agree but I'd read somewhere that power folding seats would've reduced the extra trunk drawer thing bc the mechanisms take up more space. Maybe that had something to do with it?

      I like it a lot but also scratch my head at a few decisions they made. Here are just a few that come to mind….First, the fact they didn’t offer a full touchscreen interface is a big miss for Acura. Second is how each trim is optioned. I think some of the options, like heated rear seats, heated wheel , remote start, and most importantly, 360 degree camera shouldn’t be limited to just the top of the line model. Should be at least optional on lower trims. Third, i feel they should have a model which includes the A Spec appearance package along with the Advance package.

    Ok having owned2 BMW X5’s before purchasing this MDX advanced I can honestly say I prefer the Acura!! The touchscreen was not a deal breaker for me since I used the dial anyway. Nice review watched both the day and night review👍🏻. Btw was worried about the touch pad but got used to it within days😉

      @@kevinsonnenberg2868 if it is like the RDX then some journalist still have problems with it.
      But Acura’s new True Touchpad interface, which serves as the primary control for the infotainment console, drew some fire. “After meandering into a desolate area out of range of any cell service, I tried searching for a ramen place nearby,” daily news editor Conner Golden said. “Five minutes later, I couldn’t make sense of the trackpad-based system, which was overly sensitive and then immediately unresponsive. I gave up and drove toward town until I regained service.” Automobilemag

    PA, I think you are incorrect on the ventilated Front seats : The Advance package DOES include ventilated (cooled) seats . In fact they work in Auto mode , so when the Temp is high , they cool, when the temp is Low , they heat and they work in unison with the Remote Start feature. So does the rear windshield defroster.

  • @bobdailey9735
    @bobdailey9735 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You missed a few features. The 2nd row middle seat/console is removable just by pulling two straps. It only weighs about 20 lbs and it fits in the rear storage compartment when you move the compartment lid to the bottom of the compartment. Also the lid is reversible, carpeted on one side and a no slip textured spill/stain resistant plastic on the other side. Also has a rear view camera washer.

      Skeelo, Agreed. I have a 2019 MDX Advance, which is a very good vehicle, however, even w/o the Type S Turbo, Acura is abit remiss for not Tweaking the HP / Torque on this engine . That would have made this vehicle a real WINNER.

  • @jonmcclure10
    @jonmcclure10 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I have the Pearl Red too. Like the color. I delivered my last book to hundreds of locations around Alabama mountains, deep valleys and even the beaches in my Buick Enclave for five years. Buick was listed number four as the best from owners, "Consumers Reports", behind Mazda, Lexus and Toyota. I loved my big Enclave, but drove everything in luxury class and even others, but the reviewers and my perception was that Honda/Acura builds great engines, etc. and owners love their Acura's and Honda's too. The comment about the automatics seat fold down, is stupid, as manual is twice as fast and the Acura design is just fine. Yes, Buick has a strong reputation for being super quiet and also a softer ride. I would say, after driving all, the BMW X5 drove the closest to the 2022 MDX I bought, but if you want a sportier ride go BMW or MDX, but softer, go Lincoln, owned many Lincolns NO issues, especially my six Towncars, just change the oil and tires and drive forever. Scotty for sure prefers Lexus, Toyota, Honda/Acura's over most all the vehicles coming from Germany, even the BMW's, especially after the warranty runs out, Scotty says, "watch out, it is going to cost you big time." Scotty tells it like it is! I would like in say three to five years buy either an PHEV similar to the concept via the RAV 4 Prime, perhaps in a RX with bigger design, as MDX is bigger in many ways, and is a total redesign inside and out. I do not see Lexus sleeping on their remake. Sure EV's are coming, but unless you live in California, do not try to take a 750 to 1,500 miles trip through ten states without driver anxiety and maybe sitting on the side of the road out of power. With at least a PHEV, most Americans could drive say 80% of the time on pure EV and just charge up in their garage and even long trips will work, as you have in your gas tank another 400 to 500 miles and we know gas stations are on every block and do not worry about sitting on the side of the road or staying at a motel every 300 miles looking for an open charging level 2 charger. Long story short, so far I love the total redesign of my paid for 2022 MDX, but will look again when the warranty runs out, as we are living in very interesting changing times! Sure hope America gets control of the issues of building at least 200,000 level 2 charging stations, as pure EV's are not ready for prime time. However, we spend a lot of time traveling the world and most all of the E.U. countries have a unified charging EV network. Congress needs to wake up and look at the real problem, not being able to charge your EV in most locations, make the charging cables and stations uniform, so all EV's can just charge. I have two friends with EV's sitting on the side of the road, as I type, so do not say EV's are up and running with no problems, ask the 40% of California EV owners who traded them in for gas last year and that is the one state trying to go total EV. Go figure! My Acura runs just fine on regular too, it says fine to use all three grades on the inside of the gas cap, funny no car reviewer looks inside the gas cap. Great car so far!

    Review was spot-on. The seat cushions are fantastic, even compared to Audi. The engine and road noise are high for a luxury vehicle (but better than Volvo). I really appreciate the noise Db numbers in your review. Do you think the steering wheel and dash controls are too busy? It seemed to be a little overwhelming on my test drive. PA, good job on reviewing this MDX. I am on my 2nd ACURA and they have been really great cars. My take on this review is that there are missing links about this MDX that should have been included and they are the ones you've mentioned---like the 3rd row climate vents. This is a must have if you are going to make 3 row seats. I'm just surprised that they included the USB charging ports for the 3rd row but glad they did. I think that the TOYOTA HIGHLANDER LIMITED would be a better choice in my opinion due to the fact that it is a less expensive vehicle but it gives you nearly as much what's in the MDX.

