Glad to have found you. Is there work done - being done or going to be done on intergenerational relationships between women? Most of us would focus on the choices available to young adult women but we are also a child daughter sister mother aunt mother in law. We project onto the past questions that cannot be answered with great certainty but intelligent proposals can be put given what we know of ourselves - despite the patriarchal eye - given the great variety of cultures that we come from. As to the figurines - I don't really associate them with young fit mothers - the forms tend to remind me of the bodies of aged women. Perhaps objects that went with the hearth but small enough to be carried played with - reminders of ancestors.
