Gotta go with the Ruger. I've never like the angle on the Glocks. Not natural pointer (for me) and I personally don't like the finger bumps. That and least of all the styling. The Ruger is good looking (to me) while the Glock looks like some kid built it with Lego blocks.
Dan, the Shield .45 would compare favorably with these. Don’t have the Ruger but do have Glock 36 & Shield .45 & it’s a dead heat between those 2 great guns.
I had a shield 45. Sold it and have a XDs45 and G36. I actually bought them both the same day used. I was looking for a G30sf. Got them for what a new g30 would have cost. I like them better than the shield 45. The shield is a rock solid gun. Personal preference.
Ben I agree. Those are two great guns. Last year I went to my gun shop intending to buy the g36 but walked out with the 45 Shield. Both really nice guns but to me the Shield felt a little better in my hand. I wouldn't mind owning both.
3 of my 4 handguns are from Ruger. This one has one extra round and with the weight advantage it makes the recoil less of a problem. Good job of showing them to us all but methinks I shall wait till someone delivers a trigger pull of 4.9999 lbs as that will make it almost perfect!
I'm going with Ruger, looks badass, the ergos are better and the price is much better. Better bargain for your buck. Factory Glock isn't anything special. And over priced
Glocks should come out of the box with out needing aftermarket parts to make them acceptable, period. O well these truths we find self evident. Hey Dan, I bought the Mossberg maverick 88 yesterday. I had to settle for the black 18 1/2"barrel, but I'm happy to have found one. Take care and have a great day my friend. Tennessee
As much as I love my glocks, I think I'd pick the Ruger on this one. I was looking at them on Buds and I think I'll have to pull the trigger now. Very good comparison video my friend.
Ruger all day long! I love the compact American and I have to say the security9 is a better pistol than I thought it was going to be. 2 nice pistols from who else, Ruger!
I had a RAPc that I thought was an amazing gun, except when it would draw blood from my thumb knuckle when I shot it at the gun range. Swapping the back straps didnt help. Short of changing my natural grip (which I will not do), I had nowhere to turn besides selling it. What a shame. Ruger needs to round out the back corners of this gun.
I have all 3 as well. American, the glock and the m&p. I will say that the ruger by far is the best of the 3. Built better, feels better, trigger is great, and has light recoil
I'd love to own a .45 ACP, the Ruger might be the one to pick up when the stores start being able to really get things in stock again. One reason I prefer the look of the Ruger (and no doubt this'll trigger the Glock Cultists) but the Glock looks like someone started making a gun and just said "good enough" whereas the Ruger looks like someone really wanted to make a cool looking gun (imo).
I have both the Ruger Security 9 Compact and Canik 9 Compact. Gotta say that though I like them both a lot, I prefer the Ruger. The Canik spends all its time in the gun safe while I carry the Ruger daily. I am torn between the Ruger 8650 and the Springfield XDS. My AR15 is a Springfield Saint so I know they make quality guns. The xds is smaller - a plus, but like what I'm hearing about the Ruger plus the extra rounds. Not in stock in my area so I'm going to have to make an educated guess and order. Thoughts?
Sorry shouldve watched all before commenting, the glock has a dual spring too,but im a ruger guy, never had any problems, P90, sr40c and now American compact
Man thats a tough decision....... im gonna have to go with ruger. It just looks better. I own a glock and they just have no flash. They go bang though which is important. But they just look boring.
I'll take the Ruger. I have the RAP 9mm. I like it. I'd never put any aftermarket parts on it. It doesn't even need anything anyway. I want to buy a RAPc .45acp. I can't find one anywhere right now. Well I did put a Talon grip on mine, but that's it. The Ruger might be a tad heavier but it's a really solid gun.
Thanks for this review and for the comments! I was debating between these 2 for weeks now and was leaning towards the Ruger American, simply because I currently carry an old original LC9 and absolutely love it. Think I’m going to stick with Ruger.
Just acquired this weapon, I love the fact that there is zero slop in the slide, very solid weapon. Ruger is bringing the old skool shooters home to semi auto's in style!!!!!!
I own the Ruger and use it for home defense. Great gun all around. One after market change I made and recommend for dependability is swapping out the polymer striker guide for the Galloway Precision SS version. This assures that the firing pin works every time!
Idk what it is about that Ruger American comp 45 but as soon as I held it at the gun shop I walked out with it 3 minutes later. At the range is absolutely great. Of all my pistols I put my fn and glocks aside and always ends up walking out in the mornings with it in my holster
Great review, keep up the content. You should check out the girsen mc28sat sub $350 gun on a glock style frame with red dot optic and cnc cut slide some even have a threaded barrel. Hell of a gun
Ha! The 70 bucks towards ammo! You can say that again! I’m going out to get the ruger today based on your video and it’s availability! Love the channel!
I'd probably out for the 30s 😂 but either way I'd take the Glock. It's what I'm used to and would probably shoot and carry better for me. Like you said, there's lots of after market options for Glock. Regardless, I'm glad we live in a time and place where we can have both! Love these Vids btw!
I have been wanting the Ruger 45 ACP for a wile now I bought the compact Security 9 in 9mm which I do not regret at all a fine hand gun and would like to add the Compact American.45 although if I got the 9mm which I have the Ruger EC9s 9mm as well I would not have to buy the more expensive.45 ammo. And I would want to shoot that a lot so there is that but It would be sweet to have the .45 ACP. For those times when you want the additional power.
The RAC 45 is an underrated gun. Robust construction and a reliable & accurate performer. Carries well even with the 10rd magazine. Points much better than the Glock 36 whose limited capacity negates the weight advantage it provides.
I love glocks but the subcompact I hate. They probably great for some people but I have basketball player hands. I would honestly pick up your Khar in 45 vs either of them. No offense to the Ruger I've shot the 9mm compact (g19 size) pistol and it's a tremendous shooter. Have a great evening brother.
Got the gray one yesterday. Not very impressed and I'm a ruger fan. Gun only came with 2 mags and one was messed up. Makes a nosie when you move it up and down but when you squeeze the trigger sound goes away. I think it's coming from the striker but not sure, and if you press check the gun it dosen't always go back into battery. Also see a small part on the end of the barrel that looks to be missing the coating and the 2 grip modules are the same.
Ruger all day! Innovation, no repeats, and variants of the same old gun with 1 or 2 upgrades. My Glock 20, 21 are Gen 3.....*ABSOLUTELY* needed needed new triggers and sights, my G32 was likewise. I’m beating the dead horse here, but come on Glock, a 1911, a rifle....pistol freaking Carbine?! Glock “Perfection” is my real issue with Glock. Perfection would imply, straight out, that having *so* many aftermarket parts means that the original is *not* Perfection! Come on Glock!! I do really like my Gen 4 G19. I only had to replace the sights. Good comparison Dan! Got any to do a VS’s for one of your favorite compacts? FN of course (did you get the ,509 Compact?) VS’s the 2.0 Compact maybe??
Well brother you know me. Not a Glock fan. Feel in the hand has alot to do with that. Not to mention I never had any good luck with Glock. Besides the fact it's just ugly. LOL! Ruger American on the other hand just feel good to me. Seeing I carry 1911's regularly as an EDC the weight doesn't bother me at all. I'd go Ruger personally. Never had any Ruger fail on me. Even my P89 I purchased in 1992 still runs like a sewing machine. Almost 30 years service for me, and only God knows how many rounds though it. Great stuff as always brother. Stay safe!
I realign do not think the extra right comes into play once you start firing the weapon at which point it feels like a well built machine that can handle hell a abuse!
Have u shot any solid copper rounds thru your ruger yet, 185grain,im wanting some, right now i have speer gold dot g2 with polymer ir whatever it is in the tip and they work great
Buying a gun is like buying a car. I could buy a really popular car that's kind of plain in appearance and austere on interior amenities. I could buy it, too, because a lot of them are on the road. On the other hand, I could buy a car that's less popular with the crowd, less expensive, has the same engine, more amenities inside and better looks outside. Add to it the less expensive car is more comfortable to sit in and has a tad more luggage space. Now how many people buy a car knowing that any options you want are going to have to be after-market? Why not just get all the options you want right from the get go, no need to go after-market? To me, it's a no-brainer. The Ruger is my choice. There's an old saying that I just coined; If people bought steam ship tickets like they buy Glocks, the Titanic would still be packing them in!!!
Heavier gun gives better recoil control, more comfortable grip, better ergonomics, looks better, better priced, also has aftermarket support, every model is a different and good looking design. Ruger all the way

