Your videographer captured some great shots of the processing today! She gets my vote for employee of the month!
Great speed 😊 hope you gind a new bar soon. If your camera operator is an employee , I nominate her for employee of the month. If she is an independent contractor, that would obviously disqualify her, but maybe a bonus like 1/2 of a house or something. Take care.🤠
haha! Thanks for thinking of her Lance!
The Japa was just crankin! Hopefully you can find a new bar and get it changed. Great video Joe! - Tim
Joe, great video. I told my wife I hoped the bad storms from a few days ago didn’t relocate your new roof over the JAPA 405, from the video I’m watching looks like you’re all set. Joe, again great video & have a great day👍👍.
haha this vid was about a week ago. All good up here so far!
Thanks for sharing. Always enjoy your videos, stay well be safe Joe.
Thanks Aliscia👍
Hey Joe the new smell of oak is profit. Hope you grow to like it. Shout out to Log Hauler Jesse. Y'all have a great 👍 day
Thanks Mike. I don't think my nose will permit me buddy!
Fun to watch.
You need to make room for the International Expo.
I think we will be ok but I'm trying to get that one row of logs processed to open up more space. I doubt any new logs will be coming in until the ground firms up
Your processor runs effortlessly with only one person. It's the best I've seen great choice you made. Maybe hydraulic pressure/flow could be increased/adjusted higher if new bar does not rectify problem. Imagine this processor with a guillotine type cutoff instead of chain saw faster and no loss of kerf while eliminating chain saw maintence routine and sawdust accumulation. Production would increase substantially while reducing operating costs. Also by adding stroke length to splitter the processor could switch automatically changeing between 4X, 5X, and 6X splitter blades kinda of like geting to eat your cake as an added bonus. Production would increase astronomically. I love the after splitting cleaning this system provides for your split wood. As processor is in a fixed location with unlimited power available for this facility location and does not need to be mobile consider changing to electric powered processor which would more than half your operating hourly costs for fuel and maintenance and increase reliability Ray Stormont
Quick work, Joe! Have a great day! 👍
Thanks RG!
Hi Joe - it's Big Rodders in Ireland. Happy St Patrick's Day from the Emerald Isle to you and all your subscribers.
Awesome! Thanks BR!
Nice load of oak!
Thanks Zeke!👍
Good morning Joe, nice video. Elaine from Canada here, you lifted and changed out the wedges like it was nothing! Nice. And thanks for the explanation and commentary at the end about the saw, slash, live deck etc. (inquiring minds like to know). The Japa is hungry and you fed it. Keep up the good work, cheers.
haha Thanks Elaine!
Nice work! You split while advancing the log. Too often I see the split, then advance.
The learning curve is working.
I enjoyed the video.
I would be even faster when I get the new bar and can dial in the saw correctly
Great splitting session!! Stay Hydrated and Have a Safe Day
We used to put the old bars on the grinder real quick and take that burred edge off, sometimes you can hit it with the flat file. You get a little more life out of them. but when it is spread out and allows the chain to tilt they are pretty much done.
I am going to file it and see if there is any difference. Thanks buddy
Anchor seal good hardwood logs so you have material to mill at the show every year. Look into converting a 40' container into a kiln. Perfect use in a boiler of yard recycling and sawdust blocks.
All of that is possible but I just don't have the interest right now to try. One day maybe
pretty sweet set up you got there Joe
That's getting it done Joe! The faster you process oak the less you have to smell it.
hahaha which was my plan Bill!
the machine is fast thanks for vija
Good Sunday morning from Nova Scotia Canada
Hi there Chief. Happy Sunday to you
Hi Joe - it's Big Rodders in Ireland. It's an easy job to dress a worn bar to make it serviceable again - all you need is a vice and a file. Happy St Patrick's Day from the Emerald Isle.
OWB is the king of premium service firewood!
Thanks Mr Clown!
@@ohiowoodburnerPlease just refer to me as 'P;Nut.' Do you understand the reason for the semicolon in my clown handle? It's because I underwent a colon resection of my ascending colon due to several cancerous polyps, which now makes me a 'SEMI-COLON'."
