If you only go to Disneyland once a year, you NEED the lightening lane. If you don’t get it, you will blow 1/2 your day just waiting for Rise of the Resistance, Indiana Jones, Space Mountain, Matterhorn and Thundermountain. And that’s not even counting the waits that you could encounter for Pirates, Jungle Cruise, Indiana Jones, Star Tours, Smugglers Run, or any of the toontown/fantasyland rides
Agree, it's really not even that expensive when you consider how much you already pay for tickets, food, accommodations, transport, etc, the cost of lightning lane really feels nominal compared to the time you save with it. My last trip was right in the middle of the Christmas season, the park was absolutely hectic but our longest wait the entire trip between rope dropping, chasing the low waits, and using our lightning lane, was 40 minutes and that was with waiting out a breakdown. We got to ride everything we wanted to, most multiple times, barely waited, and had time to just enjoy the park at leisure or take a break in the middle of the day. I feel like our trip with lightning lane I got double the time out of the trip I would've on a trip without it
@@slowazzd2165 Yup. And when you look at neighboring parks like Universal and Knotts, their fast passes are significantly more expensive as well. I still wish it was free because that did allow everyone to be on an even playing field in the parks and it didn’t feel like there was a division of classes, but I’m glad they aren’t charging the price of another ticket just for lightening lane…. and hopefully I didn’t just give them an idea…
@@WaltWalnuts Actually, you can’t lmao after the first hour the lines for Indiana Jones, Space Mountain, Matterhorn, Thundermountain, and Tianas (when it’s back open) will all easily be 45 minutes or more. So no, you can’t do those in the first few hours, unless it’s not crowded day.
I'm only into the intro so far, and I can tell this is EXACTLY the kind of intel I crave and you are so great at delivering. Keep it up with the Park Science!
I appreciate you going through those horrific lines for science. I know that sometimes it does get unbearable. Thanks for making videos like these. I wouldn’t want to wait in those lines. I would go to another ride or just bite the bullet and grab a lightning lane pass.
I really like your wait strategy videos! For those of us coming from far away for a once in a decade visit your videos are extremely helpful for our strategic planning. I always have wondered just how accurate the wait times really are. Keep up with the great videos. Hopefully weather cooperates with us for our trip in Feb.
I have not even started the video yet but i just wanted to say thank you so much for your help on everything to do with Disney. I had an absolute blast on my trip!!!! I rope dropped Space Mountain and was done that line and ride by 8:15. When i was there in Disneyland on Tuesday the ride Smugglers Run was only a 10 minute wait time in the afternoon. The craziest line i got in was for Roger Rabbit and that was at 40 mins. Thanks again, your tricks really really work. I have to admit tho that the Rise of the Resistance ride had be down for maintenance for about 1hr and 35 mins and i waited that long just sitting outside the standby line, but even that wait time felt very short. If it wasnt for the fact that i had someone to talk to it would have been a much longer feeling.
Smugglers runs line is the bane of my existence. The line moves slowly, if there’s a breakdown you’re screwed. The majority of the que cannot see where you are headed. I think this was done intentionally to obstruct guests view. I’ve waited 90 minutes stuck outside the Hondo room before. When you’re that close you don’t want to vacate the line! You want to make the time spent worth at least something. Wasting time at the parks is the worst.
This is an interesting point. I’ve ridden it at Disneyland and Hollywood Studios in Florida. For some reason line for the Florida version moves much quicker.
There are reports posted today that claim that the Disney Company inflates wait times that are posted to encourage the sale of lightning lanes. You can find them at that park place with overview and commentary.
Love this Vlog idea. Making the ultimate sacrifice to willingly Test the Ultimate wait times, testing the accuracy. FreshBaked, the real hero of Disneyland. 😂😁 Thanks Dave and Good Vibes. ✌🏻
No matter how many times I ride, watch or see behind the scenes of Rise of the Resistance it just blows my mind. I just love everything about that attraction.
I'm going on my first DL & DCA trip end of this month. I'm an annual WDW person. Videos like this make me nervous. Hope I can see everything in 2 days at each park.
We appreciate you for taking one for the team!! Watch you always hope to see you in October or December when i go. I was looking forward to the tree hack at the entrance, they moved it 😂
I almost never trust the wait times. I’ve seen Indiana jones posted at 40 minutes and had it be a literal walk on. We did the ride 6 times in a row in about an hour. We told the cast member at the front and he gave me a card to track the wait time and it only decreased the time by 5 mins. Did not stop walking until we got to the ride vehicle.
