Bro, im in tears laughing at the elec bonus part. Only in Warframe. I had noticed the numbers being all wacked out but couldn't figure out or invest resources to look into it further. I just noticed that the damage return was way more than what should had been happening.

Another interesting Interaction: The bonus for crit damage (and all shard effects) apply to sevagoth's shadow, and even though the shadow can't reach 500 energy even with Primed Flow, only sevagoth himself needs to reach 500+ energy to give them BOTH the bonus. Considering Shadow's Claws have the highest crit multiplier of all exalted weapons, you can see some funny numbers.
they also work on hound weapons but critical chance mods are bugged on them and don't work at all. Not that you could ever reach 50% from base 10 without any rivens even existing in the first place.
I assume the energy maximum is 'snapshotted' on the frame at some point at the start of the mission. Like the game checks if you should receive the bonus, and adds it for the duration of the mission, regardless of if you continue to qualify.
@@Joe90h DE is crazy careful about that kind of thing TBH, in mission snapshotting used to be nasty I'm told. I'd bet the game checks as you mod, and then determines if your loadout gets the bonus or not. IE, just applying it as an invisible mod to your loadout, kinda like how Lich weapon bonuses are an unseen ninth mod slot with how they work.

That bug is probably the result of someone who didn't know/forgot that shards don't have to be slotted left to right. The algorithm works properly if you can't have empty slots in the middle: check the position of the right-most shard to get the total number of shards slotted, then subtract the number of shards of the wrong types to get the number of shards of the correct type, and set the bonus based on that. It only breaks when there are empty slots in the middle rather than filling left to right.
As a Gyre main, I'm glad that I'm not the only one who has 3 tauforged +15% ability damage violet shards implanted onto her spine :D

It would be additive to other strength mods so would bring a much lower bonus than the ability damage which is multiplicative to the strength buffs. with 4 reds youd get 328% + 45% = 373% effective ability damage while with the purple shards you get 328% * (1 + 0,15 + 0,15 + 0,15) = 328% * 1,45 = 475,5% effective ability damage. If youre going for a build where you kill with abilities this gives you much more damage that far outweighs the slightly higher weapon crit the reds would offer through her 3
(this is all assuming you used the build shown in the video and just changing between 1 tau red 3 tau violet/4 tau red)

@@jazzWF not really, for you to be able to progress the game you have to get at least and decent level of understanding with the modding system. DE even after all this time still hasn't given newer players a proper introduction to said system. They really need to focus on refinement rather than adding new content every year. Sure the vets may not have much to do if DE went back through all of the content that is in the game already but it needs work in most areas that they just constantly overlook.
I put 2 violets (NOW TAUFORGED AS OF APRIL 2024) on my citrine to remove equilibrium, I barely noticed any difference in performance, especially after considering the amount of orbs a single cast of her 1st can produce and the fact that I can now fill that mod slot with more power strenght/duration or any other stat I may want to use. I absolutely recommend it.
A purple shard with the health and energy option was a game changer for my nourish titania build. All the energy I could ever want and I still get all my mod slots
I use the equilibrium shard effect on citrine, she makes alot of health orbs so just having slightly more energy income means im able to spam her abilities much more effectively
I would just like to mention with equilibrium, most builds that use it could get by with only a half ranked mod, being that is 60% you can reach that with 2 tau forged archon shards and add flow or efficiency to the build make up for the lack of equilibrium not being equipped.
I'm not Short on Capacity... But I am Short on Slots.... So for my Builds it's Either All or Nothing. 😤

Another education lesson from TheKingineer. Thanks man for helping me understanding this game better. I actually used the Equilibrium effect of the Violet Shards on Nekros with Despoil and it works VERY well, completely removing the need for the mod itself as Desecrete seems to take a little over the amount it gives back, so with 2, it completely counters Despoil's health cost, might be worth looking into for frames that use health as a resource instead of energy (just a thought)

Nekros with a single Purple Tauforged is more than enough energy regen to keep my kit going *as long as the enemy density is high enough*; so I run 2, because I'm at perfect armor strip, I've got a very solid survivability from despoil and shield of shadows and gloom; rolling guard and breif respite. I don't know what else I'd put in there - I already have a Tauforged amber. I *am* considering moving one of the purples into the electric boost mod though, just for the extra DPS.
9:20 you forgot about Entropy Effect. +25% max energy for 30 seconds up to x3 for +75% with 185% flow resulting in +260% energy just in case if you need 1152 energy on Garuda or your frame has more than 139 energy you may still use it but the reality is fitting more than 1 isn't a very comfortable solution unless you really want Atomos Kullervo.
A few things you didn't consider with the bonus electricity damage would be volt shield giving all ranged weapons electricity procs + crit damage and also with melee influence builds you will usually be stacking a lot of electricity procs for AOE damage (though I think melee crit bonus would be better for this build anyway)

I use the tau shard 30% conversion effect only on citrine, she produces more health orbs than i need, which is more than sufficient to keep her energy up and to free up a mod slot.