Production sites "GLOCK Ges.m.b.H. | Deutsch-Wagram, Austria, GLOCK Ges.m.b.H. | Ferlach, Austria, GLOCK s.r.o. | Bratislava, Slovakia, GLOCK Inc. | Smyrna, GA - USA" As you can see is it is an Austrian manufacturer that opened a U.S. facility for easier access to U.S. economy. However, by your rationale it is also Slovakian since they have a site in Slovakia. If you;re that much of a simpleton that you think Glock is an American company what else can one say except you're very dense. Glock is a U.S. company? Look at a map Douglas, if you can find one.
I’ll go Ruger and that gray is awesome!
I agree Nicole. Thanks
Finally a reviewer with good taste....Ruger Rules!!!
Thanks Jason
Gotta go with the Ruger. I've never like the angle on the Glocks. Not natural pointer (for me) and I personally don't like the finger bumps. That and least of all the styling. The Ruger is good looking (to me) while the Glock looks like some kid built it with Lego blocks.
i with u all the way
Amandla . ✊🏽
Haha thanks Chris
My sentiments exactly.
Raise your hand if u ever made a lego gun back in the day 🤚
I love that color of the Ruger too! Plus, it looked like it had less recoil than the lighter Glock. With .45, I will take a slightly heavier gun.
I prefer a heavier gun as well
I'm loving seeing the American Compact getting some love. I've had mine (in 9mm) since it was first released and I've absolutely loved it.
Me too bro
Dan, the Shield .45 would compare favorably with these. Don’t have the Ruger but do have Glock 36 & Shield .45 & it’s a dead heat between those 2 great guns.

