I can't remember where I heard it, but apparently "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" game had a couple of advantages as far as licensed games go. One is that the movie was delayed, so the game got some time to be polished up a bit. Two, Raven Software were already working on a prototype of a Wolverine game of their own before they were contracted to make a movie tie-in one, so they incorporated as much from that as they could.
EDIT: I remembered where I heard it. Always Nerdy's retrospective on this game.

The Kurt reference is wolverine origins is meant to be an origin for Nightcrawler (Kurt Wagner) who is blue like mystique and can teleport like wraith. Weird inclusion for sure considering it makes no difference to the plot and it’s comic innacurate considering Kurt’s father is the demon who they used in X-men first class.

Incase if you don't know what he means by Shattered Dimensions being "more on the Devil May Cry end", its because Shattered Dimensions's upgrades actually have you unlock new moves with the currency instead of just upgrading the fists altogether, which is seen in Devil May Cry but not God of War. Shattered Dimensions looked to be "very" though judging by the combat, and there's even a grab attack like as seen in God of War. Additionally, Shattered Dimensions has multiple playable characters, which is something that DmC has that God of War doesn't, where the three different Spider-Men would be Dante/Nero/V of Devil May Cry.
In fact, some of these games in the Knockoff Collection include games that have gotten mixed or sometimes negative reviews, as well as obscure commercial failures, but TBP still enjoys. But among them, there's always going to be at least an X-Blades or Smash n Survive where a game that is this panned is actually that bad the whole time.

The Wolverine Origins game was so good that I've played it multiple times. I think I played a total of three different places on the Xbox I started a new playthrough of it this year. I need to get back the Xbox version. But I think this game is freaking amazing especially with the alternative costumes the only problem is outside of the main campaign there's nothing else to do there are a couple of challenges but I wish there was kind of like a horde mode. Where you could just continue playing until you die with hundreds of enemies coming at you. And I do think it has some of the best CGI cutscenes in gaming history especially the opening and ending could being the best CGI cutscenes I've ever seen in gaming history surprisingly those cutscenes still hold up to this very day which is amazing. I love the gore engine. Especially the healing factor of Wolverine how you can see bone and internal organs the more and more you play the game. You can see him regenerate them in real time. This game surprisingly is really amazing. If Only They got to make a proper sequel

Ghost Rider was my favorite games growing up. I played it even before I knew God of War existed. We didn't have much money back then, we had gotten a hacked PS2 1 year before the release of PS3 and Ghost Rider was one of my first games to play on that console, with a pirated CD. I've played half of the game countless times till I could afford a memory card. Then, I literally wouldn't be exaggerating if I say I had finished this game countless times. Man this review just took me back to those days. I'd spam every single combo I get to memorize and master them till the next upgrade. Funnily enough, I loved those bike sections. Compared to your experience, mine had no lag. I wish we'd get a modern Ghost Rider game that takes lessons from this old one. I had tried to play it on PCSX2 a couple times but never could make the frame time work properly. It was either a slow motion or fast forwarded gameplay.

I enjoyed watching Ghost Rider movies, you shouldn't feel bad just cause others didn't enjoyed it or "critics" didn't liked it. I saw it from a audience perspective, and even if I watch it today from a "critic" perspective, I think the Ghost Rider character himself alone can carry the whole movie, the whole blue flame thing etc etc, but that's just me.
Wolverine was one of the few games, I played from start to end. But I don't think I played some of those levels, so I'll give it another try. One of the main reasons being, it was available on PC, meanwhile I could only play Ghost Rider via emulator, so I played very little of it. And if I ever got to the part where he uses that special elevate in air lightning move, I could've easily clocked that as a god of war copy. Cause I played gow1 from start to end, but second I just used a 99%/100% save to just rush and finish the game 😂
But I did all that in my early years, so it'd be interesting to see how I like all of these things today.

Frankly i do miss when tie-in games like this existed, since a lot of them in a variety of cases had the chance to expand on some things if not include stuff that was cut from the movies entirely, like in the console version of revenge of the sith where they had a few sectons that were built off scenes that were cut. Or hell, even go further than that like that chicken little game that was a weird pseudo-sequel to movie. 26:47 You see the funny thing about that is, they only got him to voice TONY not IRON MAN.
Probably BECAUSE it was costly to have RDJ doing voice work so they limited him to just cutscenes with Tony and not allll the in game dialogue with Iron Man that plays throughout the game.
It's pretty hilarious once you notice since Stephen Stanton at many points sounds like he's doing an almost parody level impression of RDJ.

