I have spent time going through my strava to compile this list, adding up the number of runs and total mileage to see which running shoes make the most used long run list this year in 2023!

Hands down the best should be Asics Superblast. On my 500km+ now and still going!
Wish I could try it, they dont do my size!
My favourite long run shoes this year are Superblast and Adios Pro 3. Nice video as always Andy!
Prime X Strung V1 and SuperBlast easily were my top LR shoes. If it was wet out, the Prime X got the nod as the SuperBlast was a little slick on the wet pavement at times. Honorable mention goes to the Puma Nitro Elite V2 and Next%3 when I needed pace specific LRs for my marathon training. So many great choices for 2023! 2024 is looking incredible as well.
Adidas Prime x strung and Nb elite v3 are my 2 favorite long run shoes.
Like you I've done a lot in the speed 3. I actually prefer it to the speed 2 as much more stable and versatile.. Just bought a new pair.
Boston 12 is also a good one.
Good morning. Excellent description, Andy. My vote goes to the saucony E. speed 3. A nice sunday for everyone.
Pro 3, I got because I love the VF1. But, for me, the geometry is totally different. Maybe the impact is the same but the rocker is the biggest difference. Never felt anything like it, with the pro 3. I’ve stocked up… got a pair on a deal hiding in the cupboard 😂. Hope you feel better soon mate!
As a brooks ambassador (full disclosure) I can't disagree😊.. or actually I can.. haha. Love the max but I prefer the regular new Hyperion. (I know we disagree on that 😊). Wow.. getting some serious plans in place for London. Excited to see and follow the journey

Long Run shoe rotation for this year: Hoka Mach 4(retired after 320 miles) Saucony Endorphin speed 3(retired after 350 miles) and Saucony Triumph 20. (currently using at 110 miles)
I prefer the endorphin speed 3 to the speed 2, i always felt I was going to break my ankles whenever I went round a corner in the 2s
I just got the 2s. Bit wobbly. I've heard many prefer the 2 over the new formula 3
Don’t get me wrong they were really fun to run in but I prefer the stability in the 3s
Glad to hear good things about ES3; just got them for new cycle to London marathon (whit EP3); run nycm in (EP3) 03:27:51; London target 03:09:59 (i buy VF2 for 84$ in NYC, i will keep them in stock)

my fav was asics superblast i run the athens clasic marathon and goes very nice
I'm still using the Novablast 3 and looking forward to v4 in December
PrimeX strung has been my main long run shoe this year, will likely be next years too as it doesnt seem to be quite understanding the second law of thermodynamics.
Wierd about the pro3, I've just bought a pair and found them to be roomier than the takumi in the same size, i guess they dont scale up to cruze liner proportionally.
hi I'm so glade i found you who has the same shape and foot size of me. ill be watching with interest your video for sure thanks !!!! i have such difficulty finding my best shoes, i spent so much money those past several years to have never found really my best nor one pair that i can believe to be my lover... yep, that bed of a runner's life. so much mileage but with such bad luck finding what fits me best. Since the shoe companies doesnt really makes US13.5 size, to me its that alway compromising situation between US13 and US14... either too small or too big....
Yes we all knew the Hyperion Max would come out on top!! At your size it must be pretty light compared to most, I think by far the lightest of this bunch??
Yes lightest of this selection of the non plated ones, I think the next%2 and endorphin pro 3 are lighter and I think they’re on a par with the adios pro 3
Just love the Pro 3. My go to race shoe now!
I agree. Adidas' sizing model is messed up. Going up a size it's too large, down a size it becomes too tapered in the forefoot
Just picked up the hyperion max's for $65, can't beat that price so i had to give it a go.

Love the speed 3 ran my half pb (high 73) in them in October at Manchester. Will be wearing the for Valencia in a few weeks
My speed 3 are awesome, I'm just faster for the same perceived effort than other shoes and they dissappear on my feet.

