Yes guys finally I have been PROMOTED Onboard to the rank of a 2nd Officer.
It was a very beautiful journey being a 3rd mate for 3 years and Finally climbing upto the next rank.
In this video, I will be showing you the nitty grittes of my LIFE AT SEA experience of taking oVer as a 2nd Mate. Many new responsibilities are on my shoulders including but not limited to Passage Planning, Voyage Execution, Bridge Equipment’s etc.

Many congratulations on your promotion. My son started out as a Cadet with Maersk doing the same routes as you. He was given a two year sabbatical to join the British Antarctic survey on the James Clark Ross . He rejoined Maersk supply service. I have a nephew who is a decky on a tanker in the Caribbean and a niece who is a cadet engineer. They chose to follow my sons career and a life at sea. Anyone watching and considering a career in the Merchant Navy Karanvir and his channel is an excellent representation of the job and I wish every seafarer safe and fair passage.

Congrats! I want to tell you an interesting anecdote from my 2nd officer days in the 90s ( paper charts). It was my 6th or 7th ship as 2nd officer. And believe it or not, I plotted the whole passage from the port ( where we were) to a wrong similar sounding port , rather than where we were supposed to go ( which had a similar name too). And captain only found it, half way in the passage, at sea, that we were heading towards the wrong port! I still chuckle thinking about it. Lesson here - Never be over confident!
