    I was interested in watching you put your pattern together. I think I will adopt your method of sticking the top row together, which I do, but then you trim the bottom edges in one go, which makes perfect sense!! Whereas I was trimming each page individually before sticking together...Lawd! I'm just about to print out a stack of patterns so this came just in time! Your dress is beautiful and yes, very you, based on your previous makes. I love this style on everyone else, but for myself I prefer a lower neckline and non-puffy sleeves so as not to make my bust look any bigger than it already does. ;)

      Ah well I'm glad it helped haha! I've tried all ways of doing it to find the quickest to be honest... Thanks so much I'm glad you like the dress. Yes I think it's personal preference isn't it :). Thanks so much for watching x

    loved the design of the dress and fabric they look gorgeous together.I love that you just enjoy your sewing rather than bulk making and speed bothering you.There are different inexpensive tools for threading your drawstring through the casing that are much better than a safety pin.I like the tweezer style bodkin needle.On amazon you can buy a set of different type of turners for £7-99 so you can see what you like best.

      Thank you! Oh that sounds interesting thank you I’ll have a look at those. I don’t know what it had got stuck on it must have been one of the seams of the pockets. Xx

    Love the dress, especially the neck casing and the flutter cap sleeve details. Your fabric is gorgeous. I was thinking a short sleeve version would be lovely. For when the weather warms up. Hopefully soon! I think we will all be in shock when it does warm up and decide we have no spring/summer clothes to wear and be making like mad 😂🌞🌞

      Thank you!! Yes I know it’s hard to think about wearing summer clothes at the moment isn’t it! I’d really like to try one without sleeves I think. Thank you for watching xx

    You can get an A0 cuttng mat. I butt up cuttng mats, it works fine. Sometimes you may need to snip where the joins are but hugelly better then moving part cut pieces especially with slippery fabrcs.

    Thx for doing your sew a long. I made a Davenport a few weeks ago in a viscose linen. I loved it so much I was planning to make a drapier version in viscose and was wondering what the sleeve ruffles would look like. I was also considering doing a shorter sleeve version. Yours is beautiful and fabric is so pretty. ❤️

    • @SecretLifeOfASeamstress
      @SecretLifeOfASeamstress  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ah I bet a viscose linen is lovely! I was thinking about using that type of fabric for my next one ;) I do think the ruffles go a bit unnoticed in this fabric but that’s ok! Thank you for watching xx

    I start with cutting my patterns on the biggest size so I have smaller pieces to match. I use sticky tape on one side and glue on the other side. But just like you are saying it is a mammoth task to fulfill.

    • @SecretLifeOfASeamstress
      @SecretLifeOfASeamstress  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you that's helpful to know! It is a task isn't it, I keep thinking about using a copyshop but I'm too impatient to wait haha x

    Thank you for sharing this with us. It is a beautiful dress and the fabric is lovely amd suits you. 😊 Are there other options with the pattern such as short sleeves or would you just hack the pattern yourself?

    • @SecretLifeOfASeamstress
      @SecretLifeOfASeamstress  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you I’m glad you enjoyed it. There aren’t any options in the pattern but I’ve seen a few versions where people have bias bound the armhole. I would probably just shorten the sleeve length a little by taking out some of the middle to create the short sleeve :) x

  • @user-fc3sx2cw5x
    @user-fc3sx2cw5x 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Did you overlock the sleeves after you attached them to the armhole at 13:22? Also, apart from the neck casing, what are the other places where you had to use the overlocker in this pattern?

    • @SecretLifeOfASeamstress
      @SecretLifeOfASeamstress  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I did overlock them, I also overlocked the frill to the skirt and the pocket edges inside - I hope that helps x

    Have you seen those children's puzzle playmates that you put together I wondered if they would be any good for cutting out patterns

    • @SecretLifeOfASeamstress
      @SecretLifeOfASeamstress  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh yes I know what you mean I know people use those for blocking knitting because it’s easy to pin into. For cutting I wonder if they would be a bit too spongey because the cutting mats are self healing so you don’t have all the cut dents. Might be something to try though thanks :) xx

    Beautiful dress and fabric. What kind of foot did you use on your sewing machine? Is it a walking foot?

    • @SecretLifeOfASeamstress
