I've been a Moody Blues fan since 1968...right before my Vietnam tour...helped me make it through

Agreed! This is a great album segment. I too play this sequence still, and fairly often. Such a wonderful range of sounds and music. Thanks for bringing it to TH-cam. Love it!

They are my alltime favorite. I agree this sequence is stellar. Pinder has that Whiskey and Cigarettes voice.

I like to listen to Are You Sitting Comfortably first with these selections.

Been a fan since 74.. I had every at one time .. now all of them on digital.. The dream. Have you heard. Best on album. The quote Together we'll stand on the threshold of a dream was my high school yearbook post in 1975..

I MIGHT have heard this song when I was in college back in 1984 (a friend played the album on cassette while we were partying late one night), but I just don't recall for sure now. However, I've been getting into a lot of Moody Blues and Yes lately this past year, and so I recently discovered more Mike Pinder tunes like Have You Heard, How Is It We Are Here and The Balance. Or, perhaps I Rediscovered them.
They're all fantastic of course, as are Out And In, My Song and When You're A Free Man. Pinder always had such a soft, mellow, soothing voice and was a true musical pioneer with that clever Mellotron of his. The later Moody Blues albums have a lot of great music in them too, but all of those first seven LPs are a TRANSCENDENTAL EXPERIENCE!! We thank you for the posted video. Prog On, my friend---Prog On!!✌

Hi Kevin ... My first 2 Moody albums I bought in the late 60's were "In Days Of Future Past" and "On A Threshold Of A Dream" from which "The Dream" is from. Then I passed their other albums by until I had a girlfriend in my senior year in high school who liked the MB's. Well, then I had to buy the rest of their 60's/early 70's collection and found how fantastic they were. What a guy won't do for their girlfriend. And then she broke up with me but the MB's albums always stayed by my side. Enjoy ...

My dad did a great acoustic rendition of Never Comes The Day. He can still play but not finger pick. His guitar and record were how I became aware as a toddler in the 70s

Big MB fan, but I haven't listened to Threshold for a while. Going back to listen to it again with fresh ears.

Yes! I know this album so well. Because my parents had the record when I was born (in '72). I was immediately into records more than they were. I got them to play me the records til I was old enough to play them. We still bond over the music from my toddlerhood. CSNY, Joni, Dylan, Jackson Browne...

Hi Matt ... The 60's and 70's were the best times to hear incredible music. The genres were growing by leaps and bounds. Definitely a fun time to grow up. Rock on ...

Finally! A reaction to a Moodies song not written or sung by Justin Hayward or John Lodge! Don't get me wrong. The Js both made significant contributions and their songs made the Moodies more accessible. However, I believe that this suite of poem and songs defines what the Moodies were at this stage. Listen to it live.

Hi Alternate Moodies ... Threshold has always been my favorite Moodies album. I love how all the songs fit together. Take care and rock on ... 😎🎸✌

@@drivingwithtodd1781 Threshold is a terrific album and the last Moodies LP to have elements of the MkI lineup (Denny Laine years). Dear Diary, Send Me No Wine, and So Deep Within You all could easily been recorded by the earlier lineup and sound awesome. A suggestion: do From The Bottom Of My Heart. Excellent song penned by Denny Laine and Mike Pinder and is considered by many to be one of the transitional tracks between the two iterations of the group. And Def Rock On!

I liked the Moody Blues from the song Go Now w/ Denny Laine. Then the radio played Nights In White Satin and Tuesday Afternoon, so I had to go out and buy the album, and I was hooked. The "core 7" albums are my favorites (especially To Our Childrens Childrens Children) and I can, and do, listen from beginning to end, usually with headphones. After Seventh Sojourn, their style changed and although I listened to and enjoyed many of the songs, their albums never seemed to have the same continuity as the first 7, and some albums had only 1 or 2 songs I actually liked. Thank you for this video, I enjoyed it very much. Now off to listen to some more Moody Blues.

I agree with you. Their first seven are wonderful albums which I have them all on original vinyl. I had a girlfriend in my senior year of high school who got me into the Moody Blues. I’ve enjoyed them ever since. Thank you for your comment. 😎✌️

The person does not mention anything about the mix. To me it sounded like the volume was boosted since I heard some distortion in the song. Thank you for your comment. ✌