Good. Job. Nice. Video you. Do. Good. Work
Thanks Ralph
Hi Joe, had a 30inch bar reconstituted recently $65. Ground the wear edges off and"pressed" the groove to the correct width. Cuts beaut now and was athird of the price of a new bar. I'll get a new one soon anyway and then have a spare. Cheers from HB NZ
And that is why I love this channel
Thanks Andy
Looks good Joe. Enjoy The Journey - Cheers
Thanks Bob👍
Good opening camera pan sequence, Joseph.
You can thank my little writer. She was home from her eastern PA school for spring break! Lol
It was a refreshing video technique. It follows the rule of good writing: The most important sentence we write is the first. That’s the one that encourages readers to read the second.
Always injoy a trip to Oakland
blah! LOL
I like the way that you set up the way that you are operating. It looks fast and lest amount of having to rehandle the logs to get the results that you want. Very good job, keep the videos coming...
Thanks Terry. Glad you liked it buddy
Looking good 👍
Thanks for the visit nick
Hi Joe: The operation is looking good. Metsa has a steel bar for the Japa’s now. I found they last longer than the aluminum bars. You local saw shops should be able to make up chains for you.
I have the replacement bars but they are the shorter ones. Do you use the 60 or 61 DL?
@ohiowoodburner I would try the bar and chain you have first before having chain shortened. If there is enough adjustment, it will most likely work.
The did a great job on the Oak, have a great day
Thanks Larry!
Nice Oak Joe. The 405JAPA is just the Right way to do the Oak. The New Bar and Chain will be good. I just changed the Bar on my Stihl Farm Boss. I usually change it once a Year. No work today or tomorrow, just to Tired, as I think I did to much On Thursday for only an hour. Hopefully come around. Very Cold out this week and Windy but I am going to cut Some Wood at some point for an Hour my Friend. Stay Well, and Safe Buddy till your next Video. Ron from the Woodyard in Duanesburg NY.
Thanks Ron. Take your time buddy. You will get stronger im sure
The processor definitely makes things easier for you. 😉👍
Definitely!
Hey Joe, great job. I would like to see Japa come out with a processor with a circular saw. I think with all the good press you give them you should get one to permanently test. I don’t think that I’m off when I say that you are the reason for half of their sales.
Thanks for the high regards Steve. Japa is an awesome machine for sure buddy. Hope I can find this 16" bar somewhere
Speed Splitting at its best, But where’s the seat for you😂 Good Show Joe👏🤘🏻🪵🇺🇸
I need a lazy boy and an end table....I would never leave the wood yard! LOL
@@ohiowoodburner😂
Joe looks like you have everything moving right along. That’s the way to make firewood. You make more in 20 minutes than I make all day. Take care.
...and I get cold making it LOL
@@ohiowoodburner You need to get one with the enclosed cab and heater.
Have you considered flat filing the chain bar lightly touched up with a grinder works well also any good grade bar should have many hours of use until completely of no use
Brother Joe, I've been thinking about you infeed clearance problem witb the new shed. I haven't said anything yet, because i wasn't sure. But if you shift the 405 to the right a little bit, every foot you get will give you more clearance. You could easily get another two feet, but the problem will be the discharge. You can only move the cleaner over a foot at most ftom what i see in the video. You may be able to cheat a little more by adjusting the discharge conveyor. Anyway, random thoughts from a random guy on the internet. Good luck!
Thanks Jasper. I had thought of that but figured it will just create another problem LOL
As soon as my saw starts acting up I change my bar and chain out.. we run many chains and 3 to 4 bars.. bars are not cheap so we dress the bar once it starts tracking on the wood .. not sure how you do it but I'll upload a video on how we fix the bar to minimize replacing it.. I'll shoot video and get it out by Wednesday if you care to see
That would be nice to see buddy. Is it with a flat file or with a special tool?
@@ohiowoodburner use a bench sander.. I'll show exactly how we do it by Wednesday..
Good video 👍 Nice splitting
Thanks Lyle
For the bar and chain the best bet, besides online, would be a saw dealer or shop. Box stores might have it, but dealers can help get it right. Due to the fact it seems your chain possibly is a semi chisel, if not full chisel, possibly with square cutters, take your business card in with you. Some (most) dealers won't sell aggressive cut chains without professional credentials or some background like you have. Happened to my grandpa years ago who was told by a buddy he couldn't get one. Liability and risk management for them due to kickback, which I totally understand. Though yours is going into a machine, they don't know the use intended. Otherwise I would say buy a 16" bar and chain set thats more standard and it likely works just fine anyway.
