Thanks for the tips, especially how the plate hole may be too small... I have a Singer 241-3 (an older 13) that I bought for $100 with table and motor. Needed adjustment, wouldn't sew right. Reset all adjustments (bobbin shuttle was out of time) and it sews great. It compliments my Consew 206RB-5 walking foot. I mainly sew heavy nylon webbing and cordura fabric, and your series on the Singer 241-12 has helped me a lot. One thing I added, since this machine is a PUMP oil system and the cotton wick inside the head, going up into the pan above the needle and presser bar stops flowing as it should, I drilled a hole in the front of the head that allows me to stick an oil tube in the hole and add oil to that pan, which then wicks down to the moving stitch internals in the head...

Si va a coser materiales muy gruesos entonces debe poner un peine con dientes grandes para que jale/arrastre el material. La banda de goma puede estar demasiado ajustada/templada, hay que aflojar un poco En el min 4.52 podemos ver en la parte de arriba el tornillo regulador del motor con sus dos tuercas, una abajo y la otra arriba que es la contratuerca. Afloje un poco la contratuerca y enrosque la tuerca inferior. I just bought a Singer 241-13 and found your videos on modications to be very helpful. I have changed the pulley on the motor out and have adjusted the food pedal connecting rods. The machine speed is slower but haven't found the sweet spot yet and foot pedal control adjustment. should the connecting rods be lenghted or shortened, I have tried both. Tom

I have a 251-21 that ive used for 5 years , then moved and now can't find my manual and need to clean and oil it, I had bought several packs of the correct needles, and changed it today, The bottom of top stitch is loose about every 1-15 stitches maybe 3-4 in a row. Estimada Maria Elena, La demostración que hago con la máquina del video es en vinil para carro, el cual es un material sintético con cierta resistencia. Me pude dar cuenta al ver la portada de su página que Ud. trabaja con materiales sintéticos también y de verdad son bien delicados. Va estar muy difícil que los dientes metálicos de arrastre no pelen o raspen este material. Una solución sería el uso de dientes de arrastre de material plástico (teflón), de igual modo el pié de presión de este material. Se mueve al unísono con los dientes del peine arrastrando el material limpiamente hácia atrás, mientras la pata pequeña sube y baja al ritmo que se va cosiendo. It does not affect...but if I'm going to continuoulsy sew 'clothes' with a thin needle and thread, then it would be necessary to change the 'needle plate' for another with a 'small little hole in the plate' 2. Of course, there's a limit...if too much we could weaken the little steel walls...I think to widen the opening for a 140-22 is enough .3. 140 measure is for the Metric or European system and 24 is for the English or Singer system. Remind you that this procedure is just in case we cannot afford a heavy duty walking foot sewing machine to do upholstery. I we have some money it is better to buy the appropriate machine and not be doing these tricks.

I have now bought a Singer 331k5 walking foot machine, which I was told sews leather, (it was very hard to find info on this machine). Though after I bought it I found a site online saying it was made for light leatherwork, and 'fabric of uneven thickness". At least it is a leather machine! Would I be able to make these adjustments on it? Would any other industrial Singer bigger feed dogs/plate fit it? (I have ordered the tiny pulley to slow it down, and plan to sew as slowly as possible for accuracy, and to take strain off both of us, to reupholster just one small car in leather). You have got a good Singer, walking foot sewing machine. It's better than the simple one Singer I show in the video which was designed to sew fabric and very light leathers.

Está un poco complicado. Tendría que cambiar el mecanismo excentrico que regula la puntada y le saldría mas caro que la máquina. Old upholsterers used to work with cloth/shoemaking sewing machines (simple transportation sewing machines). The ideal sewing machine to do upholstery (furniture, cars, etc.) is an industrial, triple transportation sewing machine(walking feet)..it means while the small foot is pressing the material down the bigger foot is up, but immediately goes downwards to press the material again...it's also called 'alternating feet' which do not let wrinkles on the material while sewing. You could start with a used machine, but if it is affordable for you a new one would be better. pfaff 145, 1245, Adler, Juki lu563, Consew, Singer, etc.

