    Highly informative, thank you. I'm having it done professionally next Wednesday and feel a lot better about it, considering a high mileage trip coming up on less than smooth tarmac. Top man!

    Awesome video mate. I just had a chip repair done and was concerned why it wasn't fully gone. Your video put my concern at ease by explaining that the chip doesn't fully go away but is a bigger improvement. Thanks mate 👊

      Glad you found the video helpful mate. Yeah the chip won't disappear - don't believe the hype in other YT videos haha.
      But I can confirm that the repair is strong. 2 years and no problems whatsoever 👍

    Looks good. Probably worth getting the experts in. Knows his stuff! Thanks for showing us how it should be done.

    Using the mirror to monitor the resin fill is clever. First time I've seen that.

      This guy had all the tricks. The company is actually quite large here in Australia. This and windscreen swaps is all they do.

    I just watched this after using a DIY kit on a similar star chip in my windscreen. I wanted to go to a Pro but I live out of town and figured by the time I could get it looked at the cracks would have expanded too much. So I reluctantly used a DIY kit called Ufixit and I was amazed at the result, it looks as good as your Pro guys repair, in fact it's harder to see than his, and the kit cost me $30. From now on I will always use a DIY kit.

      Nice one mate, good to know that the kits are capable of repairing this. Report back in 6 months and let us know if the resin hasn't gone yellow 👍

      @@Horus_Works will do, and I have to say, $120 to get a pro job and a lifetime warranty is well worth the extra $90. I was just desperate but was pleasantly surprised by the result I got.

    True, it won't completely make look new but it will stop it from spreading, like a scar that remains in your skin after damage it. Cheers

    The pre-chipping, brushing, vacuum is not in those "repair kits". It seems the prepping makes a huge difference.

      Yeah I've seen those repair kits too - I'll just leave it at that...

    went to Smith and Smith Glass to fix a chip. They warned me that 5% (5 out of 100) of repairs crack. It cracked! I just felt like OK, thats convenient for them. want to check with the insurance company and see if fixes by pros that crack are recorded statistically. EG, in my case, their is no mention they caused the issue. At the same time I dont want to get off side with them. Its now gone from a $100 repair to a $900 replacement, and thats just the glass.

      In my opinion it's always worth trying the repair first - much cheaper, and mine's been fine for 4 years now. Unless your insurance covers windscreen replacements that is - then you may as well just get what you paid for in your insurance.

    I've seen some terrible repairs done with DYI kits available

    • @Horus_Works
      @Horus_Works  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I couldn't agree more. In most DIY kits the glue used is not up to the job, and it turns yellow over time from sun damage.

    A poor repair which is visible and will only get worse. There are several systems available which will virtually make the damage disappear

    • @Horus_Works
      @Horus_Works  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure what makes you say that, considering the guy used professional-grade equipment? Anyway, I can say that two years after the repair, all is well, and the chip has not gotten any worse.

    • @K0RP53
      @K0RP53 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The degree of visibility relies on the type of break it is. The amount of nearly "invisible" repairs are ....inconsistent.

      Also, that device he's using in the video is honestly not as good as other devices. That one he's using has some limitations.