Man I would love to do all that oak that you have there. Maybe one day in the middle of the night I’ll sneak in and do it for ya lol.
Bring your Febreeze Frank
@@ohiowoodburner Nope don’t need that
Great video joe i hope the tornado did not get u great job
That was down south of us Bob. Thanks for thinking of us sir
I would put a header from corner to corner on your right side at about 8 ft. off the ground then cut those 2 steel studs down till you reach the top of the rails of the log table and weld in a sill then you would have about the same situation that you used to have it would create an opening in that wall so you could load long logs on the table again
Interesting thought. Thanks Stu
It appears that you have the pressures dialed in on the Japa. The chainsaw was going through at impressive speed.
Honestly it was a tad too aggressive. I had it dialed up to compensate for the worn out bar Harold
7:26 why does the saw struggle that often?
Ah, okay. Thanks for the explanation. :)
haha! Thanks Holzplatz. Once I get a new bar we should be back to speed buddy
@@ohiowoodburner
That’s great to hear. :)
Thanks for sharing! I'm sure you've said many times but just once more, how much in your trailer??? Nice work!!
This load was a little over 1/2 cord. Unmanaged piles of firewood always appear like there is more than there actually is.
How many hours has the 495 done great videos i cut a small amount of fier wood for my self hear in suffolk England
I think it is approaching 200.
Awesome Joe! I sure enjoy watching you bust up some firewood. Makes for a good start to the day!
Thanks Dave! Hope all is well down there
Hey 👋 Joe
Hey there
Great machine. But seems the saw is a little weak.
Quite the oposite. The saw is very strong. I am having trouble with a worn out bar right now. I have the pressure dialed up too high to compensate. Sorta out of whack but it will be dialed in when I can find a new bar
Good Morning!
What chains do you run on the Jopa's saw?
it is just standard Oregon chain.
Nice looking operation. You brought modernity to one of the oldest human effort…getting wood for fire.
I do believe Roger that 50 years from now this time will be the golden era of firewood machines. We are now starting to see some good competition and innovation
What's the length of the cut logs?
Firewood is cut at 16" . The logs on the table are around 12' -- 15' long
@@ohiowoodburner ok ty. Perfect length for my woodburner.
Looks like the nice of oak is growing on you,I don’t see any air fresheners 😂
had a nice wind carrying it away from me Bruce!
Gotcha, also thought maybe your sniffer was broken
Do they make a 405 perfect split on wheels? Or just the model you have? Have a great day,Joe!
Not on an axle. Only a stationary machine as far as I know

File the edges off the bar joe
That's what I was thinking. I will give it a try
It will definitely make a difference @@ohiowoodburner
IT IS AMAZING HOW FAST IT IS. JOE....YOU ARE LOOKING SLIM AND TRIM. NO NEED FOR THE GYM.
haha... not exactly true but I ill accept your compliment!
Good evening joe , see your running 405 japa you should do 3 log truck easy in day . The own thing with the little machine the bar heat up and start to bend . Can’t take the heat cutting the wood 🪵 joe . Why iiiii iiiii try them little gear ⚙️ in the wood 🪵 yard . Stock a lot of bars went running it hard all day from sun 🌞 up 🆙 and sun ☀️ down . Think 🤔 I’m lied 🤥 put guy on the tractor 🚜 feed you logs 🪵 all day with out stopping if you got logs 🪵 to go all day . Remember STICK on the ICE 🧊, SAW in the WOOD 🪵 and RUBBER on the road . 😊 THINK 🤔 SAFETY and always put SAFETY FIRST . Like 👍 my father would say carry on BOYS !! 😢
Stacking is still my bottle neck Len!!!!
Just have that one dressed instead of blowing a bunch of $$$$$$$$$$
Is that like a file you take to it?
@@ohiowoodburnernot pants and shirt🤣🤣 .Yes, filing. There's a guide so that both sides will be flat and even. I 4get you're shop guys name, Sam? He'd be able to do it. TCs Outdoors did a video w one he got from the big river Co
I'd rather watch a man use a home made splitter split for his own use.
Sounds like an easy problem to solve toby.
