I keep coming back to this even though it's been almost six years. I love both this and Ed's. While Ed's feels more like a lover who's given up, Demi's feels as if someone's is desperate not to give up on it. I love both of them. Demi's version always, always blows me away! Her voice is incredible!

If Demi Lovato ever felt compelled to produce an album in the same genre as Ed Sheeran, that album would be her most successful album by a landslide. This is the best song Demi Lovato has ever produced, and it's unfortunately not even hers.
You should check out her album "here we go again". she wrote most of the songs, worked with john mayer and other amazing musicians. It's her best album. Pretty mellow and jazzy/bluesy with some pop/rock songs. The lyrics and mellow vocals in it are amazing. I think she's taking a similar route for her next album. Listen to world of chances, falling over me, every time you lie, catch me, etc. a few of my faves from that album.
magdixXxGlimh Oh... yeah I didn't know that was a thing. I kind of went AWOL regarding demi lovato after her second album. It just wasn't very good so I jumped off the bandwagon (and La La Land was really her only decent song on the first album). I'll take your suggestion though.

If she wanted to, she could hit the notes in her head voice like she does with the rest of the song or in mixed voice, but she made the stylistic choice to use chest voice to create a peak of emotion in that part of the song.

Nobody should be able to say that Demi made this her "own" or that she owned the song.
