    Mercedes has always had the most luxurious cars and the reputation to delivering quality and performance. The S class has been desired by many and usually only attainable by people with wealth. The options and features that were provided on these vehicles were in a class all by itself.
    The GR Auto Gallery is pleased to present this 1999 Mercedes-Benz S600 for purchase. This is one of only 139 total S600 cars to be produced in 1999 for the entire world. Only 14 were believed to be brought to the US dealerships for the American market. This is a very rare car and one that has tremendous upside in the future markets. The previous seller of this Mercedes kept everything very clean and tidy. Oil changes were regularly done, along with replacing the LED lighting, and brakes as well. The luxury amenities that this Mercedes provides include the headlight wipers, tinted windows, updated radio with Pioneer Stereo System, heated leather seats, reclining seats all around, a Mercedes issued first aid kit, an after-market USB port, a power extension cord, glovebox locks, a flawless sunroof and many more options. The interior of this is very clean and tidy. The wood marbled trim draws an eye to the detail that Mercedes is known for.
    Purchased new out of Texas in 1998 this vehicle still has a long life ahead. The car is in great shape inside and out and all features seem to be working properly. Performance numbers are one thing that most owners enjoyed while sitting in the back seat where there is plenty of room and gadgets to play with. The black paint on this is nearly perfect and the grill demands attention. This Mercedes S600 is a must have.

    My parents bought one of these brand-new in 1978 & still use it for road trips to this day. Only reached 100,000 miles last year & doesn't smoke, transmission doesn't slip & starts first turn of the key, every time. It cruises on the interstate 75-80 mph without breathing hard. Just an awesome example of old-school American luxury.

    I can still remember the smell of those cars and the glorious, magnificent gleaming wood and velvet interiors and those SEATS that were to DIE FOR!!! Never again in America will we have such luxury. So, I ask, Have we really gone forward or backward?? I say we are back in the Stone Age as far as comfort and luxury goes today.

    I've always been a devoted Cadillac junkie, probably because I grew up with them and most probably because I learned to drive in my father's 1978 Fleetwood and my mothers 1977 Seville. In fact, I cannot remember ever riding in a Lincoln Town Car, let alone ever driving one. However, seeing this remarkably well preserved pristine Town Car, with that virtually flawless paint and chrome, I have done the unspeakable. I actually said to myself, If the price were right, I would buy that classic Town Car and drive it around. I don't believe I said that out loud.

    • @carlm8821
      @carlm8821 6 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      eldorado62 yes, today’s cars totally suck, and nobody even notices that the industry is just selling technology, pretty (if you want to call it that) bodies and a few decent features and maybe a set of cool wheels, only if you’re willing to shell out a few extra grand to get them with a ‘so called’ package deal. Case and point, attended last few years new car shows and REALLY wasn’t impressed with anything except the full size trucks. No matter if it’s a Nissan, Chevy, Acura, Dodge, the materials are cheap, hard plastics, lousy seating materials, and nothing special as these now golden classics were and are today!

    these older luxury cars had so much details to them both inside and outside! Look at one of the door panels and how many layers or parts its constructed out of. Todays cars have a main door panel structure usually some type of plastic, a separate armrest (sometimes) a switch bezel and maybe a soft cloth or insert some where and thats it! No detail or interest! Same with the outside. Look at all that trim and all the little pieces that make up the whole! THEN there's the ride ..... oh how smooth and quiet these cars were! I just wrote on a 2010 Mercedes yesterday and it was just a car. You feel the bumps, you hear the engine, interior quality was just OK nothing left me like WOW what a car. Gas MPG? Who cares these werent built for that! Todays cars mostly don't get more then 16-20 city or much over 22 on the HWY so?? These were great cars for what they were, class, style, ride comfort, and elegance. Not for cutting corners, 1/4 times, or 0-60. Just to get you where your going in comfort and serenity! :)

    Stunning automobile! This is when luxury cars were all about luxury. The dealer plaque in the back is the only flaw. I've had many Lincolns in my day and I loved all of them. I'd drive one today, if gas wasn't $3.75 a gallon and my garage would hold it lol.

  • @carlm8821

    What an absolutely stunning classic ALL AMERICAN MADE true luxury car from a decade that all too many like to pretend or think never existed. I understand times and trends change and evolve, but never before or since has there been such great attention to fine details with elaborate and ornate chrome trim, both inside and out, hundreds of paint color combinations and choices not to mention coordinating interiors in various fabrics and styles as well as vinyl top options. Could make ordering one of these beauties great for anyone NOT wanting a car that looks just like everyone else’s. Oh yeah, my luxury land yacht is a ‘76 Bonneville Brougham 4dr HT and beginning restoration this time next year sometime. If I don’t restore, will probably trade for a ‘75 Olds 98 Regency.....even more luxurious!

Leather, bucket seats, for four mind you(and that’s super luxury with most industries), super low rooflines, now hatchback-looking designs...UGH, hard and firm suspensions, engine sounds, minimal sound deadeners and can just go on. Cars from this time were designed with "appointments" that had style, elegance and a sense of luxury that made you feel special when you got behind the wheel or even climbed in as a passenger. Plastic hunks today have no such class. They're just made to appear modern, futuristic and dazzle you with lots of fancy displays or lights, that give you no real pride in ownership.

    Had a 77 Grand Marquis two door hardtop, ....what a sled. Had a 460 four barrel carb that was pretty thirsty, but I loved that car to death.

    During the late 1970s, this car was the equivalent of today's Escalade. Of course back then, car makers actually made LUXURY cars, instead of the "luxury sport" cars we have today that focus primarily on performance, cornering, tight steering and body roll.

    I have a '77 Town Coupe that I purchased a few years ago. A cream yellow exterior with matching leather interior. It was originally sold in southern California so it had the 400 cubic inch engine as Ford was unable to meet the emission standards for a 460 cubic inch engine in California at that time. However, the engine is quite ample to power the car. Mine with only 64,000 miles and with no rust is a beauty to behold, all 20 feet in length of it. And, yes it does float down the highway. Always a concern when parking as it is guiding it into a space like a ship. (A good reason why they called them, "Land Yachts".

    After watching this video & reading the comments, yes there was a time when you had a land yacht of a car that was a blast to drive & did it with style and comfort. Today's stuff is all about technology but no style!! Lincoln's of the seventies, what a luxury car SHOULD BE!!!! Anything big from the past is what a car WAS about!! Now it's an era gone bye bye!!!!
