    You have to gear these systems the same way you would a brushed motor! Stick a 19 tooth pinion on there or smaller with a high KV motor. The motor and ESC will run ALLOT cooler trust me. I did the same thing with my 3900kv motor and 60 amp ESC. They both stay nice an cool now. I'm actually running stock gearing on my Bandit (21/83) and Slash (16/90). Both cars will do about 35mph on 2S and the motors get hot but I can leave my finger on the motor for about 6 seconds. The ESC only gets warm.

    I really enjoyed watching this video. I'm getting ready to install the same Motor and ESC into my 1/10 scale Sunfire and this gives me excellent insight into what I can expect. Most likely I will just run on a 2s and maybe just do a quick speed run on 3s. The GoolRC setup is dirt cheap so I think it will be a good upgrade from the stock brushed motor that came with the car. Thanks for sharing your experience with us and taking the time to do temp checks on the electronics. Awesome stuff 💯👍

    The fan probably cools that tiny heatsink in seconds by the time you take out the temp gun its already back below 70c.

    Definitely wouldn’t try 3S, Pretty sure mine is a 60amp though it looks Exactly the same. It made my Rustler Scream.... Motor gets hot pretty quick with stock gears & Really Big Back tires that give me wheelies on demand. It’s worked for me for at least 3 years now, no problems. I don’t drive long but do max it out.

      Hobby Adventures hi, do you think I’d have any problem running a 7.2v nimh battery with fires? I know that people say that the motors are good and the esc’s are bad, but they should be able to cope with nimh 7.2v?

    Would it be safe to assume that 3s would be less the problem than the pinion size?

    • @harro2395
      @harro2395  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Honestly I'm not entirely sure I run that pinion and motor on a 100amp ESC on 4s and they both never heat up I was trying to load the ESC up to make voltage spike above peak current it

    • @RCModSquad
      @RCModSquad 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hobby Adventures I was just thinking that for people running a more modest gear it might actually be a good combo as long as it’s not pushed to hard. Just a thought.
      Have a great day!

    • @harro2395
      @harro2395  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@RCModSquad yeah you are right honestly I have just been told to avoid them so I figured I'd just push it to the limits and see how it reacted 😁

    • @RCModSquad
      @RCModSquad 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hobby Adventures I totally get it. I’ve destroyed several ESC’s in cars running them on 3s even though I don’t think they were intended to run on 3s.
      I think this combo might be good in a smaller car or with slower gears but at 45a I don’t think you can lean on it very hard.
      I’m wondering if it might be good for something like the 959b, 979b or something in that class?
      I might pick that up and see. I have a coupleof three wire servo’s that would fit the 959b. I think that would be a fair test. If won’t hold up to that with stock gears then I’d certainly steer people away.
      Thanks for sharing and the idea. 💯👍🏻👍🏻

  • @radiocontrolled9181
    @radiocontrolled9181 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    4370kv is too much on 3s and that gearing. 2s is OK and fast enough. If you want to go 3s, either change to a lower gearing or to a lower kv motor like 3300kv. I use 3300kv motors and 2s which runs cool. Or 3s and limit the throttle digitally to 70% from transmitter. Fast enough to have great fun :-) and buggy still controllable.

  • @friendlyfire01
    @friendlyfire01 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I wonder why y'all have so many issues with your ESC's? On 4-in-1 drone ESC's we're getting 45A 6-cell ratings and they're generally pretty reliable even though we're running 4 at once! Perhaps it's to do with actually being in contact with a surface, so a rock, bump, or bad control input might cause a surge.