I've seen times when they treat standby guests on smuggler's run like third class citizens. I've watched where they send standby with one party and fill the rest of the Hondo room with line skipping. It balloons the wait time. Not every attraction is as bad, but in the end way too many skips are given out. It was nice when fastpass was a initiative, managed by operations, to improve the guest experience it. I spent alot of time at the Disneyland Resort for decades. I'm so uninterested in how they treat people now that I'm okay with skipping it when visiting SoCal. I'm glad your channel is here to get the sights of the Park.
Gruesome! The ride is not worth the line wait. Just increase the price by $25 for all tickets and stop the multi pass and lightening lane! Seems like Disney just cant make enough money with merch, food and tickets. Thanks, Dave for all of your hard work making valuable videos for park goers!!
The entire queue for Smugglers Run is protected by the elements unlike a majority of rides at Disney. The newer rides have a bit more awareness of the California heat
Rise of Resistance can get very long. I have seen it reach 2+ hours. When the ride is constantly crashing, I have been waiting over 45 minutes in a small area.
In all honesty you don’t need to get into the lighting lane for Smugglers Run. It’s a relatively short line. Part of that is due to the ride having a large rider capacity. They have 28 millenium falcon cockpits. They fill up quickly, but the ride itself isn’t too long.
I remember going to DL the day after labor day with my MIL. the longest we ever waited was 15 mins. The park was empty, they still had summer hours and we would stay late for MSEP and the fireworks.
Cars ride is the line I dread. It's always long. But it's a must ride. Other than paying for lightning lane, I'm not sure what to do other than wait it out. The line that makes me happy is Pirates. I like that queue and how it continually moves.
When I did single rider last week they asked if I wanted to go solo! I said sure! It was awesome. Even got some special Hondo dialogue about being a solo pilot.
Right now 839pm smugglers run is 15 minutes. Almost every other ride is at least 25. Indiana is 40 Perhaps it is still extra busy in the morning because new people are seeing it for the first time.
The only thing that's worse than standby for Smugglers Run (since LL makes it miserable) is that Hondo is boring and so is collecting Coaxium. They make being on the Millennium Falcon boring (that is hard to do). You don't get to enjoy being on the Falcon.
The problem with Smuggler’s Run is that the actual ride isn’t worth the long wait. Anything over 15-20 isn’t worth your time. Plenty of other better rides that are worth the wait. You spend the whole ride slamming around because flying it is so difficult.
Is the fantasyland side of Matterhorn still slightly slower? I used your tip back in 2016 for a smoother ride but didn’t get the chance this year with LL.
I guess it makes sense when ROTR is down everyone will flock over to Smugglers Run due to it's the nearest ride and a way to hopefully kill time before ROTR is back online.
The falcon, last year, said 20 minute wait. I'm in a scooter now because of a botched foot surgery. That 20 minutes ended up being close to an hour. Now that i'm set low in the scooter, in cramped spaces like this.. I just panicked, started crying. It's an overwhelming uncontrollable feeling. Never experienced anything like it. I won't do this ride anymore, without a lightning lane.
Prior to the pandemic you could have asked for the disability services. But now they are punishing disabled people because non disabled people scammed the system. You still would have waited that hour, or even more, but it would have been outside the line so you don't panic. They have told Veterans with PTSD not to come to the park anymore if they can't handle the lines. It's really bad.
So David how many rides do they have in Star wars land, and why don't they have anything for younger people. I think they could even expand and put a space theme coaster, that way there's more to choose from.
I’ve only done single rider. Is the queue worth it. I’ve also only had people that could reach the controls as pilots once. With the tiny kids as pilots, the ride hurts worse than WDW’s space mountain ride.
My philosophy: if you’re a family with kids 10/11 or older, an adult group, or solo traveler, use single rider every chance you get. Killed me to see Dave having to wait in that line. But it was valuable info for those who use standby for smugglers run.
So if I’m seeing this right the time listed is dependent on how many lightning lane there is. Doesn’t hold well if you want to ride a ride twice in one day
what? Smugglers Run has a very low wait time almost always. It was 10 minutes basically all day last Thursday and Friday. It's a very efficient people mover
Clearly you’re new. Every week when Dave does the tour of DL smugglers run is consistently 40 mins plus. You cannot compare usual data to heatwave data
