Kyosho Turbo Raider - Surpass Hobby 9T 4370KV Brushless Part 1 of 2 Shake Down Run 36+ mph!

First run of my Raider with a Surpass Hobby 9 turn 4370 kv brushless setup with a 60 amp ESC. Upgraded to a 32 tooth idler gear and 17 tooth pinion gear on tall tires = 36+ mph... later I got 37+ on a fresh battery! Not bad for a 30+ year old vintage car! It is about as fast as my sons Traxxas Bandit VXL (when totally stock on 2s).

I am running these tires (the front ones) on the back of the car as they are a larger diameter making the car quicker than a traditional set: www.amazon.com... The problem is it also raised the center of gravity and makes the car tip easier. I may put it back on 2.2 inch rims and lose a few mph (which could be made up with an 18 tooth pinion gear).
I would not use this combo in a heavy car (like a Traxxas model) as it may get too hot but in something light like the Kyosho Rader it is excellent (so far). The 3900 KV combo could also be pretty nice if you want something a touch slower (but it was not available at the time I got mine for a good price). Many of these combos are sold with a 45 amp ESC and I would try to get the 60 amp if you can unless you are closer to 3000 kv.
Oh, and when I said the motor was 30 or 35 grams (about 1 ounce lighter than the brushed motor), I meant it was that much lighter (around 140 grams vs 170 or 175 (I can't remember which).