Hi Andy did you try the Superblast for long runs? I think these are my favorite non plated long runs shoes … and the plated ones are now the Adios Pro3. But sadly I already scratched the conti outsole rubber with a piece of metal on the road or something lol … I had to glue it 😭 … I sent back my 1st pair due to a noisy thing and now scratched after 10km lol 😂… I d never try brooks , maybe I m gonna have a look to the Hyperion max 🧐👏👏👏🇫🇷

Can’t remember which you use for your half marathon races Andy? I slagged off the speed 3s as was getting sore feet in them, but persevered (£130 does that 🤣) and now they are fine. Just done 10 miles in them today. Favourites still adidas pro 3 and speed 2s though.
I used the endorphin elites for my half buddy
My most used long run shoe is the alphafly 1 once you wear in the arch it’s so comfortable at slow speed but you can really pick up the pace for theses faster miles
Second place is adidas prime x strung for the same reasons although you have to be a bit careful where to use it , as it’s too unstable for anything other then retively good roads and tarmac paths ,still it’s a lot better then the original prime X for some reason even tho it’s just a upper change
The endorphin pro 3 would have been great but the toe box is incredibly narrow , even at a full size up I couldn’t fit in it and had to sell it
The endorphin speed 3 isn’t as bad but still too narrow in the toe box for me , maybe a size up would work but then the rest of the shoe might be too big
Speed 2 for me way better
I’d like to try a non plated long run shoe but any shoe that has a decent stack and a soft super foam have plates in
It’s the other way round for me I find the Speed 2 has far less width than the 3.
@@buffaloj0e I don’t think the toe box width necessarily properly scales with shoe size in saconeys I’m a uk size 12
All I know is the speed 2 fits me and the speed 3s toe box feels very tight against my little toe
The rest of shoe is probably wider tho
That’s interesting about how it scales up I’ve never even thought of that, I’m a UK 9 so a few sizes smaller.
How about the Asics Superblast? Big stack, no plate.
Still a lot narrower in the tow box than the Alphafly 1 for me

No, I tend to do slightly faster long runs most of the time so look for a lighter shoe usually!

My question , does the hyperion max feel jarring when running on roads ?
They have a firmer midsole, so if you are used to a softer midsole then you will notice the difference, but they are super smooth, I dont find them jarring at all
I thought you might have had more than 1 long run in the Zoomfly 5, I enjoy it on a LR.
Yeah last year it got a lot of miles... this year I have just had other shoes but I do agree, its a decent long run cruiser
How time flies, could have sworn it was this year.
I am going to be boring My favorite has been the same as yours (just checked Strava and I have put in 221.8 miles in my current pair and still going strong) , the hyperion max has been my race pace & daily trainer of choice (where Z3 & 4 pace was required) , my second choice is the Topo Cyclone 02 my number 1 daily trainer this year. An oxymoron but it feels like a barefoot shoe with padding for the pavement. Brilliant for Z2 work with Strides or Fartleks mixed in (both the aformentioned shoes let you do the work .. aids but not to much). Lastly in third place is the Saucony pro 3 (my old pair) , The assistance it provides does skew the strava data a little (less effort for the same pace which I really dont want for training ) but boy do they feel good being able to pull out sub 8 minute miles at a heart rate of 127-133. But I use them sparingly and belong more in my racing catagory if I am to be honest.

Endo Speed 3's heel counter is dreadful. It's just a rigid hard piece of plastic, with zero padding, which aggravates my heels. And the plate's only purpose is lateral stability. I have non-plated shoes that actually provide better propulsion. If not for the heel counter, I probably would have already had to retire the shoe due to mileage. But because of this issue, the shoe has been limited to shorter easy runs and strides.
Really thinking about grabbing a pair of Superblast to get me through my next 2 marathon blocks in 2024 for pure long runs.
Yes that's my issue with the 3... intermittent heel issues with it being just to rigid!
please name sections of your video so we can easily see the shoe names, many youtubers do this.
Speed 3s...usually get 1,000 km out of this lineup

Haha! They dont do my size... please do feel free to email their tech team and tell them to make UK 13/14/15 in their super shoes and superblast so I can try them... I am getting frustrated that they wont do it!
The Hyperion max doesn't even look like a max cushion shoe, it must be a real quality shoe

I used 20 different shoes for long runs (and longer races that took the place of long runs) in 2023. Here are the stats for my top 5 (+ one honorable mention):
1) ASICS Superblast: 83.8 long run miles on 5 long runs
2) Saucony Endorphin Speed 3: 78 LR miles on 5 LRs.
3) Saucony Endorphin Pro 3: 72.7 LR miles on 3 LRs and one marathon race (which I won!)
4) Hoka Rocket X 2: 55.3 LR miles on 2 LRs and 2 races (half marathon and 10-miler)
5) adidas Adios Pro 3: 53.1 LR miles on 3 LRs and one half marathon race.
Honorable mention: Saucony Endorphin Elite: 42.5 LR miles on one marathon simulator LR (26.2km) and one marathon (massive PB at Chicago!)

What are y’all thoughts for the Pegasus 40s? And the novablast 3s? I was thinking of getting these for a good overall running shoe