We had a good 2023 with a lot of QoL Updates like damage numbers, ability damage color and unique weapon traits descriptions which definitely improved the game a lot.
The purple shard for energy is such a nice slot replacer. Sure it is an smaller buff than equilibrium, but it is a fair trade to free a whole mod slot, specially for such a drain heavy mod

The primary electric buff works very well with Torid + Hydroid. With only a heat mod and a subsumed nourish you can get Corrosive + Viral + Radiation + Toxin which shreds everything and works especially well against the murmur for Netracells.
I bet I can tell you exactly how the weapon buff bug came about. On the check for 'is this shard the right color' they should have set the default boolean value to 'false' and checked each slot for a viable shard that would match. But they did it backwards. The default was set to 'true' and is only being changed to false when a certain color is detected but they didn't code for an empty slot so those always show a 'true' value and thus give the extra damage.

Though Sevagoth himself has enough energy to utilise the bonus melee critical damage, Sevagoth's Shadow does not. So you will need to add a tuaforged blue shard on to Sevagoth for the shadow claws.
Where do you check the bonus damage to see if it is still stacking like this? I put an unmodded weapon on and the Electricity bonus did not seem to add up. This is on Xbox, so maybe it doesn't work there.

I put one violen shard on Mesa for Fulmin so Fulmin damage increased then I put another Tauforged then damage increased again. Plus 3 more azure ones and the numbers are big. But my Fulmin sometimes say 13 something thousand damage and sometimes it says 14 something thousad...and I don't want to waste my bille on trying.

I use the equilibrium shard on my grendel. Because of nourish, i get basically the same amount on energy as if i had the mod. The only negative is that I don't get the health benefits. But its fine.
While I'm not gonna waste many tauforged shards on minmaxing, the tauforged violet (weird it wasnt named amethyst) could make for a decent low rank equilbrium replacement in configs that are struggling for slots.
I have three of these on my Valkyr Prime for Hysteria crit. I think they help. The other two slots I plan to eventually use for parkour velocity. Gotta go fast!
I can't get a straight answer on if they stack for melee or not and unfortunately he didn't answer that in the video
im trying to make a dagoth/amprex build. the idea is to subsume her 1 with tharros strike to completely armor strip enemies and then hit them with doom. then spray at them with a amprex with hunter munitions, viral damage, and lots of crit and status. so lots of damage from the bleed procs. will these purple shards increase my electric damage and therefore increase the procs from the slash status effect from hunter munitions?
I just finished fully sharding my Kullervo with tauforged violet shards so enjoying an extra 375% crit damage on his auto crits after using his 1, with a 25% crit damage dual ichor i am melting steel path adds
considering balance, I don't mind empty slots counting as not interfering with the purple shards, as long as this effect counted all empty slots, and not just the ones to the left of the shard. if this calculation took into account all slots, I think its fine. limiting it so empty slots don't count seems too harsh. Empty slots are inherently worse than a filled slot of the right colour, so there is still incentive to fill those up.
Time to update my builds
The problem is that to get a purple shard you have to give up a red and none of the buffs really beat a permanent buff to str or occasionally duration and the melee boost for yhe melee exalteds or the secondary crit for mesa
Something I sorta like is using the equilibrium shard on characters with strong nourish, which basically ends up bringing it back to being regularly functional but with still a fair bit of space to mod for. Without nourish though it's not really good imo and not worth the shard slot. But if you got nourish and nothing better it works decent
i like using it on channeled ability frame (valkyr, nyx + absorb, oberon) just as a way to get more energy reliably without having to turn off my ability.

Everybody shitting on Oberon, while in the meantime I'm just standing here buffing everyone with like 300% Radiation and Viral, giving massive heals and armor and making everyone status immune when the situation calls for it. Can even do a nuking set-up with his ultimate + augment if I'm in the mood for it.

Equilibrium lite might only be useful for health orb tanking with health conversion. Or maybe with dispensary, as empowered health orbs woud give 20 energy, almost an energy orb's worth

This shard is really good on Khora w/ Lycath's hunt or Nourish. Even with just 45% efficiency I always stay above 500 energy. Don't know whether the dmg carries to pseudo exalted tho as I don't have any Violet shard.
I mean they are insane on Gyre and definitely one of the strongest builds in Warframe atm

Sevagoth was not on the list of frames that need extra maximum energy to use the purple shard bonus, and I'm pretty sure he doesn't have enough maximum energy.
Note to self, add Violet Shards to Valkyr WITH Equilibrium, to maybe make her feel less desperate for every orb.
I did this and it helps, also dethcubes energy generator mod add it to the mix for more energy
I run her with archon continuity, claws built for toxin and increased slash damage, then just a lot of duration at the cost of range.
Equilibrium helps immensely with upkeep on her 4, but I also override her paralyze with nourish for viral and the energy multiplier since with low range it's hard to hit anything with paralyze anyway.
Got 4 violet archons in her for crit and one yellow for casting speed and yeah, it slaps.