Yes, it still works with thin needles. The adapting did not affect the shuttle. I've taught these 'tricks', as a last option, in case of not having the resources to buy an an upholstery machine. I'd prefer to buy an appropriate sewing machine to do upholstery.
I have a singer 241-12 and it's stuck at zero stitch length. the plunger will lower when I turn the wheel but then it locks and I can't adjust the length. Any ideas?
@@michele24k First, I want to apologize with Panda Studios because there is no answer. I did not see this question, I am very sorry. Regarding the issue, it happens every off and on. The solution is carefully force the big wheel to move back and forth. The first idea is while another person is plunging the button the other one is forcing the big pulley forwards and backwards. In the worst case scenario it would be necessary the use of grip locking pliers to hold the wheel to make it move forwards or backwards (protect the wheel with a thick cloth to avoid marking dents). TIP: If the machine is sewing long stitches and I want shorter ones, then I should force the big wheel backwards. If the machine is doing short stitches and I want longer stitches it means I should force the wheel to the front.
it seems as if the problem is with the clamp on the needle bar is there a way to replace that clamp the hole is not big enough for the needle to insert through that crap

A lo mejor necesita una aguja mas gruesa para coser materiales gruesos. Al penetrar el material la aguja se inclina y roza con algún borde que puede ser del pié de presión o la placa de la aguja.
hello I have a quick question I own a singer 241-12 and I would like to know if am able to set this machine to give me 4 or 5 stitches per inch is just that the lowest am able to go is 8 &1/2 I was wondering if there is any adjustments I can do to get it to what I want
+gerson hernandez The 'maximum stitch length' for this machine is of 4.6 mm=3/16" of an inch, and it give us approx. 5 stitches per inch (1/16" is missing to complete the inch). There is an eccentric mechanism that causes the stitch lenght...the only way to gain more stitch length would be altering this mechanism and make it bigger....this task includes time and money, perhaps more expensive than the machine. If your machine does not have this maximum stitch length, so, you have to set it up from the botton on top right side:

Si se puede regresar a su forma original. Para ropa tiene que llever un peine de dientes finos si la ropa es delgada. Dientes un poco mas grueso si vamos a coser tela mas gruesa. Una aguja delgada también. Tiene que volver a regular la altura de la barra que tiene la rodaja y ahora tendrá el nuevo pie de presión plano que es mas bajo. Estos videos pueden ayudar. Hay un tornillito que se afloja con el desarmador plano. I don't have at hand the number, sorry. What I did is just took the 'needle plate' and 'feed dog' to a local supplier and requested same plate but with a bigger hole in the center and a feed dog with bigger teeth.
I found a heavy duty feed dog on eBay. Thanks for the quick response. I inherited several sewing machines from my grandfather and have been learning to sew. I enjoy your videos. I have learned so much. Keep it up. I look forward to seeing your next video.
I used to do upholstery (car interior) in the past with regular sewing machines like this one of the video. I am only a simple car upholsterer. I do not have this machine anymore. I sold it to an artisan that makes bags in leather and vinyl.

Si Ud. observa cuidadosamente el video podrá darse cuenta que se mostraron tres medidas de aguja. La primera es la 110 ó 18 que es con la que esta máquina debe coser en forma normal. Después de hacer los ajustes la hacemos coser con una aguja número 140 ó 22 y al final una mas gruesa que es la 180 ó 24.

No tengo una idea exacta, disculpe. Pero puedo sugerirle que acuda a un taller donde reparan las máquinas de coser. Estos técnicos nos pueden orientar con mas exactitud. Ellos saben donde venden los motores para máquina de coser y los repuestos. Si su motor está en buen estado y solo requiere arreglar o cambiar una pieza, hay lugares dedicados solamente al arreglo de motores especialmente.

