My dad passed away a few days ago.
He raised my brother and I by himself. He was my only parent for my entire life. He struggled, for as long as I can remember, with alcoholism. It came to the point where I felt like my dads addictions meant more to him than his children.
At the end of the day, I know my dad scarified so much for my brother and I. I know the man he was, when he died, wasn’t the man he wanted to be.
Like Demi said, I know you were a troubled man.. I know you never got the chance, to be yourself, to be your best. I hope that heavens given you a second chance.

I always say to myself I will never hate my dad, but there are times I would think so. Life is shit. Thanks Demi for writing or singing this song. It's not just about the voice, Grammy speaking...Demi is one of my favorite voices in all my 24 years but Adele is hands down a lyrical genius. Yes, I do think that Demi deserves a Grammy but I can't take away from Adele. That lady sells out arenas with solely a stool, a mic and a spotlight. Quality.

Chloé Neuvile for sure! I don't care what anyone says, Father and Stone Cold are two songs that you just can't help but to FEEL whenever you listen to them. They are so personal and so honest and I think that's why her performances are always so stellar. It's true emotion that she puts into the songs on top of having an amazingly powerful voice. I left the state he lives in in 2013 and by 6 months in my state a man helped me realize he was worth the pain he put me thru. Had my son 5/7/14 and I told his he could meet him if he was sober. His last words to me when He called me and i could tell hed been drinking and i wasnt actually there cuz he mixed up the days was "Fuck You You Lil Bitch". Ive tried time and again since but i told him he had to prove himself to me before he gets to be in my sons life. well last year june 2019 my mom had to have cancer moved out her breast and I showed up where he was and confonted him and his words were i dont have to drink i just choose to. I told him that means he has a problem and he needs help. then Dec 2019 my aunt was in hospital on life support and i showed up from 8 hrs away to make peace and tried for her sake to fix things with my dad again and yea id was in a very depressed stage was sending him i love u dad every two days for two weeks later found out his phone was off but even then i was still never a priority so I then pushed him away again after he asked me to unblock him which i did but i wouldnt allow him friends on fb and after telling him how i feel all i get is grow up ruth!

This song changed my life. That is kind of strange to say being as I am a 45 year old man. I usually don't listen to this kind of music. I didn't even listen to this song on purpose. See, I have a daughter, and I had not been a very good father. One day, when I went over to her mom's house to visit her, I went in her room and she was listening to this. I had to dart out and into the bathroom to wipe tears out of my eyes, because I pictured my daughter listening to this song and relating to the lyrics after I died. It was very sad to me. Songs usually don't make me weepy at all, but this one did. It was so depressing to me, that it was threatening to ruin the rest of my day, but then I realized that I was not dead yet. I didn't have to wait until heaven(not that I am going there) to make a second chance for myself. It wasn't too late. Every since that day, I have made an effort to be a better father, and me and my daughter's relationship is much better than it was. And, well, that is my little story about this song.
For all the dads that didn't get the chance and who will never have the opportunity to do so, hug her and tell her you love her. Thank you 💘

That girl is my sister in law, she's been through a lot of shit and this song and performance struck a cord deep in her heart and unlocked a lot of pent of feelings. I wish I would thank Demi for helping my sister (in law) with her music ❤️

There are other great singers out there, but none that I know of who connect with their emotions on this level, it's like she's channeling her soul and it's present in every note she sings. It's so naked and honest and it seems natural for her. She invites everyone in, and eliminates the space between. It's devastatingly beautiful and therapeutic all at the same time. Truly a miracle.

Sent this video to my dad and said nothing. I don’t think he’ll ever understand what he’s put my siblings and myself through though. He comes back and says he wants to change but always ends the same way. Took me years to realize it was because he’d relapse. He cares more about drugs and himself than anyone else. I hope I never end up like him.
I'm so sorry to know this. I truly do. I hope you are better now and that you took all the pain and turn it into light for you and others.

I dealt with the same problem with my mother, drugs are very very hard to get over, you just have to persevere, and hope things will get better in time
