Si Chief Officer o Chief Engineer sympre walang mas mataas sa kanilang dalawa pareho silang head ng department, si Chief Officer ay head ng Deck Department at si Chief Engineer ay head ng Engine Department. Pero sympre kung command sa barko pag uusapan kailangan sumunod ni Chief Engineer kay Chief Officer, pero kung makina pag uusapan sympre kailangan sumunod ni Chief Officer kay Chief Engineer. Marami kasi nalilito gawa ng bairang sa shoulder board ng Chief Officer at Chief Engineer. Dahil si Chief Officer tatlo lang ang bairang sa balikat, habang si Chief Engineer apat na ang bairang sa balikat. Pero malaki pinagkaiba ni Chief Officer at Chief Engineer, dahil si Chief Engineer yun na ang pinaka mataas na posisyon ng kurso niya at hindi siya pwedeng maging kapitan ng barko, Habang si Chief Officer o kung tawagin sa tagalog ay kamote ay siyang susunod na kapitan ng barko. Pero over all hangat hindi pa na propromote si Chief Officer pareho lang sila ng ranggo ni Chief Engineer walang mataas sa kanilang dalawa pareho silang department head at pareho din silang kanang kamay ni kapitan.
Paano po mag barko kahit hindi nag graduat ng BSME or BSMT WALA po kase kameng pera para mag aral AKO ng BSMT OR BSME .. ano pong maganda gawin para makapag barko? Gustong gusto kopo kase mag barko

Second in command is C/E because is higher than C/O captain is represendative of the company but he is also responsible for the deck/bridge/accomodesion and C/E is responsible for Engine. C/O is the one for anchorage with Buson and atleast AB or OS and the D/C. C/O is also responsible for ship maintenance by giving the orders to Buson and for mooring forward, if the company is not gypsy company they will have 2 Second mates and 1 Third mate to do GMDSS/Navigation/Safety C/O must do navigation duties when they pass from dangerous area like Singapore that has alot of traffic and also there is some draft limitation. So probably you are in cheap company or you pinoy put to much sal-sal XD to what you are doing.