Para regular el largo de la puntada, tenemos que liberar el mecanismo al presionar el botón, al mismo tiempó que la rueda/volante se mueve con la mano hácia adelante. min 16:33 2. El mecanismo es liberado cuando Ud. sienta en su dedo que el botón se hunde un poco. min16:40 3. Ahora ya tenemos desenclochado/liberado el mecanismo y este tiene un movimiento parcial que mueve solo los dientes de arrastre para regular el largo de la puntada. min 16:49 4. Si movemos el volante completamente hácia atrás, llega al ´punto cero' es decir la pieza de los dientes de arrastre tienen un movimiento de cero. min 17:13 5. Si queremos una puntada corta hay que poner el dedo en el botón, mover el volante poco a poco hácia adelante, esperar que se hunda el botón y dar vuelta a la rueda calculando que sea poco y nos dará una puntada pequeña...si quiere la puntada máxima, entonces tiene que seguir girando un poco mas la rueda hasta que tope...el botón regresa a su posición y ya está regulado la puntada. min17:21 6. Como pudimos ver el volante de la máquina se puede mover hácia adelante o hácia atrás...aveces para que afloje o se libere se le mueve un poquito en vaiven hasta que se sienta que el botón se hunde. Abrevbiando: Si tu máquina está en este momento con puntada larga y deseo acortar la puntada, entonces el proceso es: primero mover para adelante la rueda mientras se presiona con el dedo el botón, seguir lentamente moviendo la rueda hasta que se hunda. El siguiente paso sería para acortar la puntada, entonces tiene que ser para atrás...aveces está un poco duro, pero hay que forzar hasta que afloje el volante y darle para atrá lentamente..no hasta el tope, porque queda en cero. Si tu máquina es otra envíame unas fotos para ver o apunta bien el modelo para buscar en internet.
Aveces sucede que se traba el boton que regula la puntada y no podemos dar vuelta manualmente el volante/polea de la máquina. Una sugerencia es tratar de hacer girar este volante con una pinza/alicatas de presión. Intente mover este volante hasta que se destrabe. Cuando se destraba el botón se hunde. Hay que hacerlo con mucho cuidado porque estos volantes son de hierro colado/fundido y se pueden romper. Si su volante es muy nuevo no ponga las pinzas directo para no dejarle marcas, mas bien protéjalo con algún plastico duro o pedazo de cuero/piel
1/8" carbide Burr in a Dremel or drill will open the hardened needle plate right up. Just wear gloves to avoid micro metal shavings getting between your fingers and digging into your skin.
Creo que lo ideal es hacer un esfuerzo y comprar una máquina de 'triple transporte', de una aguja y mesa plana, especial para hacer tapicería de carros y muebles. Hay varias marcas conocidas que usan los tapiceros. Está la Pfaff 1245, Juki LU 563. Consew 206RB-5, etc.
wish you could explane the differances in needle better, i did this mod just like you showed and got the same needles but the didtance in the needle from the point to the thread hole is the trouble, the needle bottoms out it the bobbin before the thread is in far enought to be picked up, i see no way around it, you even show the differences in your video but don't show a work around
Hopefully, I understood the issue. The problem is the distance from needle point to thread needle hole. It happens thicker needles are a tad longer and sometimes touch the bobbin bottom. The solution is move the needle bar a little bit upwards verifying it is not touching the bobbin bottom anymore.
@@MrMeddle2243 As mentioned in former answer, not a big deal. Loosen the needle bar an move it upwards a little bit just enough to release it from touching the bobbin U shape cavity bottom.
En ese precio están, incluyendo el motor y en buenas condiciones en general. Para hacer el 'remate' que muchas veces es importante se puede hacer primero haciendo una puntada para adelante, luego levantar el 'pié de presión' con la palanca de rodilla y mover el material un poquito para adelante y sobreponer una puntada mas sobre la que hizo primero; luego continuar y al llegar al otro extremo hacer los mismo.