I am actually considering purchasing the Ruger American (full size) in .45 ACP.
Excellent choice
Its not the best for small hands. Its wide and heavy. But it looks great, its American made and selling for about $480.
Many people love it
I've had one for a few years. No issues. I like it.
I love mines just went to the range yesterday and I ordered the extended mags 10
I'm going with Ruger, looks badass, the ergos are better and the price is much better. Better bargain for your buck. Factory Glock isn't anything special. And over priced
Good stuff bud
Until you try and find a holster to carry it...
@dustin not hard to find at all. Simple google search will show you that

Glad to hear that Jeff
Were I to carry a small .45, I would put up with the extra weight of the Ruger, for it's superior ergonomics plus one more round.
As much as I love my glocks, I think I'd pick the Ruger on this one. I was looking at them on Buds and I think I'll have to pull the trigger now. Very good comparison video my friend.
Much appreciated S P
Ruger all day long! I love the compact American and I have to say the security9 is a better pistol than I thought it was going to be. 2 nice pistols from who else, Ruger!

Just picked up that exact color Ruger a few days ago! Can't wait to get to the range with it 👍🏽
Sounds like a cannon bro
Based on the review comparison as well as this comment section, I'm glad I made the choice of the Ruger
Man thats a tough decision....... im gonna have to go with ruger. It just looks better. I own a glock and they just have no flash. They go bang though which is important. But they just look boring.
Pretty much every decent gun made in 2020 goes bang haha.
Well said Rillo
I hear you on that. I have flicks and they ain’t sexy but they run. Like a hammer, just does the job it was made for.

Great Review ...your one of the best on TH-cam...I've Bought MANY Guns due to your reviews ...thank you!😀
Shot a full size SR 45... SWEET shooter...
Really tough decision.....not really...lol I'll take the Ruger. Plus I like a little extra weight for recoil lessening.

Only thing keeping me from the 30s for ccw is no manual safety
SHIELD .45!!
Hey, Dan!
That’s a nice grey finish...and ambi? It’s a killer over the Glock!
I’m with ya’ one this one, Brother. 🇵🇷
Thanks Ricky
Can you get the Ruger with a thumb safety
Yes
If only 6 rounds in .45, Springfield XDS .45... Slim powerhouse .75" Wide, and very accurate (regret trading it). Great content man, keep it up.
Thanks bud
The RAC 45 is an underrated gun. Robust construction and a reliable & accurate performer. Carries well even with the 10rd magazine. Points much better than the Glock 36 whose limited capacity negates the weight advantage it provides.

