Hi CMR, I am really glad to found your YT video because I am about to get the same machine you are showing here. Unfortunately I am not sure about the machine model cause even the "Singer" name was erased after so many years of machine working life. I am gessing that it is the same model by comparing the pictures I took against your video. In case it is the same model, I would like to ask you to help me to find a place in USA were I can get the TIMING BELT which is the only broken part before agree to buy it, otherwise the machine it will be just a piece of metal. Many thanks for your appreciated support. Note: Apparently the original Timing Belt has 62 teeth cleats (not sure about it). How I can send pictures to you?. Thanks again.
Hi, I love your videos. I have the same machine 51w56. I was lucky when I stumbled on it at a shop in the fashion district in NYC. I am new at this, so my question to you is how do you change the belt on this machine?
Hello and thank you for comments. To be honest on spare parts I have not needed to look for many years would you believe I have been using the same machine for 20 years and only changed the hook once and needles of course. I have othered similar that we can if need be take parts from.
Hi sorry I wasn’t clear on my last message. What I wanted to ask what model number is the needles used in this machine? Can I use a size 18 needle in this machine? Thanks
That's interesting about the thread numbering. Here in the states the higher the number the thicker the thread. I use V-69 or V-92 usually for my walking foot machine.
Lovely machine and thank you.. I have the same one- Can you advise what needle system does it take are these easy to get in the UK or elsewhere- I have an oversupply of M40 thread so needing probably a size 21/22 needle (I'm in aus)? Cheers.
Hi Again, I seem to have locked in my stitch length wheel when trying to take off the flywheel of my 51 56- the stitch length knob was working fine but now seems locked in with the flywheel.. is there something I need to do differently when I screw in the flywheel grub screw? That seems to be where the problem started. how you can help thanks! Ian
Hello mate, it’s a long time since I moved anything on the machine, I’m sure on my model I don’t need to play with any grub screw The only grub screw you would need to move is for the timing of the machine Il have a look next couple of days and come back to you Regards Tony
Hi, I have the same sewing machine , I need to get the timing belt , but I don't find it, do u have changed before the timing belt for a new one? Are those made up from rubber material like the new ones that are I'm the engine car ? If so what is the correspondent serial number , thanks
Hello mate I’m not sure you have the same machine ? I’ve been working on these machines for over 30 years and never had this issue I’m away at the moment but will be back home in a couple of days and I will check this for you . Regards Tony
Hi, my son hand stitches wallets and belts etc. I have a chance to pick one of these up for $200. I don't know anything about it except that it is operational. Do you think it's worth the price? Thank you for the video.
Sorry mate your obviously offended by something? Nothing was stretched in fact was shortened It was just few pointers about the sewing machine to witch I hope a few people may appreciate.😀
I’m having trouble figuring out how thread this machine properly! It seems I don’t have enough tension. Can u possibly help me with that? I have a singer 51-54 model
I am in the same situation. My aunt gave me her Singer 51w54 and I found the user manual online. The problem is that she didn't know how to set up the thread and bobbin and the user manual pictures are a little different than what I have. Does anyone have a 51w54 and can take some pictures or short video of their thread and bobbin set up?
Beautiful, ty. I was looking at a 51w25 for shoemaking. Can you adjust the stitch length?

It can range from about 6 to as small as 10
This is the machine that was in Silence of the Lambs that Buffalo Bill used.
Wow, you have amazing control of that machine! I'd have run off the side or crossed lines or something.