Si movemos el volante completamente hácia atrás, llega al ´punto cero' es decir la pieza de los dientes de arrastre tienen un movimiento de cero. min 17:13 5. Si queremos una puntada corta hay que poner el dedo en el botón, mover el volante poco a poco hácia adelante, esperar que se hunda el botón y dar vuelta a la rueda calculando que sea poco y nos dará una puntada pequeña...si quiere la puntada máxima, entonces tiene que seguir girando un poco mas la rueda hasta que tope...el botón regresa a su posición y ya está regulado la puntada. min17:21 6. Como pudimos ver el volante de la máquina se puede mover hácia adelante o hácia atrás...aveces para que afloje o se libere se le mueve un poquito en vaiven hasta que se sienta que el botón se hunde. Abrevbiando: Si tu máquina está en este momento con puntada larga y deseo acortar la puntada, entonces el proceso es: primero mover para adelante la rueda mientras se presiona con el dedo el botón, seguir lentamente moviendo la rueda hasta que se hunda. El siguiente paso sería para acortar la puntada, entonces tiene que ser para atrás...aveces está un poco duro, pero hay que forzar hasta que afloje el volante y darle para atrá lentamente..no hasta el tope, porque queda en cero.
Este modelo de máquina de coser no tiene palanca de remate/reversa. Si es necesario el remate, se puede sin la palanca. La forma es coser dos puntadas, luego levantar el pié de presión junto con la aguja y jalar el material (vinil, tela, etc.) hácia adelante para volver a coser o repasar sobre las dos puntadas hechas.
I think so. Those old Singer are very powerful. I started to do upholstery with my mom's old black treadle Singer sewing machine. She used to sew clothes with it.
The machine can but if doing the required adjustments. A bigger needle (120 = 19 singer size), change the 'needle plate' for a new one with a bigger hole to let the 19 needle passes through. What is very important is to replace a new 'feed dog' with higher teeth to drag the material easier. I think it is not necessary to do adjustments to the bobbin. A 19 needle size still passes through downwards easily.

En el minuto cero.54 de este video:th-cam.com/video/_QHSX8rXIXo/w-d-xo.html la flecha roja apunta a un pequeño tornillo que es el de ajuste para regular la palanca que sube y baja el 'pié prensatelas'. A lo mejor en su máquina se aflojó por algún motivo y la palanquita queda caida. Para poder regularlo con facilidad tendría primero que quitar el 'resorte de tensión' , luego aflojar el tornillito de la flecha roja, regular y hacer que la palanca haga subir y bajar el 'pié prensatelas' en forma normal. Luego de dar un buen ajuste al tornillito, colocar su resorte de presión otra vez.
Thanks for the tips, especially how the plate hole may be too small... I have a Singer 241-3 (an older 13) that I bought for $100 with table and motor. Needed adjustment, wouldn't sew right. Reset all adjustments (bobbin shuttle was out of time) and it sews great. It compliments my Consew 206RB-5 walking foot. I mainly sew heavy nylon webbing and cordura fabric, and your series on the Singer 241-12 has helped me a lot.
One thing I added, since this machine is a PUMP oil system and the cotton wick inside the head, going up into the pan above the needle and presser bar stops flowing as it should, I drilled a hole in the front of the head that allows me to stick an oil tube in the hole and add oil to that pan, which then wicks down to the moving stitch internals in the head...

Si va a coser materiales muy gruesos entonces debe poner un peine con dientes grandes para que jale/arrastre el material.
La banda de goma puede estar demasiado ajustada/templada, hay que aflojar un poco
En el min 4.52 podemos ver en la parte de arriba el tornillo regulador del motor con sus dos tuercas, una abajo y la otra arriba que es la contratuerca. Afloje un poco la contratuerca y enrosque la tuerca inferior. El motor tiene sus bisagras atrás y el frente es la parte que se puede mover hacia arriba o hacia abajo con ese tornillo.

I just bought a Singer 241-13 and found your videos on modications to be very helpful. I have changed the pulley on the motor out and have adjusted the food pedal connecting rods. The machine speed is slower but haven't found the sweet spot yet and foot pedal control adjustment. should the connecting rods be lenghted or shortened, I have tried both.

I have a 251-21 that ive used for 5 years , then moved and now can't find my manual and need to clean and oil it, I had bought several packs of the correct needles, and changed it today, The bottom of top stitch is loose about every 1-15 stitches maybe 3-4 in a row. As far as I know these machines have an automatic lubrication system. They have an oil tray and a turbine that pumps up the oil that runs for different parts of the sewing machine.

