You can not gain salvation through good works. How good is your good works that it can reach the standard of a holy, perfect and Almighty God.
No one can reach God's standard of holiness no matter how good works you do. No matter how much you pray every day.
And besides we all sin every single day, in actions we sin a lot. In words we hurt others. In our thoughts we entertain evil ideas, we look other men/women lustfully, in our mind we wish other to die. In our hearts we hate another person.
So no one will reach God's standard of holiness. For us to enter heaven we need a Saviour. And that's Jesus.
