    Nice air filter. A cool idea I had was to cut a clear piece of plexiglass for the airbox cover so you can see through it.

    Regardless of the hp/mpg gain debate. I must give you credit on one hell of a good solder/shrink tubing job. Most would just twist together and be done or worse.. wire nut it.

      @@AnthonyJ350 question: I got the model 12540 for my 2015 Xterra; it has the tube for the ram air box but no ram air box. I saw it on your video and in other places as an option, but they don't seem to offer as one. Any ideas on that?

    Just put the Volant on my 2010, so far so good but ... what did you do with the extra hose coming off the stock intake box? The vid shows you removing it and then nothing. The PCV recirc hose is an obvious reconnect but there is the extra hose that runs down and the Volant box has no connection for it. I am unsure what it even does.

    I have an '07 Xterra and the engine is great. What these trucks could really use is a programmer or the Pedal Commander for the electronic throttle. For some reason Nissan has delay programmed into the pedal up to a certain or some shit. After talking to other Xterra owners that have either the Pedal Commander or a programmer, they say that throttle response is WAAY better. Better to the point where it will spin the tires when you romp down on it from a dead stop. When I hammer it from a dead sop now the delay is frustrating to say the least. I say OR programmer because some programmers have the ability to also reprogram the pedal.

    • @AnthonyJ350
      @AnthonyJ350  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It will adjust a bit, but your truck really really benefit from an UPrev tune. I have a 350Z and after dyno tuning, the car had more power and was smoother.

    • @barilles7510
      @barilles7510 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      BAMAZ#1 I had mine retuned and remapped after the installation because the airflow will be much bigger than it was before so when you have too much air in the intake system your system will run Lean that's where the stupid PO codes will pop out and you don't want that. I got mine remapped, retuned/recalibrated, and I replaced the Stock OEM Nissan Fuel Injector with another Nissan High pressure flow racing fuel injectors on all 6 cylinder, then I got a much better Spark plugs that emitts more bigger Sparks. Besides that I got a Banks Monster power Exhaust a great combination and pair with the Volant Cold Air Intake, after the install and ECM Remapping and Calibrations the truck gained 78HP and 82lbs/ft of Torque on the Dyno. Because I live in Texas State, and the Smog check is not much an issue here unlike Commiefornia I got rid of the Catalytic converter, then the number went up little bit making a gain of 89HP and 86lbs/ft of Torque, no force induction system like turbo or supercharger the engine is still Naturally Aspirated V6 VQ-40. And I kept the Truck on standard Stock OEM Height, also kept the stock OEM tires which is the Hankook dyna pro ATM RF-10 which is the Lightest All terrain all season tire among the others. BFG KO2 tires and and Goodyear Wrangler duratrac are one of the heaviest Truck tires in the market, heaviest and slow, and you didn't want that. I didn't want lifted either because it will slow down the truck and perhaps the mods the I did will be for nothing.

I don't know if giving the intake manifold it any more beneficial or if it actually helps spin the air, yet I keep buying them... They look cool and some make a neat whistling sound, I can tell you that much, and I feel good when it's installed.
      I don't use the bluetooth ones. I used this one to solve a vacuum leak on my 350Z. I installed an oil catch can and would throw a code after like 30 miles. One of the threads wasn't sealing and I was able to isolate the problem by looking at the short term and long term fuel trims.

    What made you pick the Volant cool air intake over the K&N cool air intake?

    • @AnthonyJ350
      @AnthonyJ350  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The box that isolates the filter element from the engine bay and the ducting for it.

    • @NKaumans
      @NKaumans 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Bingo... The Airaid, and K and N systems draw the intake air from inside the engine bay which is counter productive for a cold air intake system. I tested the Airraid system vs stock on my truck and read the intake temperatures via the OBD interface via Bluetooth at idle. With Airaid intake temperatures were 181 degrees while the factory box was 141. In addition to running hotter than also are more restrictive. While most conical filters are bigger than the OEMs filter element in the case with Nissans 4.0 L its the other way around. There is more filter media than K and Ns open conical element. The only benefit in using K and N is that your location of your intake is risen preventing you from sucking up water in your intake while doing water crossings.

      @ahernandezut 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      By watching your video and looking at how my xterra is set up I figured I had to do the same. When I moved the horn just to check if the air box would fit, to my surprise it didn't. I called auto anything and we did a conference call with Volant tech support. They asked for my VIN they told me even though I have a '07 Xterra its considered a 2nd generation so in reality the part I needed is for a '08. Anyway just figured I'd post this long comment in case anyone was in a similar situation as me. I wish auto anything would have asked for my VIN from the beginning, now I have to send my air intake, and two magna flow cats back since neither of them fit. The only thing that worked for my xterra was the magna flow cat back exhaust that I ordered. Thanks for your help AnthonyJ350

    • @AnthonyJ350
      @AnthonyJ350  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Because the older style had a more sealed intake tube into the air box, but it required relocating some factory parts (shown in the video). If you don't want to do any modifications just order for your year.

    • @TheDevonParker
      @TheDevonParker 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      The VQ40DE has port injection. It was never made with direct injection, I'm not sure where you read that. The DE in the engine code denotes
      D: Dual Overhead Cams
      E: Electronic Fuel Injection
      Nissan uses DD at the end of their engine codes when they have direct injection.
      For example, the engine in the Nissan Juke is the MR16DDT which breaks down into:
      MR: Engine family
      16: 1.6 liter
      DD: Dual overhead cams, direct injection
      T: Turbo.

    • @MavHunter20XX
      @MavHunter20XX 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** There I go not reading things carefully. I read direct ignition and understood it as direct injection, yes not the same thing, unless its diesel. My apologies.

    • @AnthonyJ350
      @AnthonyJ350  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good question. Potentially yes this will add power, but also factor you have to combine mods to get more of an effect i.e. add exhaust. So it depends what do you want to get out of your truck and how much do you want to spend for the effect?

    NONE of these videos really crunch the BEFORE and AFTER numbers on this to justify spending the $250.00-$350.00 on a aftermarket air intake system.
