Awesome! I've seen Dweezil 3 times and they DO NOT disappoint! Dweezil most definitely is as good a guitar player as his father, but more importantly, carries on his father's legacy. Great reaction!

Napoleon Murphy Brock on lead vocals and sax was part of both my favorite Frank Zappa and Dweezil Zappa lineups.

I've been watching live music for many years and I still see shows and Frank Zappa on new years eve 1974 is indelibly etched in my mind as one of the greatest I've seen. The crazy great time I had helped make it memorable too.

Not sure if anyone else made this statement in any of their comments but I believe it should be noted that the guitar that Dweezil is playing in this video is his dad's guitar, Frank played on stage with it for many many years!!!

Napoleon Murphy Brock, I believe, played a vital role in my daughter's development as a musician. It's a long story, but he believed in her when she didn't believe in herself.

People dont remember how many genres of music that Frank crossed and he should be remembered for the genious he was. And the great musicians that he made better by being with him and understanding music beyond what they could originally play. Listen to George Duke interview about the band or Steve Vai's interview about his rehearsal. Or Jean Luc Ponty all were influenced by him. There are others like Flo and Eddy but you could keep going on and on. He just influenced so many people in very suttle ways. Even myself not in playing but in my listening habits!!! And yes he was a Fusionist before that word became popular. But his son carries on the legacy which is so very cool.

I've seen Dweezil four times, and even took a master guitar class from him with my daughter. What he is doing is the best thing ever! I can't wait until he's touring again. BTW, if you are a fan of Edward Van Halen, Dweezil, who had a beautiful relationship with Ed, has done a brilliant series on VH albums, focusing on Ed. He interviews great guitarists just talking about EVH and VH. It's wonderful stuff.

    • @AKICITA
      @AKICITA 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yup, he's AMAZING!
I had to pick this out of the many I was considering simply because of the guitar exchanges...
I love the skill of Vai, but I lean more toward Dweezil because I like his tone & phrasing much more.
I'll be anxiously watching/waiting for your quad request to drop!

Thats a loaded question as on the one hand you are talking about the original creator and on the other hand you are talking about someone who has learned another persons solo however its undeniable that that Dweezil has definite skills

You've got the old blended with the new here. Napoleon Murphy Brock (vocals) Steve Vai (guitar) and Terry Bozzio (drums), the latter two who came out mid-song, used to all play with Frank. Your question about Dweezil, he's been a very accomplished guitarist for decades. He began as a kid playing Eddie Van Halen, no mean feat. To this day, he tours with his band keeping his dad's music alive. They are VERY worth seeing. Living in LA, I've seen them several times.

I'm going to admit that I haven't liked all songs you've reacted to on this platform, but like you, I'll give it at least a short listen.
Frank was great. He mixed alot of types of music together and always told a story. I think dweezle performing with the old band is phenomenal! Nice post

So, when Dweezil was around 10 or 11 years old he wanted to play guitar. So Frank turns to his guitar player who happens to be the legend Steve Vai and gives him the nod. Imagine being 10 years old and being tutored by (arguably) the best player of all time! Frank tutored Steve, Steve taught Dweezil. Pretty amazing. They were all masters back then. Terry Bozzio, Ruth Underwood, George Duke, Steve Vai, and Frank. Dweezil is continuing his dads legacy. Ok I’m done. Haha

‘Oh no’ one song ‘Son of Orange County’ second and third is ‘More trouble coming every day’
Now this was years ago , you really need to look up some later versions of Dweezils’ amazing multi talented band and do yourself a favor and maybe listen to Frank playing Zoot Allures off the album of the same name and yes Dweezil is as good as his dad with guitar, probably better 🎶 {-

Is Dweezil a better guitarist than Frank? There are different opinions, but I think he is. FZ is the greatest of composers. Dweezil, who I have jammed with, does everything Frank does and more. His improv solos are clean and imaginative, using advanced techniques. He plays parts FZ wrote but were too difficult for him to play, like “G-Spot Tornado” which FZ said only a machine could play, Dweezil plays it.