Estimada Maria Elena, La demostración que hago con la máquina del video es en vinil para carro, el cual es un material sintético con cierta resistencia. Me pude dar cuenta al ver la portada de su página que Ud. trabaja con materiales sintéticos también y de verdad son bien delicados. Va estar muy difícil que los dientes metálicos de arrastre no pelen o raspen este material.
Una solución sería el uso de dientes de arrastre de material plástico (teflón), de igual modo el pié de presión de este material.

Otra solución sería hacer un esfuerzo y conseguir una máquina de 'doble arrastre'. Este doble arrastre evitaría que el material se raspe o sufra algún rasguño. El doble arrastre se compone de dos patas que suben y bajan alternativamente. El arrastre del material se hace con la pata grande de atrás. Se mueve al unísono con los dientes del peine arrastrando el material limpiamente hácia atrás, mientras la pata pequeña sube y baja al ritmo que se va cosiendo.

As far as I know the 'shank' of sewing machine needles is standard and have the same measure for all needle sizes. Try to check again.

Question (1) Are you able to use the smaller size needles back in the machine with this conversion
Question (2)Would there be a limit to the size of needle due to the small clearance between the needle scarf and hook need apart.
Question (3)When you jumped up needle size from 140-22 to 180-24`what is the 180 measuring on the needle and what is the 24 measuring on the needle.

It does not affect...but if I'm going to continuoulsy sew 'clothes' with a thin needle and thread, then it would be necessary to change the 'needle plate' for another with a 'small little hole in the plate' 2. Of course, there's a limit...if too much we could weaken the little steel walls...I think to widen the opening for a 140-22 is enough .3. 140 measure is for the Metric or European system and 24 is for the English or Singer system.
Remind you that this procedure is just in case we cannot afford a heavy duty walking foot sewing machine to do upholstery. I we have some money it is better to buy the appropriate machine and not be doing these tricks.

EXAMPLE 1 Millimeter is shown on the package as NM 100. This NM is a Diameter measurement of the needles blade but not the shank.So the width of the blade.And the second number is the Measurement in Millimeters starting from the Bottom of the shank down to the top of the scarf on the needle, (NM150/25) So 150/Would be one and a half Millimeters across the blade
And the 25 is` 25 Millimeters from the top of the needles scarf up to the bottom of the shank.

I have now bought a Singer 331k5 walking foot machine, which I was told sews leather, (it was very hard to find info on this machine). Though after I bought it I found a site online saying it was made for light leatherwork, and 'fabric of uneven thickness". At least it is a leather machine!
Would I be able to make these adjustments on it? Would any other industrial Singer bigger feed dogs/plate fit it?
(I have ordered the tiny pulley to slow it down, and plan to sew as slowly as possible for accuracy, and to take strain off both of us, to reupholster just one small car in leather).

You have got a good Singer, walking foot sewing machine. It's better than the simple one Singer I show in the video which was designed to sew fabric and very light leathers.

Está un poco complicado. Tendría que cambiar el mecanismo excentrico que regula la puntada y le saldría mas caro que la máquina. Empecé hacer tapicería con este tipo de máquinas, pero les adaptaba el pié de presión de rodaja y para aumentar la puntada simplemente jalaba el material, llegando a hacer puntadas hasta de 6 mm.

Old upholsterers used to work with cloth/shoemaking sewing machines (simple transportation sewing machines). The ideal sewing machine to do upholstery (furniture, cars, etc.) is an industrial, triple transportation sewing machine(walking feet)..it means while the small foot is pressing the material down the bigger foot is up, but immediately goes downwards to press the material again...it's also called 'alternating feet' which do not let wrinkles on the material while sewing.
You could start with a used machine, but if it is affordable for you a new one would be better.

Yes, it still works with thin needles. The adapting did not affect the shuttle. I've taught these 'tricks', as a last option, in case of not having the resources to buy an an upholstery machine. I'd prefer to buy an appropriate sewing machine to do upholstery.
I have a singer 241-12 and it's stuck at zero stitch length. the plunger will lower when I turn the wheel but then it locks and I can't adjust the length. Any ideas?