I wonder if they got the idea to have the DOFP timeline be the classic movie one from this game. Also Origins wolverine is such a fun game to play with cheats on, seeing hoe much damage could be done to wolverine's body is insane.

I've played the Iron Man tie-in game on the DS, the two Fantastic Four movie games but what was jarring was the Rise of the Silver Surfer game where the likeness was of the movie cast but the actors didn't voice their characters instead it was just voice actors doing those characters and the X-Men Origins: Wolverine on the Wii, overall, I enjoyed those games.
I remember as a kid when playing the 1st Fantastic 4 movie game, I scared my family's cat in the museum level because of the dinosaurs roaring

What kind of computer are you using to emulate PS3 ?
I have a Ryzen 7 3800X, 3070 and 32gb of ram but I seem to have problems emulating PS3, at least Red Dead Redemption and the Metal Gear Solid collection on RPSC3. RDR runs about 24fps but I know I should be getting more Frames per second. Maybe I need to just mess around in the settings ? What renderer are you using ?

There is one other GOW esque licensed superhero movie game left out in this video: Hellboy The Science Of Evil. It was released around the same time as the second movie (which is a great film btw) and wasn't very good. But they did get the cast from the film back, this is sadly the closest we have gotten to a Hellboy 3. Oh yeah, and the PSP version of the game is similar but also different (and slightly better imo).

I’m gonna go out in a limb and say I love the ghost rider movie. It’s a little cheesy at times sure but I still love it to death. Personally one of my favourite Nick cage performances. The scenes with ghost rider were just eye candy to me. Yeah the story was a bit iffy here and there and it definitely felt like there was a bit of untapped potential (like the scene where both riders travel to the final battle together but the old one who’s name I forget just leaves Johnny behind by himself) but nonetheless I still love it as just a dumb fun movie to watch. That movie got me into this ghost rider phase that I had for a while and for that it holds a special place in my heart despite its inherent flaws that I can admit it has.

I played and loved all of these games as a kid except Thor, which I'm happy about, and Green Lantern, which is a shame because I was a big GL fan and I know I would've looked over it's flaws. That movie honestly felt like an insult though and it was probably the first time I was massively disappointed by a piece of media I was looking forward to, so there's no way I was touching a tie-in to it. The Origins game though was just something else for me I mean I had never seen something so violent or gorry and I loved every second of it. That it starred one of my favorite characters was incredible. I also have a lot of nostalgia for the Ghost Rider game although I'm sure I wouldn't think it holds up nearly as well as Wolverine. Still I had a lot of appreciation for the character from old issues I found of the 90's Midnight Sons era comics, which I'm sure has a lot to do with why I loved the movie and game, and thought things like a skin of Vengence was awesome.

As a kid I used to play a lot of Spider-man: Friend or Foe. The catch was that I didn't have a memory card on my PS2. So I had to play every single game from the 0 once I booted it up.
Which means that this, already, boring game became all the more boring.
Which also means that I never got to reach the finish of God of War 1&2, which is a shame.

Wraith can teleport, kinda like Nightcrawler, and in the comics Mystique is Nightcrawler's mom.

The only flaw with the Wolverine game is the impossible qte finisher in the sentinel boss fight. They didn't play test that at all. I got so far in the game just to stop playing it right there. Couldn't get beyond that and it was the only thing stopping me from beating the game. And I unlocked all the costumes in those challenging mirror matches.

I don't know, maybe because I was a kid, maybe because you wouldn't expect much of those kind of movies, but any superhero movie from 90s to mid 00s I remember I used to like a lot, if I were to watch it nowadays, probably it would be dumb fun or just I'd think ''did I really enjoy this?'', but it's fine, same happens with a lot of games too, I think in the end, what really matters is if you're having fun, no matter how bad others say it's a bad movie or game, if you enjoy it, enjoy it

XMen Origins: Wolverine was actually supposed to be a standalone game on its own. Not a tie in game. However, they had to which is why the main story revolves around sentinels however, there are the movie elements pushed into it. Which feels off at times. So, ya, that's why it's a cut above the rest due to this simple fact.
