    Absolutely beautiful work again sir. I too have played with some of the iridescent paints but I use an air brush to blow it around but that string technique is very cool. Thanks again for showing us your awesome skills

    Mr. Arason, that's a beautiful piece. I've done string pulls on canvas before but it never occurred to me to try it on a bowl lid - a great idea. Also, here in the US, Behlen's makes a grain filler that I've used before with good results on oak and mahogany and I believe that it's still available from Woodcraft. Hope this helps.

      Thanks. It often works fine to implement good ideas from one media to another. Thank you for watching and commenting. Thanks for the information on the grain filler. Appreciated.

      Thanks. I cannot claim to be the author of this method. Nothing new under the sun! I saw this first demonstrated by Wayne the Woodturner “@WaynetheWoodturner». He has several fine videos about colouring. But thanks for the comment and thanks for watching. Appreciated.

    Great box Sigurdur, well shaped and great proportions. It all flows well through those curves and the string=pulled colours really make it stand out.
    Keep on turning.
    Cheers, Bluey 👍

    Very nice. I think what you're calling a "beading tool" is actually a bedan.

    • @SAr-Woodturning
      @SAr-Woodturning  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi David. Thanks. The tool I am calling a “beading” tool in the video has a 35 degr. bevel on both sides. It could also be called “parting tool”. It is my understanding that “bedan” tool has only bevel on one side.

    • @davidshaper5146
      @davidshaper5146 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You're probably right. In any event, your English is infinitely better than my Swedish. Most "beading tools" I've seen have a bead-shaped cut-out in them.

    • @SAr-Woodturning
      @SAr-Woodturning  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@davidshaper5146 Hi David. I think there is some confusion about the definition of beading tool. You are right that most of the tools today called Beading tools have a bead shaped groove in them. But I believe that is a relatively new development. Earlier, a tool similar to mine was used to shape beads. I am actually from Iceland but living in Denmark at the moment.