    Nice review, but I wouldn't base my decision around whether the rear 3rd row seats can be Power manipulated... Who really cares about that. Actually, all reviews of this and comparable 3 Row SUVs, pay too Much Attention to that 3rd Row _access and egress, the room back there, etc. I would Love to see a Survey of 3 Row SUV owners, as to How Many Times do they really use that???
    Your review is a little lacking in that you don't emphasize the Great SH-AWD Acura system. It Blows many others Out Of THe Water. Unless you go for an Audi, Land Rover for THousands More $$$$. Personally, I'm wrestling with the potential replacement for my 2019 MDX Advance, leased until June 2022. I'm 69 YO, don't really need a 3rd Row SUV, but I really like this Acura except for that Freakin Touch Pad. I ended up leasing the MDX in 2019 , after test driving the RDX (a really Nice vehicle) which contained the new Acura Touch Pad. It turned me off in my 20 minute test drive. I would need to have one as loaner fpor a day or two to actually "test" the usage in the real world. The Competitor for my potential business is the Kia Sorento or the Hyundai Santa Fe - it os a trade down in size but they have very good Hybrid models too.

      As an Update to my posts on the 22 MDX ADvance... I leased mine in August 2021. With 11K miles on the clock , 19 months of ownership : Great handling, and ride, good steering feel, solid on the road, excellent comfort & I really like the Muscular Re-design. The Cons: a bit mushy brake pedal ; the TTIP InfoT. system needs a learning curve and having both a Touch Pad and Touch screen would be better; the MDX (any model) does NOT have the Active Adjustable Dampening suspension [all models, except the base model, of the RDX does have it]. The 23 Type S does have it (including the air suspension as a 1st for Acvura). Other reviewers on line pointed that out. And they indicate that it works very well in the RDX !! That should have been included in the 22 MDX Advance.

    Old tech. The V6 is so inefficient compared to the competition. I have a '21 X5 x40i and consistently see 28mpg. My friend has this MDX and he says he only gets 20 if he's lucky on highway driving in AWD form.

    Not sure why Honda can't seem to perfect their transmission. Watching this I can tell the not-so-smooth shifting of gears which is non-existing in an RX 350. I've had Accord and Odyssey before and traded them all for a Lexus due to transmission. Downshifts and acceleration jerk the car and are not refined. Although softer, I still notice it on this MDX.

    really? all occupied seat? Acura MDX YET to have the AC vent in the third row. My kids are always feeling uncomfortable to sit in the back - NO AIR , NO AIR ...
    Great that it has great speaker for great sound in the third row. BUT we need to breath little better in third row!! Come on Acura MDX design team ,please put AC vent in the third row!

    • @ChodTheWacko

      There are vents, but they are under the second row seats. Easy to miss. Admittedly, it would be better if they were higher somewhere.

      @@ChodTheWacko so, what model does it have vent under the second row seat? I have 2014 MDX and kids are not comfortable in the third row "hard to breath"! If it does have it,,,I still prefer higher position given Highlander, Telluride and so many other 3-row SUV they have vents over the head ....Acure MDX engineers should have caught that!!
      That's why it kept holding me back to upgrade my 7 years old Acura DMX!!

      @@jpthsd I believe the 3rd row vents are in all of the trims. I sat in a tech MDX's 3rd row and kept kicking them so I know they are there. (I looked to see what it was). The tech package doesn't say, "added 3rd row vents" so I assume they are in the base model. The only mention I've actually seen of the third row vents are in the 2022 floor mat installation instructions i.e. www.urvi.net/forumfiles/SB/BII16037-16.PDF on the last image, they show you where the air ducts are (so you put the mat under them). They are not mentioned in the manual at all. It's weird.

      @@ChodTheWacko great to know,,,maybe they added for MDX 2022 but not other model? I will check my MDX 2014 this afternoon see if it is there (my best guess it is not since kids are kicking in the back "hard to breath, uncomfortable, sweating..etc"

    • @ChodTheWacko
      @ChodTheWacko 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jpthsd It's possible. This is my first time seeing an MDX so I don't know. Also since it's a floor vent, and cold air falls, it's not great for AC (better for heat) I was thinking about what you said, and think that I might get a USB powered fan to put by the vent to blow the air up.

    The third row space is horrid especially for a 2022 model year SUV. Not even a air conditioning vent in the third row? Who does Acura think occupy their third row, for cash dummies?
    It’s the same design flaw in the new TLX. It’s a massive vehicle for it’s segment yet has the worst rear set room in it’s class. Acura definitely isn’t the best at tech, performance, or practicality. Their products are pretty overrated and overhyped. I glad to see the materials have finally been upgraded to that worthy of a luxury brand’s badge but I’m not sure it and their new gauge cluster are enough.

    Acura has managed to become a HORRIBLE manufacturer! I am on my sixth new Acura (22 MDX), and my last! My car has been in the body shop for the last three months waiting parts after I hit a deer. The delay is ALL on Acura and they have offered NOTHING for the severe inconvenience.. I haven’t had a car at all for 2 months (Insur only covered 30 days), reported the issue to Acura corporate and haven’t even gotten so much as a “sorry for the delay” from them. They are simply pretending that me and my issue don’t exist. GREAT after purchase customer service. I am done with Acura! I will definitely be in a Lexus once this lease is up.
