S u r crct there is chance but automated ship is very difficult to imagine for all over the world, It will affect engine side first than deck side, even to manage automated vessel 24 hrs, need same navigating officers from shore atleast..., so job security is always there for deck side in marine field but engineers can go into other field also...., as of now it's ok... to b on deck side.. only huge differences in salary u will have to experience...... in future as shore job 1/5 of pay u will get ashore

In my company chief officer don't have to do watches. He only have to do day jobs from 8 to 5 so that he can fully focus on the deck maintenance and cargo related stuff. We always have an additional junior officer to compensate for the absence of c/o at the watch.

Bro I am chief off on bulk, we do advance or retard the timing in sailing by half to one hour every day or weekly once or twice depends upon the time zone and the sailing duration also we consider sunrise timings everyday...
