I agree with your choice of the Remington; however I need to add a Glock 41 to go along with my long slide Glocks 40, 24 and 17L. There are so many guns and so little money!
I carried a Glock 21 as a duty weapon for 16 years. My department recently switched us a Glock 17 Gen 5s. They gave us the option to buy the 21s needless to say I did
I don't blame you, I just finally found a Gen 4 Glock 21. Looked for over a year and found a USA made one for $550, which came to $593 with tax. I've seen them around but way over priced at $700. That was a very good day, out of all places I found it at a Pawn shop that sells new firearms.
Im a 1911 guy. I own a single stack R1 and a Glock 21 gen 3. I love the DS 1911s but holster options have always been the biggest con. For this test based on my experience and cost not being a factor Im going with DS R1. All the new guns that come out are awesome in their own way but the 1911 platform still holds its own everytime.
I'm facing the opposite holster issue. All I could find (locally ...and cheap) was a L-hand duty holster for the 21. I ain't left handed. I still bought it but it was an adjustment.
Reliability? There’s nothing more reliable than a quality 1911. I have 30-40k rounds through 3 different Glocks and I like them and my Springfield XD. But even in single stack I’m more accurate and faster through the various training programs I’ve attended.
Thank you for the vision sir both great as you said it the money was not a problem the remington would be the chosen one have a great holiday sir and keep on shooting
The Remington R1's are essentially just Para-Ordnance P14 double stacks rebranded. P14 double stack conversion kits came out in the 1980s. They made complete double stack 45s since 1990.
Remington is under new owners for the last couple of years. Ruger bought Marlin back in the fall and they moved all the equipment and product to North Carolina I believe. Ruger makes good gun's with excellent customer service. You have to forgive me, I'm a Ruger fanboy. I'll let myself out now.
I have a Remington R1 but it's not a double stack. Didn't know they made a double stack. I know sometime ago that para ordnance came out with a 1911 double stack but I read that it was a very troublesome firearm. I don't think they even make it anymore.
Have you checked out the .460 Rowland conversion kits? It'll turn both those guns into high cap .44 mag hand canons with just a barrel and recoil spring.
Love your videos you’re one of my favorite gun channels on TH-cam and that’s the honest truth and the fact that you’re a Michigander doesn’t hurt God bless you merry Christmas to you and your family 🙏🏻
Which one would be easier to carry all day long the Glock 21 or the heavier Remington R1? Personally have no personal preference in firearm or manufacture, as long as it's reliable and has no known safety issues.
I've been wanting one of those r1s ever since i laid eyes on it. The only way i would get a glock is if i got it dirt cheap or for free. Id go with an fnx45 instead. Is the r1 really heavy?
I recently picked up a sar k2 45c. With the +2 baseplates from galloway precision u can't beat 17 rds of 45. I'm not a fan of glock but I've always wanted a remington 1 doublestack 45 ever since i seen it on your channel. There like triple the price of what i payed for my sar tho
Remington R1 Limited any day. You're right, it is worth the additional money. By the way, I'm not a Glock hater, I own two, including the 30s in .45 acp.
I was never a Glock fan but recently wanted a .45 acp to add to my collection and it was between the Ruger American Pistol .45 acp or the G21 Gen 4 .45 acp and I finally pulled the trigger on the G21 wow what a pistol,I love it,dare i say im a Glock fan now, great video mate, cheers from Canada✌
Just about all I own has to be able to be carried also, so the G21-- semper gumby. Maybe a Kimber or the RIA 3.10, but the combo of lbs & slide length mean that this Rem 1911 is bedside only choice.
My first Glock was a(Gen2), 21 back in the early 90's just before I got my CHL. I added a Gen4, 21 a few years ago. I have a no experience with the Remington, but it looks nice. BTW I enjoyed seeing the snowy landscape.
I am a 1911 guy. I own seven from as many makers. So, I am somewhat bias. However, my Remington 1911 is the one that I shoot the most and have the most fun with. Well balanced, accurate and it will shoot any ammo and use just about any brand of magazine. I do own some poly-pistols but I don't shoot them well and I just can't get away from the aversion that they feel like. . ..well..... plastic.
Personally, I do love 1911s but they haven't loved me back. I've just had poor luck with them over the years. For a range toy I'd take a double stack 1911 for sure. For a firearm that I might be betting my life on? I'll take that Glock 21 (or my Glock 41) any day.
Both fine firearms but for me I like my .45 in 1911 so the Remington for my choice. Great video and hope your family has a Very Merry Christmas 🌲☃️🎅🕯️👼🙏👍
I own a glock 30SF for carry and is an excellent firearm. Therefore, i chose to go with Glock. Flawless reliability and I would rather put an extra 450 worth of my own modifications to my Glock than the Remington R1. I wouldn't mind owning both though. Merry Christmas everyone!
To have just to have for cool factor? The Remington. To have for everything else? The 21. I have 1911's by the way, albeit single stack 1911's and I like them plenty. I've also had a Gen 2 G-21, Gen 4, and now two gen 3's in the SF flavor. The Glock pistols in 45 just work. (And even the G-36 works sometimes...) Thanks for the video.
I have a G21 which is my favorite pistol in my collection. I also own the single stack 1911 R1 Enhanced which is an excellent pistol. It’s a quality firearm with an fit and finish that belies it’s price. Both are great pistols that will remain in my collection. If I had to pick one, I have to say the Glock wins for me because I shoot it better than my single stack R1 Enhanced. TFS, Dan. Merry Christmas to you and yours. 👍🏻🎄🎁
I just put on lay away a G21!! I personally own a Ruger SR1911 .45 & a Springfield Armory A1 Mil Spec.45 and absolutely love them both. I have chosen to purchase the G21 solely on the 13 round capacity magazines. Aside from this I will take the 1911 pistols over the G21 anytime!!!
I enjoy my Glock 21 quite a bit so I'm going with that I also have the Rock Island Tac Ultra 45 Double Stack looks very similar to your Rem R1and looks like the same Magazine too? but anyway it is also a nice shooting pistol too
Gen 3 G21 was my first .45 and I have a lot of history with it, but I'd have to go with the Remington (despite the $$$) HOWEVER, Rock Island has the Ultra FS HC in .45 So a series 70 with 15+1 of .45 for a lot less than $1k Thanks for the comparison video Dan 👍🏽
The R1 is a beaut and if money isn't a factor then yes, but if money is then the Glock all day. Plus with ammo the way it is today the Glock is just more practical. Use the savings to buy ammo. Dan thanks for the video, love the snow wish we had some.

