Justin Hayward exudes humility and is a musician of the highest caliber. He has consistently praised other musicians and their work throughout his career. However his songs, guitar playing, and his voice are all in a league of their own. Any one single emotion has many facets and Justin has always been able to weave those feelings into his songs. For me, Justin is the single best musician that this planet will ever know. I wish him much love and all the best.

What a great guy. Sincere, pleasant, polite, humble. And one heck of a great songwriter and musician! To be fair, there are a lot more than 3 chords in Nights in White Satin.( I count 6 actually). And it's the way he put them together that makes that tune so beautiful and haunting. Most people could not put 6 chords together to make a song like that.

The biblical prophet Elijah has returned, as prophesied, and testifies: I saw the Moody Blues in Kansas City in 1999, with a full orchestra, and it was an absolutely amazing spiritual experience! I WAS LITERALLY BLOWN AWAY, and had tears streaming down my face. I'm a 1970's rock and roller who has seen many many major concerts, but this was something else! And the way I got tickets is a miracle in and of itself. The day before the Moody Blues concert I had gone to see an all female concert that included Cheryl Crow and the Dixie Chicks and others. (I believe they called it "the Liz Phair concert.") When we went to leave after the concert, my car battery was dead. I opened the hood and saw that my alternator belt had broken on the trip up, so we couldn't just jump the battery. I called my sister who lives in KC (I do not, I live 120 miles away) and I stayed the night at her house. I also called my retired dad, and he brought up a new alternator belt and a fresh battery.
The next day I was in the Sandstone (outdoor venue) parking lot replacing the belt (there were no other cars in that huge parking lot) when suddenly a car drives up to me and the driver asks, "Hey, do you guys want free tickets to see the Moody Blues tonight?" I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW ABOUT THIS CONCERT! I nabbed those two tickets quickly, and the rest is history.
GOD is so active in my life that I had no doubt Who was behind this! And GOD had literally spoken to me through the Moody Blues once before, on the radio, using the song "Nights in White Satin"....but that's another story.
The Moody Blues. I wish I could share what I know with the band members. And perhaps they shall indeed hear my testimony in the coming years, when GOD puts me on the world stage. (See the Bible's Book of Revelation Chapter 11.) All mysteries have already been unveiled and published in these "end times": the end of the old Cycle of Time that the New Cycle may be born. And those who seek shall indeed find.

After Denny Laine left, they had a few 'new-Moodys' singles made that hardly charted, but these records precursed - in retrospect - what they were going to do on the sympho rock albums after 1967. I liked in particular a B-side; 'Cities". And I thought, 'they may have split (with Laine), but I feel that the best of the band is yet to come.' And it did!
At the time, 'Nights In White Satin' gave me a shock. Imagine that this sensational single wasn't a big hit right away, in the UK it reached 19, only in the Netherlands it shot to the number 1 spot. And with the re-release a few years later, it was #1 everywhere because radio stations played it constantly...

Regarding the RRHF and Mike Pinder, his wife posted a statement that Mike made that should hopefully clear up any doubts or negative misconceptions regarding that event. But you are absolutely correct, we’ll never know about the Moody’s interpersonal relationships. Thanks for your comments. I opted for one of the shows with Mike Dawes opening instead of Christopher Cross, in hopes of more time with Justin. I will also be seeing John Lodge this month. As for John’s voice, let’s just say that he won’t be hitting the high notes! It’s a pity that the two of them, whose paths are crossing in NY State, won’t appear together.
I’ve seen the Moodies many times in four states late ‘70s onward (too late for Mike, alas). The group was always greater than the sum of its parts. Like CSNY, Fleetwood Mac, The Eagles, etc., it’s better with multiple writers and vocalists.
One of the other commentators cited Mike’s gentlemanly statement about the RRHF event, time running short, yet Graeme spoke twice. I seem to recall Justin moving Mike away from the mic when he was about to speak. And, of course, Mike was left out of the live performance.
You and I, with countless others, can still enjoy the individuals and the group, especially through the magic of TH-cam.

It was Mike Pinder who gave the counterpart part melody for " nights in white satin" !! The three others don't mind AT all that day when Justin présented it ! It was Mike who developped it with the mellotron counterpart and then Ray added a somptous flûte to ! Yes 57 years ago ,last century ....but without Mike 's unique skills there wouldn't be any Hayward 's interviews 18:00 ,nore hall of fame !!!!! I really miss Mr Pinder ,a unique musician and mind .@@charlesbaran1106

For many of us original fans, Mike Pinder is revered. We will never truly know just how much he contributed to the songs on the early albums, but it is clear from past comments by Justin that he relied on Mike a great deal. Hell, Nights in White Satin was just nice words on a piece of paper until Mike sat at the Mellotron and said, how about this and the song came to life. Band members don’t have to be good friends with each other, but you should damn well give someone credit for his contributions.

Justin is an elegant man and I love his music. That being said, his disavowal of a "friendship" with Mike Pinder and the dismissive way in which he now refers to John Lodge seem ungracious and unnecessary.

I agree- Mike wrote some of their best songs and his mellotron was essential to the band’s sound. Doesn’t mention Ray at all…….. I was very disappointed in them for not letting Mike speak at the RRHOF induction. So what’s with love love love stuff?

I wish he would have asked him questions like Howard Stern would do, such as, "Have you ever had a homosexual relationship with another man?" They could have put him under a lie detector, and it would have been very entertaining...

I saw the Moody Blues on that 1968 tour in Cleveland Ohio and they were the main attraction.
Incredible music and they brought a recently developed Moog Synthesizer that weighed about 900lbs. I read they didn't know the cost of shipping it from date to concert date.
