I want to give you the credit you deserve here. I've played AoM casually on my own and with friends since I was a little kid back in 2005. I have never won a match because I play super slow and don't really know how to micro very well. I just played a game against two of my friends, one as Kronos and another as Thor. I used this video as a guide and managed to pretty cleanly win my first ever competitive match of AoM. It wasn't perfect but I'm really proud of it and wanted to give my thanks and share.
As a fellow Aussie and legacy AOM enjoyer, I'm a big fan of your content for retold Drongo! Keep up the good work. Also sidenote, I find it fascinating how strong Hades is offensively considering that, if you think about it, has a more defensive list of unique buffs (Archer/Ranged Fortifactions upgrade for example). Meanwhile I'm kind of struggling my way through Ranked playing Gaia, Atlanteans are just too fun now so I'm going to keep at it and am taking notes as I go.
i play Hades more lategame orianted. Use the hero to collect relics very fast. With Classic Age you have the ressources to instant build 2nd TC. Because of your defensive God power you are pretty safe. Then build archery range and racks or cav depending on the enemy civ
Can you share an example bldg choice and target unit composition you'd respond with if, say your opponent is Zeus who went Athena, a lot of vills on temple, and has an archery range?
@@ZaItan1 In your example, you would build a Stable or Archery range and get anti-ranged units. In the case of Greek that would be Hippeus (Stable) or Toxotes (Archery). I prefer Toxotes because they are a bit more versatile and safe, but Hippeus would be good for a quick counter attack.
@@Vonzuli thanks for the tip! In one game I blindly massed toxotes and was crushed by ~10 minotaurs at 15min, neither of us macroing particularly well. Had I splashed in Hippies, might've been easier to raid and reduce them
@@ZaItan1 I find that in this game you have to really micro your units in combat to get the most out of them. I feel like the unit tic tac toe is very prominent compared to other games I've played.
That's probably the most reliable way to play Hades, I think you may still pop Erebes in the age up and maybe greed the resource upgrades after launching the B2 but from that point you can play as you want (meaning as in this video), you'll just have way more eco but be ~30seconds late
I would love to have acess to that screen shot of the Vaults of Erebus build order and practily any other for the different gods and civs. that sheet looks so neat and easy to follow and keep up on my second screen
Depending on Starting circumstances I kind of think this is for when you need to take straggler trees - or do second storehouse as you've done. Building one on both resources should be best no - though not every map is equally accommodating. It seemed to be more efficient if I sent first built ville to gold, 2 to wood, 1 to food, 1 more to wood & then 2 to food with 1 after that to favour. Then you have everyone on food basically, even take 1/3 wood villes to food just to secure the age-up time. You can build another storehouse on the way up to transition a group of food villes to wood/gold if needed as you don't need housing atm.
I am quite sure that the amount of idle time is not at all worth getting the tech that early. Imo, you can simply do a normal BO and get the tech by taking the gold vills to favor during transition. This means you are not able to slap down the fast 2nd TC right away, but it's a much easier build and you don't get excessive vill walking time

I was wondering if there could be a similar approach with poseidon's horses and get that HP Regen going, but the main thing was the gold so i was wondering if you could do this strat but using the better exange rates of the market from poseidon's bonuses to make it up for it until you get the eco upgrades and the difference between having vaults or not is not that noticeable?

interesting build - i wonder how good it is on high level like top 100 or better bcs these strong players just timingattack you and thats danger but i guess you could then play more defensive gonna test it out on the ladder at some point :)
Drongo you are leaving some efficiency on the table by making 2 storehouse! You should just place that first storehouse between the wood and gold… it translates into about 30 seconds faster age up timing
Vaults of Erebus is overpowered, needs a nerf. 2 gold per second is crazy it’s like having 2 villagers on gold with a storehouse at maximum efficiency. Needs to be nerfed to 1 gold per second.
@@TheWretchedWorld sounds like you just need to get good, instead of asking for insane nerfs. nerfing everything you dislike to near useless isn't how you balance a game.

Is there a way to "right click" so to speak, to queue up research and tech like with a mouse, but in controller. I can't find an answer anywhere...
Vaults of Erebus is probably the best starter God tech since I noticed gold is hard to come by in this game, like harder than other AOE games.