They do stack. Valkyr's claws deal an innate 2x crit damage multiplier yet on my setup without any other bonuses she has a 7x. I am currently gaining 248% melee crit damage bonus from 4 shards(2 basic for 50% each, 2 tau for 74% each.) Each 100% bonus would add another 2x to the multiplier, and the near 50% would add a 1x, so it adds up. On my full kit with Gladiator Might, Organ Shatter, and the bonus from Tenacious Bond, I'm hitting a massive 11.2x multiplier. @@unrhu

Ive slotted 4 violets primary electricity damage into Ivara for Artemis Bow with Ensnare, and it feels so goood; but, what about frames like Hildryns Baelfire?
Could we boost its damage further with electricity ability damage shards? As its technically still an ability despite being a weapon.
I reckon Balefire wouldn't work as it does use secondary mods. Topaz shards for the increased crit chance (Hildryn's haven augment does burn everything in sight) alongside Arcane Avenger could give consistent critical hits... so that could be a way to buff her Balefire? But Hildryn really wants those shard slots for other things like more strength >.
The third abiltie english is bad i have excatly 500 energy on my frame but im alwahs just below it while actually play will i always have double affect as long as i can get 500 energy

I mostly just use equilibrium to trigger that mod that gives you 450 armor stacking up to three times when you pick up a health orb, the healing an energy is meh, it actually might let me keep my stacks maxed out easier with a worse version since ill be picking up more orbs.
this is only a guess on the programing side for the electric bonus, its probably setup as a -check for wrong color- and forgot to add in nothing as a wrong color. warframe bugs are always funny in some way

For those watching this now. DO NOT use electric bonus on a warframe with which you plan to use a status based primary, you're gonna destroy the proportions. Use ele bonus if you plan to use the warframe with a primary for full corrosive OR radiation dmg (magnetic too if you really plan to)

You mentioned that Wisp can activate but doesn't make great use of the ability damage shard, but wouldn't it buff breach surge damage? That's a pretty high-damage ability that she uses frequently.
So long as the targets of the breach surge damage get hit only after being zapped by the shock mote, that'll do it yes.

Both are additive to mods. If you have +100% from the shards and +100% from shock trooper, it's like you put a +200% electric mod on your primary weapon (both use HCET rules).
Violet archon shards make me look at gyre like a piece of steak
even if they patch it it seems like the electricity on primary is still the best. Though what I'm curious about is if the electricity will it double dip. With the radiation mod and electric mods or guns like Phantasma which has innate radiation. Because double or triple boosts would be amazing.

Im working on getting valkyr the full set of tau purple melee shards. Right now i have 2 tau shards, which puts my talins crit multiplier somewhere around 13x.
@@unrhu the melee energy damage does stack. There isn't a melee electric form of the shard, that's specific to primary weapons. Those appear to stack, but they wouldn't help for what I'm up to. Might throw extras onto Wisp tho
Admittedly kind of bummed about number 2. Not because of the bug, mind, but because I was desperately hoping that it would work like a pure elemental multishot like xaku's whisper, just electric damage. Being able to force electric onto your primary without needing to mod for it and not needing to worry about it messing up your builds would be so much better. Not going to knock the damage boost, as it is still very nice... but probably not going to use that feature on my nyx now.
Are multiple shards using the ability damage buff work multiplicatively or additively with each other ? If I put 3 violet, do I get 30% Ability Damage or I get a measly 11.1% (I might be wrong I suck at math) from them ? And do they cross over with different element (like a topaz for radiation and a violet for electricity) ?
30%, they add together. If you have an enemy with electricity and radiation with both normal shards equip you will have a 20% bonus and they all add together with abilities like Roar

DizzyFi in the comments mentioned that shards do transfer to the Shadow, only Sevagoth needs to reach 500 energy to get the bonus for the Shadow's claws.

Unless they recently patched it, the primary electricty buff ONLY works for the flat ammount and NOT the additional for other shards. I assume it's a bug.
its ok if you want to mod for anything but actual damage and dont have any enchancing abilities. Truth is. Only use primary when Smeeta allows.

I was about to use Gyre with an electric weapon with the violet archon shards 45%+ electric bonus, but I was like na. I didn’t want to make the investment on just one weapon I didn’t enjoy using; the Amprex. I was thinking about using the Ambassador or the Gyre exclusive weapon, but none of them reach the heights of the incarnon weapons.

As a Nezha main who got stuck with 2 Tau Forged and 1 Violet Shard in the butt, hunting Eidolons with Vectis has never been much easier.
Violet Shard Melee saved my Excaliprime from oblivion.
More and more I look at the combined shards the more I see(aside from purple giving extra dmg on primary for eidolons) the less I want to both with them