@@michele24k First, I want to apologize with Panda Studios because there is no answer. I did not see this question, I am very sorry.
Regarding the issue, it happens every off and on. The solution is carefully force the big wheel to move back and forth. The first idea is while another person is plunging the button the other one is forcing the big pulley forwards and backwards. In the worst case scenario it would be necessary the use of grip locking pliers to hold the wheel to make it move forwards or backwards (protect the wheel with a thick cloth to avoid marking dents).
TIP: If the machine is sewing long stitches and I want shorter ones, then I should force the big wheel backwards.
If the machine is doing short stitches and I want longer stitches it means I should force the wheel to the front.
it seems as if the problem is with the clamp on the needle bar is there a way to replace that clamp the hole is not big enough for the needle to insert through that crap

A lo mejor necesita una aguja mas gruesa para coser materiales gruesos. Al penetrar el material la aguja se inclina y roza con algún borde que puede ser del pié de presión o la placa de la aguja.

+gerson hernandez The 'maximum stitch length' for this machine is of 4.6 mm=3/16" of an inch, and it give us approx. 5 stitches per inch (1/16" is missing to complete the inch). There is an eccentric mechanism that causes the stitch lenght...the only way to gain more stitch length would be altering this mechanism and make it bigger....this task includes time and money, perhaps more expensive than the machine.
If your machine does not have this maximum stitch length, so, you have to set it up from the botton on top right side:

Si se puede regresar a su forma original. Para ropa tiene que llever un peine de dientes finos si la ropa es delgada. Dientes un poco mas grueso si vamos a coser tela mas gruesa. Una aguja delgada también.
Tiene que volver a regular la altura de la barra que tiene la rodaja y ahora tendrá el nuevo pie de presión plano que es mas bajo.
Estos videos pueden ayudar. Hay un tornillito que se afloja con el desarmador plano. La barra queda suelta y se colocará hasta abajo y luego se vuelve ajustar el tornillito.

What is the part number for the feed dog and plate that was used in this video to make adjustments for heavy material
I don't have at hand the number, sorry. What I did is just took the 'needle plate' and 'feed dog' to a local supplier and requested same plate but with a bigger hole in the center and a feed dog with bigger teeth.

Si Ud. observa cuidadosamente el video podrá darse cuenta que se mostraron tres medidas de aguja. La primera es la 110 ó 18 que es con la que esta máquina debe coser en forma normal. Después de hacer los ajustes la hacemos coser con una aguja número 140 ó 22 y al final una mas gruesa que es la 180 ó 24.

No tengo una idea exacta, disculpe. Pero puedo sugerirle que acuda a un taller donde reparan las máquinas de coser. Estos técnicos nos pueden orientar con mas exactitud. Ellos saben donde venden los motores para máquina de coser y los repuestos. Si su motor está en buen estado y solo requiere arreglar o cambiar una pieza, hay lugares dedicados solamente al arreglo de motores especialmente.

Abrevbiando: Si tu máquina está en este momento con puntada larga y deseo acortar la puntada, entonces el proceso es: primero mover para adelante la rueda mientras se presiona con el dedo el botón, seguir lentamente moviendo la rueda hasta que se hunda. El siguiente paso sería para acortar la puntada, entonces tiene que ser para atrás...aveces está un poco duro, pero hay que forzar hasta que afloje el volante y darle para atrá lentamente..no hasta el tope, porque queda en cero.
Si tu máquina es otra envíame unas fotos para ver o apunta bien el modelo para buscar en internet.
Tengo una maquina igual pero la puntada se tranco , y no puedo moverlo por quedo alli y no se cambia.
Aveces sucede que se traba el boton que regula la puntada y no podemos dar vuelta manualmente el volante/polea de la máquina. Una sugerencia es tratar de hacer girar este volante con una pinza/alicatas de presión. Intente mover este volante hasta que se destrabe. Cuando se destraba el botón se hunde.
Hay que hacerlo con mucho cuidado porque estos volantes son de hierro colado/fundido y se pueden romper.
Si su volante es muy nuevo no ponga las pinzas directo para no dejarle marcas, mas bien protéjalo con algún plastico duro o pedazo de cuero/piel
1/8" carbide Burr in a Dremel or drill will open the hardened needle plate right up. Just wear gloves to avoid micro metal shavings getting between your fingers and digging into your skin.

