- VTOL project tertunda karena masih menunggu propeller dan motor yang powernya lebih gede.sembari menunggu part datang kita nyicil membuat sayap dengan foam yang di layer karbon,hasilnya oke banget bro.....kaku,keras dan kuat dan yang pasti ringan lebih ringan dari epo.sangat cocok buat UAV atau yang hoby fpv longe range......selamat terbang!

No mask and no gloves? You should consider using gloves as uncured epoxy has been linked to fertility problems. You also need a barrier mask or respirator as the epoxy dust and especially the inhaled airborne carbon fibers from sanding are damaging to your lungs. Carbon fiber dust is nearly impossible to exhale or cough out of your lungs. If inhaled it will become imbedded and form scar tissue causing reduced lung function over time. A thicker Mylar sheet of plastic will help to smooth out the wrinkles in the finished surface of the wing. The simple use of the PVC pipe as a roller is very clever, I learned something new and I’ve been doing this for 35 years. Nice clear video showing the basics of the process. Thank You

Great work. Here's a tip to improve the process; Once you have applied the cloth and resin, wrap in peel ply and then insert it in a storage vacuum bag and pull the vacuum. This will apply maximum pressure and also draw out excess resin into the peel ply. Leave until resin has set.

@@PILOTGABUS you wrap the peel ply along the edge where the plastic wrapping meets. This absorbs the resin pulled from the cloth.

I was blown away by the simplicity of the cutting templates concept in the first place. I've been cutting foam for a long time and something so simple had never occurred to me. I always use templates for extrados and intrados, but your system is a thousand times better!
I sense that you do not use mylar between the core and the beds but rather a soft nylon, one of those used for tablecloths, is that correct? I have been told that with this accessory you do not need mold release or waxes, as I see in your video. Your work is excellent. Thank you for the ideas and solutions you provide.

To press the whole , don't use batterys, easyer is a freezer vacuum pump, put the wing in a plastic bag and make vacuum , you press the whole sureface with 700 or 800 gr /cm²

at 6:00 would you be able to just use the negative of the wing (the one you are supporting the fiber on ) to build the wing cover and just use the spars and ditch the core? is the foam negative rigid enough for a reasonable wing shape or the surface is either too rough or too flexible ?
I believe you can but you won't get a perfect leading edge

Moldless composite construction. Full-Size experimental homebuilt aircraft used this method. See Rutan Aircrafts VariEZ, LongEZ, Solitaire.
Edit* Not quite. It's a similar method, but not the same, Rutan designs didn't use the outside of foam to mold it.
What weight cloth did you use?
You have done a good job, have you tried to use a vac. pump? How do you gauge the amount of epoxy going on the surface? Do you just put it on and squeeze it out? Never the less keep out the good work.
I have often used a vacum pump. not everyone has a vacum pump, this video is just a little trick for those who don't have a vacum pump. Thank you friend🙏🙏

I call it astralone plastic. using 0.20mm mylar is the right choice.🙏

Why the joint at the Leading Edge...?...Why not wrap it around using one peice of cloth...?.....The wire temperature is too low as well, this is why the foam cores weren't smooth....😳🇬🇧

epoxy resin and hardener, it won't burn foam. I only use 2 components, epoxy resin and hardener.🙏
Depends on the type of foam AND it also depends if it's epoxy or polyester resin

Mantap tutorialnya om! Saya ada beberapa pertanyaan. Di video kan om pakai kain karbon nya 2 lembar atas bawah terpisah. Kalau saya pakainya 1 lembar aja memanjang jadi di bagian leading edge sayap ngga kepotong bisa ga yah? Lalu kalau mau pakai kain fiberglass dibanding karbon bisa? Trus untuk lubang spar, bolongin foam nya gimana yah? Terimakasih!

Too much resin, you need to minimize weight. And ease get proper weights. Looks great but not practical
how did you drill through the styrofoam to put a rod in it? My advisors have been telling me it will be difficult to make a hole through styrofoam
You can use hotwire if you have one. Make a template on both ends of the wing, where you have a hole for your spar/rod. The just cut a straight line in the templates either from underside of the wing or top, so you can get the wire through that line and also get it out. Then just fill up the straight line on the wing itself and you're done.

Kalo pake system layer mungkin bisa di coba begini om,body di olesin resin dulu sampai rata dan biarkan sampai setengah kering agak agak kental giti baru di layer karbon dan di tekan tekan dikit setelah itu baru di kasih resin lagi bagian paling luarnya🙏
