  • In this video I am painting some terracotta pots! I have done some of these before and they turn out really nicely! Links below for some other videos. I am using a variety of colors, and a different color palette for each pot. I keep my paint thicker so that it will stay on the pot. The turquoise didn't turn out really well but the other two look fantastic! Once dry and cured for a bit, I will finish these with varnish.
    My second book on paint pouring is going to be published on March 3, 2020 and is currently available for pre-order: "The Art of Paint Pouring: Swipe, Swirl and Spin." By Amanda VanEver

    My boy friends mom just gave me terracotta pot to paint pour over, I was thinking I had to prime it first~ maybe not~
    looks cool :) can't wait to do mine.

      I don't think you need to prime it first (I never have). But once it is dry you will want to finish the inside and outside with waterproof varnish to protect it from water.

    Very pretty. How do these hold up after the pot is wet on the inside from watering? Since the clay is porous?

      Thank you! I finished the inside along with the outside with waterproof varnish so that the water won't ruin the paint since the clay is porous.

    Looking great 👍 are you using a medium such as Floetrol as well?

    • @amandasdesignsofficial
      @amandasdesignsofficial  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes I mainly use Floetrol and water to thin down the paint for pouring.

    Why wouldn’t you put the tape inside to cover the hole and then the bottom outside would be painted?

      When I've painted the bottoms of these before, they were sticking to the surfaces where I paced them, so I stopped painting them,

    What do you do with all of your extra paint? These are beautiful!

      Thank you, I let it dry on the freezer paper and use it for other projects.

    Beautiful work, but too much wasted paint, at the base. I think, if pot were wet-coated with any color, before pour, paint would slide quicker, finish sooner and save 50 of the waste. Another option: Place a canvas beneath and paint a second object.

    Amanda love your work. What is your ratio for mixing your paint? Mine runs off the side and I lose my design.

      For things like this I keep it a lot thicker. Glue and paint work well to keep it nice and thick.

    Do you color the insides of the pots?