Creo que lo ideal es hacer un esfuerzo y comprar una máquina de 'triple transporte', de una aguja y mesa plana, especial para hacer tapicería de carros y muebles. Hay varias marcas conocidas que usan los tapiceros. Está la Pfaff 1245, Juki LU 563. Consew 206RB-5, etc.
wish you could explane the differances in needle better, i did this mod just like you showed and got the same needles but the didtance in the needle from the point to the thread hole is the trouble, the needle bottoms out it the bobbin before the thread is in far enought to be picked up, i see no way around it, you even show the differences in your video but don't show a work around

Hopefully, I understood the issue. The problem is the distance from needle point to thread needle hole. It happens thicker needles are a tad longer and sometimes touch the bobbin bottom. The solution is move the needle bar a little bit upwards verifying it is not touching the bobbin bottom anymore.

@@MrMeddle2243 As mentioned in former answer, not a big deal. Loosen the needle bar an move it upwards a little bit just enough to release it from touching the bobbin U shape cavity bottom.

no tiene remate/reversa...sólo se mueve para adelante.

En ese precio están, incluyendo el motor y en buenas condiciones en general. Para hacer el 'remate' que muchas veces es importante se puede hacer primero haciendo una puntada para adelante, luego levantar el 'pié de presión' con la palanca de rodilla y mover el material un poquito para adelante y sobreponer una puntada mas sobre la que hizo primero; luego continuar y al llegar al otro extremo hacer los mismo.

Este modelo de máquina de coser no tiene palanca de remate/reversa. Si es necesario el remate, se puede sin la palanca. La forma es coser dos puntadas, luego levantar el pié de presión junto con la aguja y jalar el material (vinil, tela, etc.) hácia adelante para volver a coser o repasar sobre las dos puntadas hechas.

I think so. Those old Singer are very powerful. I started to do upholstery with my mom's old black treadle Singer sewing machine. She used to sew clothes with it.

The machine can but if doing the required adjustments. A bigger needle (120 = 19 singer size), change the 'needle plate' for a new one with a bigger hole to let the 19 needle passes through. What is very important is to replace a new 'feed dog' with higher teeth to drag the material easier. I think it is not necessary to do adjustments to the bobbin. A 19 needle size still passes through downwards easily.
do you think the topstitch on the old singer would wrk for the car upholstery bc i kno with the walking foot stitch is a little different
Definitely, a walking foot sewing machine would work out much better to do upholstery.
Top stitches with a domestic sewing machine would be shorter.
Donde se alarga la pintada
Hay un botón en la parte superior que se presiona hasta que se hunda mas y se sienta un 'click'. Con la mano izquierda se presiona el botón mientras al mismo tiempo se mueve la 'rueda volante de la máquina' de atrás hacia adelante hasta que se sienta que el botón se hunde y engrana un mecanismo.
Una vez hecho esto, si la rueda de la máquina lo mueve para adelante da la puntada mas larga. Para atrás es menos la puntada hasta llegar a cero en el tope.

mi maquina industrial se le callo la palanca que sube el pie de costura aluien sabra como la puedo arreglarlo esta floja
En el minuto cero.54 de este video:th-cam.com/video/_QHSX8rXIXo/w-d-xo.html la flecha roja apunta a un pequeño tornillo que es el de ajuste para regular la palanca que sube y baja el 'pié prensatelas'. A lo mejor en su máquina se aflojó por algún motivo y la palanquita queda caida. Para poder regularlo con facilidad tendría primero que quitar el 'resorte de tensión' , luego aflojar el tornillito de la flecha roja, regular y hacer que la palanca haga subir y bajar el 'pié prensatelas' en forma normal. Luego de dar un buen ajuste al tornillito, colocar su resorte de presión otra vez.
