I grew up trying to be as tough as I could possibly be, then one day I realised I was just deeply insecure and was over compensating for being emotionally sensitive. After making this self realization my life has been much easier and happier. In not accepting our own weaknesses we make ourselves even weaker.
I guess I always assumed these actors playing cool/tough guys were actually admirable-that emulating them was the right way to live. Good on you for figuring that out for yourself!
Every time I hear the phrase "bad ass", I'm reminded of the Americans who visit Japan and get Kanji tattoos. The closest the artists can translate "bad ass" into Japanese is "rotten fart", so that's what many of those tattoos literally say.
That's hilarious! I kinda like the word in English though, it has a good ring to it "badass" sort of rhymes with itself, if it doesn't translate well that's all the more reason to keep it in English. I wouldn't get a tattoo of it though, reminds me of Tywin Lannister "Any man who must say 'I am (badass)' is no true (badass)."
Really a thought provoking video. Nobody is a super fun and gun action film with addition of good old songs which makes it even more enjoyable. If you watch the movie carefully the songs that are playing, actually reflects the character and actions of Hutch Mansell. I absolutely loved the film and your video. Would love to hear your take on Denzel Washington's The Equalizer.
I love The Equalizer! One of my favourite action franchises. My first take on the original film was that it was like Taxi Driver in a less _morally ambiguous_ Universe like where heroes can just be heroes without the baggage. The 1985 TV Series was set in NY and I assume it had a similar vibe to Taxi Driver. Heck in The Equalizer 2 they literally had him as a cab driver 😅 There could be a video in this even, definitely as a springboard to talk about deep themes like I did in this one, but now I'll have to re-watch the films and maybe check out the new TV Series as well 🤔 Thank you for the feedback and the suggestion!

I'll push it even further and say that, Nobody is about an accountant daydreaming after the robbery of what he would have done if capable. We see what he does everyday, his routine, he continues to do that but now we see the daydreaming he does while he's at his boring job. Instead of the ''wimp'' he is, he would finally have the respect of his wife, kids and his dad. He would stand up to his father and brother in law and so on.
Just popping by to say that you deserved some likes and a follow. Don't give up and keep producing great content that you enjoy making. F**k the algorithms and keep on trucking (I'm mainly saying this to myself by writing this comment, haha 😅)
This was interesting too~ Loving these Video Essays. I would suggest movies most people love and enjoy , and simply break them down. Don't think it even needs to be that deep like cast away - although that was extremely profound. Brave heart , or shawshanks , whatever really. You got a good voice, and the editing/memes are what makes your video very watchable. Just saying bro, keep at it!

That's good advice and very encouraging, hopefully when I do run out of ideas for deeper essays I'll have gained enough subscribers who find my opinions and memes entertaining enough that I can do that without getting buried again, I'm already kinda testing this with my 'Film Theory Shorts' which I really enjoy making. John Wayne and McQueen part stands out from the most youtube videos: instead of author subjective opinion (who the hell have time to look through dozen of interviews and make a clip from it) - made it Exceptional to me. Subscribed to channel and waiting for new videos.

As much as I dislike the guy Bullitt (1968) is a great film and an easy recommendation (especially for car guys). The Getaway (1972) is also pretty good.

I had to dig for a few more minutes and work to find your channel. It's so stupid. I remember when YT wasn't like this. Anyway, I'll be watching for your future uploads, I appreciate the amount of easter eggs you seem to include in your production. Your content is well made and makes you think. No way you stay sitting at 1k subs for long.

I don't know what to say 😶🌫 Yeah YT is definitely shifting toward "you watch what we show you" instead of encouraging people to navigate things for themselves. I use Reddit as well because on there you put your thing in the relevant place and people will see and judge it; if it does well it has its day in the Sun and then more or less gets archived. I like both systems to be fair but there are merits and drawbacks with either. 😬

Honestly, I've learned over the years to never meet any of the actor types at the various cons I go to, and to just enjoy the work.
