  • In this video I am turning a Christmas ornaments.
Nothing new is this. Just my take on a type of Ornament that has been made many times before.
The Ornament is a hollowed-out globe with a inverted finial.
Can hang on a Christmas tree for ex. or as decorations around the house.
The Globe is from Lime (I think) and is appr. 5 cm in diam. and 4 cm in height.
The Finial is from Walnut and is 8 cm long and total heigh (length) of the ornament is 13.5 cm incl. the top.
The finished Ornament turned in this video weights less than 30 gr.

Thank you. Very delicate work. When you used the skew chisel it looked like it was at 10 o'clock on the piece you were turning. Is what I saw correct? If so does it catch easily/easier or does it make no difference?

Hi. Here I am using a square chisel and I would guess the edge is presented to the wood at close to 30 degr. from centreline of the wood. I usually try to keep the edge between 30 and 45 deg. to the wood. Depends on type of wood and the grind of the chisel. My experience is that outside of these degr. you can get into trouble. Thank you for the comment. Most appreciated.

Hi, Bara ég. Maybe not in the making but the design is simple and classical. Thank you for your comment. Appreciated.
