As someone who has never seen the musical or read the novel, this video was full of shocking revelations. I didn't expect any of it, especially after watching the movie.
The book can definitely be a surprise for anyone unfamiliar with how loosely _Wicked_ is based on it and it is certainly not for children. I'm a massive Oz devotee and I hated it when I read it years ago. I thought it sucked all color and whimsy from Oz and it honestly kept me from becoming interested in the Broadway show until recently. I'm happy to say the musical adaptation meets it halfway between the _Wicked_ book and the 1939 film.
Added to the last comment. The 1939 movie is also not a faithful adaptation. They took a lot of liberties and made the story much more “children appropriate.”
The Return to Oz is not close to the books. No. I hated Return to Iz because it was so dark. I read the books as a child. If you take it in a dark light, yeah I could see where you’re coming from, but Baum wrote the series as a political allegory.
This is supposed to be a prequel to the Wizard of Oz. If anybody seen the play wicked, it has nothing to do with anything bad you see the wicked witch evolving and trying to be a better person. There was nothing ever wrong with the Wizard of Oz itself. I think people are just taking this a little bit to the extreme and have to go by one’s conscious, especially as a Christian Pray about it God will lead you.
For those disappointed with the movie adaptation of the musical, imagine how those who originally read the novel felt-dramatically disappointed with how the musical adapted the story. Lol
ROTFL. I don't think anyone cares. The movie is breaking boxoffice records in the U.S. and worldwide. The overwhelming majority of people who've seen it, love it. Yes, the book is quite different from the musical. The 1939 MGM Wizard of Oz was also very different from the original Baum novel.
The first thing that I did after getting home from "Wicked" was to reserve the audiobook. I never liked Glinda in the 1939 version of "The Wizard of Oz". She was too sugary sweet in what felt like a fake way. Granted, I was about 8 when I first saw it.
We're focusing on singing parts but there are many parts has been exposed to the part 1 has been covered but if you notice its all clues part 2 explains it from start to middle to the end several clues has been exposes 🤧🤧🤧
I really can't believe 😒that there are two parts of Wicked movies instead of doing whole thing and I'm very annoyed that we will have to wait for next year November released of the second part of Wicked to come out so we can see the rest o the version.
Sucks we have to wait, but given the first part is 2 hours and 40 minutes long on its own they would have had to choose between cutting out important scenes or having a 7 hour long film 🤧 (and of course out of all of those choices the 2 parter is going to give the studio more money)
Do we really need to give the religious zealots who insisted the Harry Potter books were Satanic any more reason to fling Holy Water at _Wicked,_ hoping it'll melt?
Yippee-ki-yay movie lovers! Here's the new video about Wicked Part 2 just uploaded! 😀► th-cam.com/video/rN0MT8LyQj0/w-d-xo.html
This is amazing
This is wonderful

Just like Disney adaptations were all from horror stories…interesting
So technically this was a horror novel turned into a family novel
More a political thriller.
Yes and modern trash for people to like for money. :) ¯\_( ͠° ͟ʖ °͠ )_/¯
The Oz books are pretty wild and dark.
The movie Return to Oz is about as close to the source books as we get
You're absolutely right. I never cease to enjoy countering any complaints or arguments with that fact.
One of the best movies I have seen. It’s a must see and that I wish the movies would be a bit more darker and not so glitter and whatnot

As a horror movie fan, I would be much more interested in an adaptation of the McGuire novel
Same here.
i’m so glad you’re back, i hope you’re feeling better 🫶🏼
Thank you so much for your kind words

Thank you. You have confirmed my suspicions that this story is just as implied. Wicked, 7:51 and book and movie should be avoided completely.
Amazing work
This is wonderful
Thank you!
Jesus Christ 😳 the books sound absolutely morbid
So much potential to take risks as in the wicked novels, an antagonist with songs

Actually I loved the musical adaption.
@@kindnessfirst9670I did also!
What I expected: political thriller.
What I got: Bland (literal) high-school drama.
@@arc7375you survived. Stop trolling

This is terrifying 😟
The book is truly revolting. It's not even well written. How something so wonderful came from something so nasty I'll never know.
I guess you can say it’s a Grimm fairytale
Indeed, well spotted!
@@FlicksAndTheCityi know it’s clever
This is enchanting

Great job
Thank you for this helpful video. It confirms what I already suspected. I wouldn’t enjoy the book.
Beautiful video
This is great

how i wish wicked part two will be an r rated horror film :))
I hate how they sort of ruin The Wizard of Oz.
This is nice
Read this novel 15 years ago. It was pretty violent. The musical and movie do not resemble the book
This is cool
Great video, but I wish y’all wouldn’t use AI images 😢
Cobra kai video coming?
Wow that’s disgusting.
Ok but when do they sing for good?????
You are a very special
I think with the film I would be ok if the witch of the west didn’t get a happy ending. Anyone else?
They won’t change that ending at all, why on earth would they change the end when they’re set on making the 2 faithful adaptations
ew whats with all the ai art
liquiFIED

very true i was so disappointed.. But to be optimistic, at least we get to be excited that there is more movie to watch next year!
What a terrible story
And yet you’re still here
The Wicked story doesn't seem to tie in very well to the Wizard of Oz. It comes off like CW "nobody is truly evil" fan-fiction BS.
Do we really need to give the religious zealots who insisted the Harry Potter books were Satanic any more reason to fling Holy Water at _Wicked,_ hoping it'll melt?
Congratulations, no one was talking about religion
It’s not horror it’s a kids movie from 1939 that teaches you to not think somewhere is better than home.
Who the fk is actually going to go see this dumpster fire of a movie? LMFAO, come on, you guys.😂
According to the box office returns a lot of people
Who clicks on videos on stuff people don’t like just to complain
Only g🅰️y bois and bipolar women watch these types of movies and there's plenty of those running around these days.
Boring I didn’t like it
First
Thanks for watching early!
Do better research.
Read all 4 book though the movie was trash
This is fantastic
