I include a 1 CUFT bundle of kindling with each face cord purchase. Delivery, wheelbarrowing, stacking and kindling is included in the overall price. Customers in the Nashville area don't like being Nickeled and Dimed for firewood items/services. Have tried selling the kindling separately, but didn't get much action. The majority of my customers have gas lighting bars in their fireplaces, so kindling is more for the outdoor fire pit/Solo stove folks. When I see full kindling bags piling up at regular customer's homes, I don't leave a bag and give the next customer two. I also provide wood chips in free Costco boxes for those customers I know burn with Solo stoves. I fully agree with how you run OWB as a for profit business.

    Another fantastic value-adding innovation!
Just a thought: as an alternative to making a frame to hold down the paper stencil, how about a nice piece of sheet metal with the stencil cut into it?
There are lots of people out there doing decorative plasma/laser cutting, there must be someone near you.
A thin sheet of mild or stainless steel the same size as the bag with the logo cut into it would be a tool that'd ensure that the logo was perfectly placed on the bag every time, and would never wear out or get soggy and tear.

it's the good idea, but after a dozen or more sprays you're gonna get some drippy action on the metal which will goop onto the next bag. Solution: Have two or more of them made.

Hey Joe Dan Quartuccio here. Created a new channel as I’m going to starting creating some content fairly soon. The other day was out on a 1/2 cord delivery to a new customer in my area. About a day later I got a 5 star review. Yes the wood was dry, clean and ready to burn. However what really impressed was that the wood was neatly stacked in the bed of the truck and she saw exactly how much she was getting. Thank you gain for all the help you provide in these videos. It is truly making a huge difference.

Those are hard to find. So I drove 13 hours to get it. Slept in my truck a few hours, got it, brought it home and now I’m about to build a roadside stand like your video from Home Town Acres. I’m starting exclusively with bundles. Right now I’m going with bags. If customers prefer wrapped then I’ll invest in a wrapper. Hi Joe, I like the way you are thinking. Something as simple as kindling, what a great idea. Please keep in mind, that you don't want to over price yourself. Maby as a thought, to cover the cost of kindling. Make an adjustment in the price of the sale of the fire wood. And include a burlap bag of kindling. As well as selling kindling separately. This way your customers may feel like they are getting an extra. For the sale of fire wood, Joe Capo.

Hi Joe. Focusing on what the customer wants is very important. There has always been a philosophy in the firewood industry that higher production is the key to profitable success. I have found that providing a high quality, dry, clean product is more profitable than focusiing on selling higher quantities of average firewood. Kindling is a big seller for me. Unfortunately my process doesn't yield very much using the Super Split. Thanks Joe, another informative and fun video.

Like I said yesterday in your shorts video, its what separates you, just as you said. You take the time and really think things through.
In terms of your industry, I feel alot of factors undercut what people like you try to accomplish. Sure, there are ohio state firewood laws, but almost all private sellers bend or break those laws. In some ways it almost too unregulated; do whatever and sell however. Even my grandpa did it because it was his hobby. It hurts people like you at times is the problem.
You also spot-on with how to sell products. I think most of why is again, that a lot of seller's just don't all have your mindset when they sell. Its set it and forget it, with a drop box for payment. You're ahead of the game, along with a few other TH-camrs. Its not the norm where I live lol.

I can absolutely understand the "marketing" end of your business by painting your name, number and website on the bags, but to me that's entirely too time consuming to do that one at a time. To me, time is money, and I don't know that I see enough of a ROI in painting all of the bags. I think I'd buy the bags and fill them and leave it at that. But that's just me.

Joe, if you can brand and fill 15 bags in one hour and sell them for $7 each, then 7 * 15 = $105, minus $15 for the bags and $1 for the paint, leaves you with $89. Give Uncle Sam and the Buckeye State their cut, say $25, and let's assume the kindling goes on a regular delivery, so no extra time or expenses there. That leaves you with $64, or a profit of $4.26 per bundle. If you like what you are doing and are not in hurry, then you are turning trash into cash. Sounds like a win in my book.