The ruger has an optional safety too. And the Novak sights are expensive.

For single stacks I think they're a bit big. Guns like my S&W Shield 45 or the Kahr series of pistols are a far better choice. Just my opinion.
Thanks T

Kratos, you just said what millions of people are thinking about Glocks
TheFireArmGuy Thanks Dan, I was actually chosen as a representative of those millions, to voice what others fear to say out loud lol j/k
My hand has never met a Glock it liked. I've shot a few, I can shoot them. But for the money, there are better options.
I would usually agree with you. The Glock 43X changed my mind, it's the most ergonomic Glock, for my hand atleast!
Thanks bud
Please do a review of the kel-tec PF 9
Glock. All day, errry day..........

I like them both but I am a Glock 33 owner
.357 Sig. I dig it
I realign do not think the extra right comes into play once you start firing the weapon at which point it feels like a well built machine that can handle hell a abuse!
Dan I had an American but ever time i shot it my mag gel out because of the ambi mag release.
That's crazy. Never happened to me
TheFireArmGuy happened to mr guns and gear too
When I saw that glock torture test video my outlook on glock completely changed. It's ok we still got STEYR and FNH
Thanks Tommy
I'm going with the Glock but I do like the looks of the Ruger.
Thanks BEM
Great video
Thanks Dannie

I must say, I do like my Gen 4 finger grooves ...I don't have any issue with the grooves ...
Me either, love my G19 Gen4 with night sights.
Glad it's working well for you Rich
Nice guns, but aren't they too big for concealed-carry?
Glock the most reliable station wagon on the road
not really
Maybe....... but its butt ugly!!!
Thanks man
I had a 36, sold it and purchased a 30s, much better all around!
Good stuff Greg
I like Ruger American because it's American 🇺🇲
Heavier gun gives better recoil control, more comfortable grip, better ergonomics, looks better, better priced, also has aftermarket support, every model is a different and good looking design. Ruger all the way
Good stuff man
I have the full size and I love it
Thanks Tom
RUGER 👍🔥
American Ruger all day everyday ! Hell yeah 🇺🇸🇺🇸
Thanks Drew
Ruger American Compact all the way for me!
Thanks Rocksterio
Ruger American for the win!
Thanks Charles
The grip is too small on the glock
You must've read my mind. I thought these 2 might be the best of the type at a decent price.
Very cool James
Ruger for me !!!!
Thanks Gerald
Glock!
Thanks Jason
I have the Ruger American compact in 9mm. I can’t miss at the range with it! Makes 9mm feel effortless to shoot accurately
Ruger
Thanks Paula
They both look nice🇳🇱👍🏻🇺🇲
RUGER
Thanks Big Dog
Ruger for me..
Both good guns I’ll go with what I know glock
And the winner is...................................Smith and Wesson Shield lol.
Haha thanks Stormy
Ruger!
Thanks AScott
I'll stick with the G36.
Thanks Mr Kitty
Glock 30s all the way, but between those, yes the glock 36 is better. Lighter is better. Might outrun ya in a foot race.
Thanks Chloe
Ruger all the way Dan..
Thanks Matt
I'd still take the Ruger
Ruger all the way.
Thanks David
I'll take the Glock!!
Thanks G
Luv u firearm guy - get rid of the irritating white background
👍😎☕🇱🇷
Thanks Peter
that ruger just pukin ugly lol , compared to the clean line of the glock . aesthetics matters not even a glock fan
I think it looks great
I'll go with the Ruger and $70 of ammo compared to the Glock. Of course you can add $150 of extra parts to the Glock to make it perfect!
I hear ya Jeff
Ruger is a great company with great customer support.
Agreed
Ruger is still trying to make the American happen?
Yes and doing well with it
@@TheFirearmGuy really interesting video one of my buddies got the full size. It was pretty good for malfunction drills.
I'd go with all American made Ruger.
Hell yeah
Romans 6two3 I have the Ruger American compact .45 and it’s a very good and reliable firearm.
Thanks Romans