Hey Don, as you may recall I come from the loins of a Custom 1911 Pistolsmith and have quite a few 1911's either of my Dads Build or Wilson Combat, Dan Wesson or Les Baer! For my money though I would go with the Glock 21 (especially if it were a SF Model) because of the reliability and price point of the firearms. I really only know Remington Rifles and have no experience their handgun line. the last "Double Stack" that I had was an ATI Fatboy LW that I should have kept... it was a nasty lil-bastard ';-) See Ya...
This is cool. [Thanks for the slow notification YT.] I have the (full-size) R-1 CARRY, and a Gen 3 Model 21. I'd rather carry the 1911. That said:The 21 had a pair of Kriss Vector mags with it.

I’d go with the R1, because 2 more rounds, better trigger, if you reload it would be easier because the Glock bells the casing mouth, it’s a little thinner makes it better to conceal. I like Glock also. But for my personal opinion and for my consideration the 1911 is the way to go
I'd get the glock due to the aftermarket accessories alone and reliability although I do have a 1902 45acp colt plus I'm familiar with glocks I have a 19 and 26 but definitely need a 1911 cause I don't wanna destroy a piece of history with the 1902 there was only 9210 made I have #1081
TWO WORLD WARS!!!! I know it's silly, but I'd take the metal over the plastic any day of the week and twice on Sunday. Thanks for the great videos Dan! Much love y'all!
I wish I could find one of the R1s
Yes, they are tough to find
They are out of stock literally E.v.e.r.y.w.h.e.r.e
I just found 1 in Maine. They said they can’t get anymore. I went n looked at it once n a week later went back n There she was!!!! Lol Mine now!

Black point tactical. Switched to them about 8 years ago. They are super nice and have a combo for about everything.
Our man Dan in a winter wonderland, brilliant!
Haha thanks again
For looks & accuracy- R1. For reliability, apocalypse & the last gun available to protect my family- G21.
Good stuff Ian

Definitely interested more in the 1911. What's the grip like in comparison to the Glock or a single stack 1911?

Remington 1911......it's an awesome gun. Great job Dan!

You should be using target rounds. This is also for 2022.
I would go with Remington. Since we are talking 1911 Can we get a Remington vs Rock Island.
