As a fellow staff of a nation rp server, I must say I'm impressed. Running such a thing during multiples eras is nos small feat, and usually, a typical rp will just contain one big war, one big rivalry and that's all. Here it was just one war among others, in a much bigger picture. So congrats.
It was really more than a game. People lost themselves while playing it over the two years it ran and it wasn't rare for some of the best and most active players to have near psychotic breaks and need to take long vacations from the game
@CalmDownLevelUp As another staff for another rp server, how do you help deal with toxic players and the mental health of others as this has been extremely stressful for many people involved and we just want to help people get better and actually have fun
I love this stuff bro, currently creating and trying to create mathematical models for stuff like this. It’s a mega project but videos like these are a great motivator
Let’s put it that way: the shrooms had 3 empires and in each the shrooms ended up almost conquering everything just to lose through betrayal or bad rolls
Love this series, but I'm really unclear on how this worked in terms of the player experience / systems. How many players to a state? Is this text-based? Using another game as a base? e.g. how does the AOI find gold, deliver arms, etc?
I was wondering the same thing, I’m a big fan of the civilization games so this is intriguing, feels like a massive 2 year long game of civ, very curious to know how the economy functioned in this simulation
Really cool project! I wonder what the rules in it were cause I remember you talking about warsupport and stability, any way you could disclose us this enigmatic info?
if you join the hub in the description, you will be able to join the full server, in there you can create a character, and soon be able to create a nation (not just yet). once you have that role you will have full access to the entire RP, before making the character or nation, you can look at the sheet or guides, which can give you insight on these mechanics.
Amazing video been waiting for it, I might be stupid but I got lost with names of people, i understand it might be too expensive and time consuming but pictures or like an identification card could show up as you are talking about someone would really help in my opinion
Can't wait for the marathon vid to recap when its all posted. I don't usually comment but I wasnt expecting this RP to be so captivating to watch. Well done and thank you to all the players from Kingston, Jamaica 🇯🇲❤
Thanks, you inspired me to start my own NRP. I ran one in the past but i decided I would do a more compplicated one (also a sort of through the ages kind of RP). Drew a fantasy map, got some players and its going well. Once again, thank you
Is there a game being used like ck2 or Hearst of iron? How are characters made and played? New to this so don't actually know logistics behind this but it's cool and would like to know Wats going on gameplay and player wise
As someone who do this on a much smaller scale. It's generally just written roleplay in different channels, where people interact, or do their things in their country (ie : there is channels for diplomacy, and then, everyone has a channel for it's actions in his country, his secrets actions, etc [without taking into account people that plays individuals like adventurers, merchants, and such that are something that I never encountered in these rp]) It does get kinda time consuming and can necessitate pauses (in the most intense game I had, we were 5 in the Italian peninsula, diplomacy was so much demanding, because always shifting that we had to always be present : as a staff I ended up just having a breakdown, so be carefull). It also recquires hours of preparations to make a correct economic system and shit (the joy of making stats !), and to actualize the data of each players. These rp can be good time tho, and permit encounters with people onlines. But they also requires a fucking huge organization.
Haven't watched the video yet cause I don't have time now, but I came here for the discord link because I know you make it expire after a few hours. But there is no link? Did it expire already or you talk about it in the video? I really wanted to get in! Will watch the video tomorrow.
Considering the attention your game is getting, you might be able to commercialize this as a board game. Use the viewership to start a crowdfund and recruit board game creators. Considering your reliance on spreadsheets, maybe having an accompanying app could be interesting. Again, recruiting devs from your TH-cam viewers.
Has someone that joined and play the shrooms during the Middle Ages I am proud of what shrooms achieved (and if you think that insane wait for when the confederacy becomes a thing)
@@CalmDownLevelUp Most real human element but also the most unhuman. The people playing can often be really ignorant of how to run a nation because "hey in really strong" so they forget to do anything at all. They instantly "win" but then some part of them just give up. Complete emotionless gameplay can often occur within the players. After dopamine comes the unfeeling.
