Only in S CAL would you see our great Firefighters and Emergency Responder's at work in a video that is worthy of any movie trailer I have seen of late....thank you so much for the selfless work you do for us each and every day....

I respectfully argue the point that its ONLY in S CAL where you see great Firefighters, that there are Wild land Firefighters nationwide that battle fires every year, as I've been doing this work now for over 13 years, its only the LARGE fires that get most attention like in CA, but i believe it is a noble and rewarding career and the men and women that do this work, do it out of sense of calling, and at times can be exhausting and mentally, physically challenging work. The wild land fire service is finally getting some attention as it should and i am especially thankful of that, watching these videos make me enjoy my job even more. Thanks and God Bless.

Thank you so much for making this video
And thank you to all the firefighters for the selfless work they do!
I am currently 14 but I have become infatuated with firefighting and everything that it Entails!
I want to become a wild land firefighter (maybe smokejumper or hotshot) any stories?
Any advice for the future or even right now?
    Thank you all once again!
    Lu

get fit. Get used to walking at least three miles with 45 pounds or more on your back in under 45 minutes. Look online for programs you can do to see what you can learn before you go in, or go to a college that has wild land fire science and see if this is truly what you want to do.

Take S130/S190, S290 L180 then take your work capacity test commonly referred to as your red card which is 3 miles in under 45 minutes with a 45 pound pack then once you pass that apply to as many crews in California and federal crews as you can

Know what kind of options you have in your area. If you go through a federal agency like the Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, or Department of Natural Resources your most likely gonna have to apply online. If you go with a local department with contract with any federal agencies get to know the crew and go to a few trainings, they'll point you in the direction you have to go. They'll either put you through online courses or guard school, then you take an arduous pack test, which is 3 miles in 45 minutes with 45 pounds, this will certify you to get your redcard, which is required to fight fire on federal land.

      @@pattil7947 Good day.
I have a question about wearable equipment, in particular, chainsaws. I see you only have big and heavy saws, why aren't there smaller ones? Indeed, in some works they will be much more convenient and, moreover, lower fuel consumption.
Another question about axes, there are large ax picks with which you dig the ground and sometimes chop down tree trunks, but they are not as heavy for some work, why there are no small sharp axes, 40-50 centimeters handle, it is very convenient for them to cut down bushes, for example.
      Thank.
