@@erolbulut2584 How foolish of me. Of course keyboards are percussion instruments. Because you hit the keys with various sticks and mallets. Here's the thing: A violinist cannot be considered a drummer but a trumpet player can be considered a guitarist. True fact.
Dweezil Zappa's 'Zappa Plays Zappa' concert is so worth watching also. Includes amazing performances of More Trouble Every Day, Inca Roads, The Black Page, Florentine Pogen, Zombie Woof... and masses more. Napoleon Murphy Brock's in the band, as well as guest performances from Steve Vai and Terry Bozio.
So good to know that you dig Zappa, some people just don't get him at all. It was always a real experience to see him & band live. Though I would urge you to do the 'studio' version of "Inca Roads" easily one of my top Zappa tracks along with "Slime"
There is no studio version of Inca Roads. The version on One Size Fits All IS the Token performance with a different solo, the solo being from You Can’t Do That On Stage Anymore Volume II.
The drummer on this song is Chester Thompson, who eventually went on to play for Genesis (post Peter Gabriel). When he first joined that band, in a discussion with other Zappa drummers, he said that Phil Collins wanted to know how he played the drum riff from this song. Then he said he tried to show him, but Phil just couldn't get it right...🤣
Worse than the Televangelists that Frank railed against in the 80s, Trump couldn't quote a verse from the Bible. I expect that Jim, Pat and the rest at least knew what they were reading.
Listen to the Underwood video where she explains how frank convinced her to electrify her prized marimba. She wanted to but it required drilling a hole in every key.
I remember driving around Watts in 1980 and it was in the wintertime .....there was all these green vacant lots where all those buidings used to be where they all burned down back in 1965 back then 15 years later they still haven't rebuilt anything
The first time I saw Zappa, we were lucky enough to sit within the first 10 rows. His guitarist that tour, can't remember his name, but it was probably late 75 or 76, the guy wore a teeny tine bikini bottom. And it looked like he was completely naked behind his guitar. What an incredible show that was. His son, Dweezil came and hung out with me a few times in the late 80s at two of the radio stations I worked for. Such a sweetheart. Far more serious than his dad.
frankly... i prefer this "more" version. on my list of songs to play for people to get them into zappa. such a rockin' song. the punch of the horns. (he inserted a little "dragnet" reference in there. that shows up in lots of places: more conceptual continuity.)
This is indeed a tasty little sucker! Chester on great form... Ruth played on Uncle Meat (before she married Mr Underwood) but was not a member of the Mothers.

Zap is very little about music and mostly just juvenile nonsense. His "music" is what you would expect to hear if Beavis and Butt-head tried to make a record.
Zappa is probably the most underappreciated and underrated guitarist of all time
indeed, Shawn Lane tho
No he isn't. What a put down.
Napoleon Murphy Brock!🤣
He is one entertaining and TALENTED MF!
Room service 😂
One of the best percussion sections ever devised. Duke, Thompson, and Underwood
Duke isn't percussion. You're thinking of Ralph.
Zappa is amazing. He catalog is all over the place. Never know what to expect. Top musicians. Tough riffs.
@@Royale_with_Cheeze Keyboards are most definitely percussion instruments.

@@Royale_with_Cheeze No. One presses keys that are connected to hammers which strike strings. They reside in the percussion section.
This band had some of the best drummers, best musicians ever
This song still hits today ...

Rudy Ray Moore (Dolemite) did like a poetry “rap” in his movies. Gil Scott Heron was a precursor to hip hop & rap. “Whitey is on the Moon.”
the ‘heavy up 70’s funk version’ vs the ‘60’s Dylan-esque beat rap’ version
I love both versions 😂 I can't pick a favorite lol

What's to 'get'? It's music. Zappa never wrote a serious lyric in his life. It's all about the music.
Love Chester's Druming! DIG Ruth, Frank's da MAN ! Newk from Kentucky

Ahhhh ok... I get it. Damn. That's cool. I'll just keep jamming that one then 😂😎
ok but with a much better sound !
My favorite concert and lineup from Zappa.
Great stuff as always with Zappa.
Love it!! Can’t wait for next week!
The guitar that Frank uses here had effects built into the guitar, that could be activated with switches.
And Freak Out was released in 1966.
Just like every giutar.
But Frank had more effects put in this guitar. All the different tones you hear in this is from me guitar, not effects pedals.
@@AndyMmusic Pedals, switches. It doesn't matter. The objective was to produce his sound for your ears.
I,ve been a fan since 76/ He alway,s surrounded himself with the best Studio cat,s ( Jazz)!😮😮😊

Phil wouldn't cut it in Franks band!
Zappa Lives!
They incorporated into Genesis' song "Afterglow" though not isolated like this. Chester is awesome!
I don't know about that, if Phil could play with Brand X he could probably cut it with Zappa@@xane4101
I remember Chester with Tower of Power, he played a killer Hammond B3.

Dont give a sh*t about Trump, but Frank was eerily right!

Lol both sides are dumb as hell

Adrian Belew played with him in that era. I saw him with Adrian, he came out wearing a WACs uniform. Crazy!
Ruth was the wife of Ian Underwood who was an original member of the Mothers
❤ thanks ZAPPA the best 100 year 🎉

"Zap"? I think you've confused this incredible genius with some little known supervillain, altho Frank would have probably enjoyed the comparison.
Huh? Lol
